  1. You kind of have to play one past level 10...
  2. easiest rotation? Just spam disturbance, tele throw, and project. Each tree has its own rotations. There isn't a catch-all rotation that works in every situation. You can always go telekinetics, open up on a group with telekinetic wave and go from there. Personally I'd go with balance. It's extremely mobile(which is a must in pvp), helps on the heals, and you can lock down 3 mobs at the same time instantly with talented improvements to force lift.
  3. He's such a great guy and yet you kill him =( And on another note, I'd gladly swap him out for lord scourge as a companion. Scourge's voice just does not fit well to me.
  4. Yea I think I was at 10k affection before I was actually able to sit down and talk over n over n over (about 10 convos back to back) Think once you finish act 2 is when they open up, it sucks the game makes you wait. I was hoping to be able to romance her early so she could do crew skills more efficiently, but now that shes at 10k its kind of pointless(at least I think, not sure if there is a hidden bonus to marriage) So yea man, you just have to wait then it opens up. Turns out affection level does not really trigger convos, but your place in the storyline triggers most of them.
  5. I've been leveling since level 10 as vigil, and don't get me wrong its fun as hell but now that I find myself in belsavis with fairly decent gear(im cybertech so I'm pretty much always up-to-date and spend comms on hilts, etc) I find I'd like to change to either defense, or maybe focus. I never really wanted to be a tank per se, just figured a guardian would be more 'jedi-esque' to the lore and whatnot and the survivability is always a plus. 977 strength / 815 endurance 19% critchance 10k hp, 96% accuracy(106% specials) and 31% dmg reduction. Been using doc since I got him. He does keep me up fairly well, but some wrong mistakes I'll leave a fight at 70% hp as I try and keep aggro on everything(if he doesn't take damage, thats more heals going to me) I figure maybe being tank spec I'd be able to swap him out for kira(used her till I got doc, things died very fast w/little downtime) and still have little downtime with faster killing. Personally I hate plasma brand, uses too much focus and IMO is only worthwhile in pvp/bosses as everything else dies too fast for its dot to even matter. How is defense spec using shii-cho vs soresu? Do the talents help with surviability since you lose out on the armor bonus/shield chance for not being in soresu? Shield or focus? Keep my dps mods or swap out to more defensive ones like defense/shield/absorb? Just trying to get to 50 reasonably fast. I don't even bother grouping unless i'm in the immediate area as waiting for others is a waste of time when I could be killing/questing elsewhere. Focus seems to have insane burst, but notably only on force sweep making it more of a pvp build but I don't know Should I just stick with vigil all the way, or give defense a shot?
  6. You gain valor as you play in WZ matches. You use commendations to purchase gear, lvl 20/40/50 gear. Expertise is a stat added onto 50 pvp gear that increases the damage you do/less damage taken/more heals given to other players in warzones. Sure they cap at 2k but there is plenty to spend them on. If you already have 2k, go ahead and buy some of your 50 pvp gear early. And word of advice, DO NOT enter a lvl 50 warzone w/o at least full recruit gear. It's not that expensive and if you go in with full pve gear, players will drop out and you'll be blacklisted by some of the players.
  7. That looks great. I'm always irritated going back through trying to find what needs to RE'd to learn something, and 'greying' out ones you don't know yet helps to see just how much you have learned on 'x' schematic' Bump for justice
  8. I leveled as vigil since lvl 10 and never had any issues. I am a cybertech and make my own mods, and just spent comms on a new hilt if i couldnt find one on the GTN. Used kira too once I got her in 'guest' mode early on in coruscant, never ever had to pull out t7 for anything either. I'm currently lvl 41 and I leveled my guard after 1.2 if it even matters. Maybe its your mods and/or gear? Or maybe your rotation. As I leveled my typical rotation was leap immediately followed by force sweep to make sure I get the small 'stun' on everyone. Usually after that I'd sunder armor to get some focus and just go from there. Leap+master strike on a strong is great, I fell in love with master strike the moment I got it. With good gear it hits like a truck, especially when it crits. Make sure you use force stasis, especially on elites/chams as it will interrupt them which is crucial(and of course if your own interrupt is on cd you want to interupt every move you can.) It builds focus every second you hold it and it actually does nice damage. Force push is another interrupt move and resets your cd on force leap. But yea like I said I have never had any issues leveling as full vigil even before I got doc. Make sure you keep at least your 'main' companion geared as it helps tremendously. Your force sweep followed by kiras aoe move is a great combo and geared she can hold her own very well. Now that I'm 41 and have had Doc for a little while now I freaking love that ******** (voiced by a comedian so what do you expect.) I'm still not really sure what secondary stat I should be focusing on. I try and grab accuracy when I can and WAS getting crit+surge but figured power would be better as vigil (and leave the crit for focus) as our class buff boosts our bonus damage by 5%. Took me 40 levels to actually read it and read BONUS instead of +5% normal damage. I might respec and go defense just to see how it is and bring 'new life' into my character. But if you stay geared up, and doc too later on he can actually hold his own lol. Great rotation once your done with leap and blah blah, is to force sweep then pommel strike someone. Then you can use freezing force followed by opportune strike. Freezing not only opens up opp. strike, but it also slows down guys if they decided to rush doc. Once he starts taking damage he will want to heal himself and not you, which of course could make things go bad. Stasis and force push are awesome in so many ways, and dont forget the first few seconds of blade turning grant 100% ranged and melee defense so if you can't interrupt a huge hitting move, pop it and laugh.
  9. This is awesome, maybe we will see some 'perks' of the other games make their way into swtor. More on board=faster bug fixes and balances. Who knows, swtor might pick up speed and get the players who left back and make this a contender =)
  10. 1 time, i was actually i think 2 levels lower than what the quest level was. Wanted to get it done so i can get doc a lot quicker. He was easy as hell. Just force stasis when he's going to lightning that you just cant interrupt due to cd's not being up, then later force push on yet another cd thats not up yet. Used kira, kept 5 stacks of sunder armor on him at all times, master strike at all times. Was vigilance spec.
  11. Decided to come pub side and make a guard. Was wondering if I should focus purely on strength as I'm leveling as vigil, or should I stack endurance? I don't want to feel like I'm made of paper but I'd like to help kill things a lil faster while I level up and swap to defense later on.
  12. Well I just rolled a guard, but have a 36 assassin. Assassin/shadow are great aoe tanks, and i hear like powertechs are awesome single target. I havn't heard much about guards/juggs other than they are 'broken right now' as far as tanking but nobody ever really gave insight into why this is. Each tanking class has different ways to negate damage outright, or reduce the dmg they take. Assassins depending on spec can take 15% less dmg from DoTs or 30% less dmg from aoe effects, but these are not in the tanking tree and are fairly deep into it. Those specs are viable for some tanking, but a true tank goes into their tank tree. Guards can get a fairly large permanent dmg reduction at all times (4% commanding awe and 15% more if they use commanding presence, but once again this isn't even in their tank tree) It really just boils down to how much of a tank you want to be, and for what reason. Do you want to tank flash points/HMS/ops? Do you just want to tank in solo questing while your companion kills everything? Be a tank in pvp? Like I said earlier each class does things differently and has different ways of reducing damage, debuffing, etc. Certain boss fights will call for a certain class to tank, some classes can be better offtanks, etc. So regardless of which class you choose, you'll have a tanking job.
  13. Be nice to know really, once 1.2 hit I was on my assassin(only lvl 36 mind you, so no Jaessa yet) and I made the lvl 11 dark acolyte robes. I made 7 of them, and 5 had augments. Kept one for my sorc alt and sold the rest. Played on my sorc who is 22 and biochem. Made about 35 of the very first implants you can make, resolve ones. On my 36th RE, i learned a blue schem. On my 37th I learned another. I personally just think the RNG is fail and its not entirely random
  14. Slicing will be labeled with every other craft in the game. Reason being is you can now get mats for the augments you can learn to make. So just take armor, its gathering skill, and the blue material skill. Slicing I guess got nerfed hard and seems the only way to make good money with it is selling augment mats. Not sure how level 6 lockboxes in the world fare though. Sadly IMO with synth/armor and possibly weps, is once you can make orange gear for each slot, for each armor type its over. The heavy gear you can make as armor, a jedi guard can wear(as long as it doesn't have like trooper only on it.) But the ability to make you companions gear and custom gear, and keep your bracers/belt updated til later when you can get orange(pvp i think) is nice. Crit crafting an orange now results in an augment slot, which you can sell for good money. But yea, just stick with its respective gathering skill and the one to get the blue mats(forgot what you said, but like synth has UT, bio has diplomacy, etc) I have a 36 assassin with like 300 synth, its a credit sink but all my companions and future comps already have gear made lol. EDIT: K just saw, yea take armor/scav/underworld, scav gets you the mats to make the gear, UT will give you the mats to use when you RE your gear(so you learn its blue pattern) and when you RE that you'll get the purp pattern(UT crit missions give you mats for that) Also any UT materials you dont need/use, sell. Those mats can be expensive depending on which one it is.
