Supposedly after about a week of a 60 character created toon you get credit towards the little legacy complete all 8 stories gold icon thing. I made a trooper with a booster because I hate trooper & don't want to level one. After about a week or so on my character selection screen, began to show as trooper class completed.

Supporting the Republic doesn't mean you are light sided. Supporting the Sith Empire doesn't mean you are dark sided. Supporting the Zakuul Empire doesn't mean you are gray. Those are all internal practices, what you do externally may be a reflection of that, or it might not be.
