  1. You can turn off background noise in settings to fix this. I had a similar issue, the Essless FP has lasers cutting through metal (irritating noise) which the imps board the ship through the airlock. The issue is that these noises don't stop until after you complete the area. 5 minutes of non stop laser on metal screeching!
  2. Yeah. I definitely noticed that these were not native English speakers. If this continues I'm thinking two things: 1) stop submitting mundane "clean-up" type tickets 2) Begin each chat with "I'm happy to chat if you have further questions about my ticket, otherwise please close the ticket with the standard SWTOR response. Thank you."
  3. True, but what if they need more information? It's easier to text back and forth than update the ticket back and forth. I'm happy to chat with a CS agent if they need more info from me, but not just to let them assure me they are looking at it in an incredibly inefficient way. Also, I report A LOT of bugs. Usually 1 a day and sometimes more. Most are mundane little things that bioware should know about, but aren't pressing. No need to text me over those.
  4. Maybe I'm not being clear enough. The CS people are not helping me to personally address a bug. None of the bugs I reported have affected me personally. These are just superficial game bugs (like the time I found an invisible object, or how sometimes the elevator in [inset FP] doesn't work, or people don't show up on the PvP list, or inappropriate names, or etc etc. These are the kinds of tickets that use to solved thusly- a service droid would respond with the standard response, saying to check patch notes. Now, instead of this I get the standard response delivered via in game texting that interrupts my game play. I don't need a live agent to tell me. "Hi. I looked at your ticket. This will be addressed. I can't update you. Read patch notes." Every single time I submit even the most minor ticket. I'm personally fine with the emails that gave me the exact same message. Customer service works its butt off to process thousand of tickets a day. This new policy of responding in game, with a live representative, to even the most standard and mundane tickets must be a drag on resources and personally I find it annoying. Can't understand my ticket? Need more information? Sure, text me in game. Want to tell me "I read it, it will be addressed, look at patch notes"? Please don't text me, simply close the ticket like you use to. Thanks.
  5. It's not helpful to have my game play interrupted just to confirm "I read your ticket" If I submit a ticket, and something is unclear, I'm more than happy to text back and forth with a representative to make it clear. However, I'm not okay having a giant green mailbox pop up on my screen while I'm fighting someone just to have this said [paraphrase] Hi. I read your ticket. Rest assured this will be looked at. We can't update you on this ticket. Instead of spending ~5 to 10 minutes telling me this (which is what they say every single time) just close my ticket with the standard droid response. I report bugs often, but frankly, I'm getting irritated with all these text/chat messages interrupting my game play just to tell me what use to be handled by closing the ticket. Do I mind if customer service chats with me to address an issue? NO Do I mind if customer service chats with me on every ticket just to prove they are reading them? YES
  6. I never had a problem with customer service before this new policy was put in place ~ 2 weeks ago. Like I said, I've reported ~ 50+ bugs since launch. I don't want someone to text me the same three lines in the middle of a fight that I've already read on every service ticket. Why waste time texting me in game? Just respond to the ticket. Don't text me in game unless you need further information or if something is unclear. I know that the customer service team is looking at it, I know they won't be able to update me, I know that I can find the information by reading patch notes. Therefore I don't need a live agent to text me in game with those same three lines when they don't have a specific question just to prove they looked at the ticket. SWTOR is obviously looking at tickets and those who claim they weren't are just being whiners and probably haven't bothered to read patch notes.
  7. Are all player channels server-wide? Fort garni, made a new chanell for Republics interested in PvP to chat and form groups. /cjoin pubs
  8. Ha ha ha. I do that a lot in ladies public restrooms (lifting the seat to pee is the quickest most sanitary way for public germ buckets imo). I'm sure it leads to plenty of --->
  9. Well, if you pick a name outside of the SWTOR universe - i.e. Clobberin people may report you for breaking the naming scheme. Whereas on a non RP server names that don't defy the rules, yet aren't in the SWTOR universe aren't an issue. Additionally some RP servers won't group with people who don't RP and stay in character. It varies. I'd say roll a toon on an RP server and see if you like it. I found the chat to be very dead when I tried an RP sever, but things may have changed.
  10. I've been playing since launch and thus have reported a ton of bugs. I have a lot of respect for the customer service team, as they have to process a lot of information and prioritize fixes. However, this new procedure of texting someone in game over service tickets when the customer service representative doesn't need any more information needs to stop. When I submit a ticket, I'm fine with the droid sending me the "this will be looked at. We can't update you about progress. Look at patch notes for news" tailored response. I'm not okay with having my game play interrupted for someone to tell me in awkward English what I already knew - which is that the bug will be looked into and that I will not be updated on the progress of a fix. Please, only text people in game if the ticket is unclear or the customer service representative needs more information. Thanks!
  11. "Toilet seat must be down. " As a female, I just don't get this. It doesn't bother me when the seat is up ... ever. I look before peeing, problem solved. Actually since moving in with the boyfriend toilet has been kept cleaner since now a dirty underseat is so obvious. Seriously though, the war over toilets should end. If you fall in the toilet it's your own [explicative removed] fault.
  12. I'm a bioware fangirl. Have loved all their games I've played. I really enjoy SWTOR. It's got great story, top notch voice acting, the most realistic RPG characters I've ever been able to play, and a whole lot more. But I'm worried about the game for two reasons. Bioware, or whichever part of EA is responsible for this, please get your act together with these patches. Let's face it, Tuesday's patch was tiny. Very little had been done. So to have matrix cubes disappear like that really just looks sloppy. Put that together with the crash to desktop issues (CTD) that many Vista computers are having since 1.2, and people will frankly begin to wonder if you even field test patches before you send them out. If you aren't testing patches before implementation - do it, do it now. CTD is a game breaking issue that still hasn't been fully addressed on many machines. The low population servers are really killing the game. Fort Garnik has been light for Months, but now it's a ghost town. People are either fleeing the server and rolling alts, or are unsubbing. Who knows. All I know is that I can rarely get groups together for FP or WZ and I'm lucky/ecstatic when there are 10 members on for our guild. People don't want to play a game where they can't group, and many of the play since launch people are so invested in legacy that they don't want to start over. And who can blame them. Merging/transfering people now will save the game, not end it. Frankly, EA has low stock now and it's really not going to hurt it much more to just merge/transfer now while EA is low. Do that, see the happy people return to star wars and watch the stock rise.
  13. I'm not sure what you are trying to say. Are you saying that whenever you move, your companions are magically summoned? Are your companions being summoned whenever you use a taxi? I'm just not sure what the potential bug you are trying to report it.
  14. Re: The whole "genetic disposition" thing. As a biologist I can tell you, yes there are genetic differences between males and females. However, when it comes to "gender roles" biology has very little to do with it. For starters gender roles vary significantly by country - ask a Japanese man and an American man what it means to "be a man" and you will get vastly different answers. So obviously gender roles have very little basis in biology in that they vary so considerably from country to country whereas the male and female sexes do vary by country. One issue that people who like to cite "genetics/biology" always conveniently forget when discussing issues of male vs female preferences/aptitude is that parents, society, teachers, peers, etc expect certain behaviors from children of each sex. I remember, as a young girl, getting pestered constantly because I did not wear make-up, played video games, liked sports, and didn't like girly clothing. My parents, I found out just recently, were also constantly pressured to "actively encourage" me to behave "more like a girl". Even as babies each sex is genderized, I can't tell you the number of times my sister has taken away a doll or barbie my young nephew has picked up and replaced it with a truck or building block. Now that he's two, he doesn't pick up dolls anymore. Is that a sign that "as a male" he doesn't like beauty and fashion? Or has he just been socialized into behaving the way American's think boys should behave? There's no biology in "men like trucks" "girls like clothes" it's all about socialization. Anyway, sorry for the long post, but the "genetics" argument with examples of how [insert high % of women I know] do X or Y, always annoy me because it ignores this process of socialization that I know personally to have incredibly strong effects on the vast majority of people. We can't all be pigheaded-stubborn children like myself with parents graceful and strong enough to not let the community bother you into thinking there's something wrong with your child pursuing what he or she loves. Sadly the opposite is mostly true. I mean, look at the flak accepting parent of openly gay or transgendered parents get in the national media even. Recently, N.C. preacher Sean Harris was caught on video suggesting that you beat toddlers who exhibit [sic] girly habits[sic] and beat young girls who like sports and "don't even try to be pretty". Many American's still have serious issues with gender non-conformity and actively discourage it in their children.
  15. Events will always draw in large amount of players to the same space during the same time. Many players are still subbed but just don't play every day anymore since the "newness" wore off. The player base is chilling out and not playing SWTOR 7-8 hours a day everyday anymore, it's a common "problem" in mmo's to maintain a player base yet see less log on at the same time. It's not a sign of SWTOR dieing, it's a sign of it aging.
  16. Just goes to show people will QQ about anything. Even newspapers print typos and errors. It happens. Most people don't care unless they are numerous and make reading it tiring/difficult.
  17. Seriously though, what's wrong with correcting someone who says "he" and saying, actually it's "she"? Just not getting why that makes me an "attention grabber" just cause I don't want to be taken for something I'm not - i.e. male.
  18. Or if they had a training mission for the Hutt Cartel. It's amazing how many people don't realize that there's a mixed faction trade network in the promenade.
  19. Usually I only bring up gender when it's brought up in the chat. I.e. Hey, go get Neshani he's a great tank. Neshani here, it's actually she, and sure I'll run [insert flash point] with you. I see nothing sad or "attention grabbing" about correcting someone if they refer to me as he. Why hide that I'm a she?
  20. Just because the title of the thread is "some facts about female gamers" doesn't mean that every post is supposed to be an all encompassing "truth" about "all females" in "every continent" who play video games. Some people have probably learned from this thread, others may feel more comfortable playing knowing there are others "like them". Personally I enjoy this sounding board where people talk about their experiences as a female gamer and with female gamers, as well as aspects of the thread that discuss females outside of gaming. Conversations like this aren't meant to pigeon-hole anyone, it's actually the opposite. I personally have more respect for male gamers after participating in the thread, since so little of it has been colorful nonsense. As for a thread about "the facts of male gamers", If you want one why not make one?
  21. I "solo que" often and don't have a problem. Sometimes my team doesn't get it together and we lose. Sometimes we manage to integrate our efforts and we win. Part of the fun of solo queing is the challenge of organizing your group. It's like you're thrown into an event and you either sink or swim. I have plenty of comms, am geared for PvP as I wish, and have fun rolling the tank or dps classes (haven't rolled others yet).
  22. Re: Stereotypes. It's like I said earlier. When it comes to men making statements about "females this, or females that" I really think XKCD hit the nail: http://xkcd.com/385/ On the other hand, I think females are guilty of this too. They see a man doing something (say digging in his underwear then reaching for a common food bowl without washing his hands) and then generalize all men as having that characteristic. The reality is that particular guy is gross, but not all men are. Pen and paper RPG's rock. But I will mention that, while in Australia, I was told "don't come back" after 1 session and when I asked "why" was told "it's supposed to be a guys thing". I left it at that but wondered why they invited me to play in the first place in they weren't interested in having a female present.
  23. Like a said "a part" of the reasoning. People were QQing about the game (not just endgame) being too easy ~ 1.5 months ago, and the medpac change was a simple way to increase difficulty without changing bosses, quests, gear, classes or any of the "major" game mechanics. People were also QQing about people using multiple medpacs during a single drawn out fight in PvP. I'm biochem and I'm not annoyed by the changes in 1.2. I got to keep my purple medpacs so I'm happy.
