  1. I believe the reason there haven't been any server closures isn't because Bioware don't want to. It's because their "legacy system" *%^&ed up server transfer and they can't.
  2. Because TOR hasn't been going for 7 years. WoW had been live for over a year before they got test premades.
  3. Those aren't in the poll because those things are already confirmed as in development. The poll is about things that aren't currently being developed.
  4. None of the above (but voted for pod racing, since this is closest to GL's vision that isn't currently represented in some way, and also the easiest achieved). What I want to see, in order of priority: 1) Expanded, less linear, class stories. 2) More species choices but only if they have a meaningful affect on story or gameplay. 3) Developers wasting less time on elements that don't interest me (PvP, endgame raiding, phat loot progression) - where TOR can never compete with established MMOs anyway
  5. It does if it enables a class to significantly outperform other classes between level 10 and 49. It matters because the game isn't just about endgame. If it was, all those hours of VO where a massive waste of money. Ok, this proves you don't know your facts. Smugglers get their ship around level 16, the same as most other classes.
  6. The "Point" is that DfA was horribly, horribly overpowered on a powertech tank. I know, because a powetech tank is my main. If you are incapable of comparing the performance of different classes objectively, carry on QQing, because just like the sorcs, there is nothing anyone can say that will change a biased opinion. Actually, as someone who was a beta tester, I can tell you that "Mortar Volley" was NOT originally a Trooper skill. It was added mid 2011, when the decision was made to make the classes close mirrors. So it only exists to mirror DfA. Animations get changed to fit powers, not the other way around.
  7. There is the class ability perk: you need to play all eight classes to unlock every "Heroic Moment" power, so you need to play both factions. There are also the companion based perks.
  8. I believe the idea is that Orange schematics for PvP gear come from PvP loot bags. The idea being to keep PvP appearances out of the hands of people who don't PvP. I don't agree though, I think every appearance should be available to every player, regardless of if the PvP or not.
  9. Im not sure what the policy is on posting links to other game forums, but this is an example of how I think it should be done. Concept art: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=283410 In game model (not finished): http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=284929
  10. Here is a sensible idea: Post the concept drawings for new gear sets on the forums and collect feedback BEFORE sending them to the modellers to create in-game versions.
  11. ^^This. The trouble is, developers are still stuck in the "one size MMO fits all" mentality. "Endgame" has no place in a true RPG, MMO or not. And, as the OP points out, if all you care about is e-sports, levelling and story are a waste of time an developer resources. It's time for MMOs to choose their market and SPECIALISE. The genre, as it exists now, has no future.
  12. No, ditch that idea completely. No one cares. Cool is not needing fancy gear to show how cool you are. No need. Just focus on lots of customisable gear, irrespective of stats. No, not in the slightest. I would rather not be able to tell level, or class, based on gear. You worked on CoH: this game needs to take a similar approach. Aesthetics always trump gameplay. I wear weaker gear to get closer to the look I want.
  13. 1) The class buffs apply retroactively to all characters on your legacy. 2) Buffs from mirror classes do not stack. If you have a smuggler and an IA you only get +5% crit, not +10%. 3) The "Heroic moment" abilities are per-class, so you could have up to 8 if you level all eight base classes. 4) You do not have to be on the same faction to benefit from a legacy unlock. 5) The family tree is just for fun. It has no effect on gameplay. 6) More slots on each server will come eventually, but not in 1.2.
  14. The default option on the family tree is "unrelated"...
  15. If you think it might be a bug, report it. That's what test servers are for. The people collecting the data will sort it out.
  16. I wonder if there has been a large turn-over of staff in the art department since Malgus was designed...
  17. QFT. There has been no general "removal" of lore objects, but some have gotten lost during the development process, so the planet totals listed in the codex has to be taken with a pinch of salt.
  18. No. No it can't. Because those things have conflicting needs, as well as competing for a share in the budget. For most of it's development TOR classes where only very loosely mirrored, with a wide variety of play-styles. Why did we get this appalling homogenisation? PvP. If having balanced PvP wasn't an issue, we could have much wider customisation, and 16 classes instead of 8. And then we have GZs post confirming that nerfs are simply to make endgame raids easier to turn into e-sports. I have been playing RPGs since the 1980's. "Endgame" was never part of that. When our characters got too powerful, they retired and we started new ones. "Raiding" was invented because Everquest developers where to lazy to keep creating new content. It has no place in a story based RPG.
  19. Those guys aren't the art team. We never seem to get anything from the artists on the TOR forums. This is something else CoH does better.
  20. It's worth noting that City of Heroes have already done joint developer/community costume design projects.
  21. These things are mealy window dressing and QQoL. I'm thinking of much more drastic things which are inimical to making a MMO that is genuinely "story based": PvP (which forced class mirroring and killed build variety) and endgame raiding. Or, if they wanted to make a MMO about PvP and raiding, they wasted a MASSIVE about of money on pointless voice acting.
  22. OP: did you complete all your class quests on Korriban and get told to travel to Drommund Kaas? How did you get to the fleet? How did you get back to Korriban?
  23. I have no interest in raiding, I have little interest in PvP, am not a competitive person, and as such, am not hugely affected by "nerfs". However, I have to say, if Bioware have so utterly lost sight of the "story based" MMO that I was so excited about back in 2008 that all their attention is focused on fiddling with "end game", then that's exactly what it is: END GAME.
