  1. Just to update this... Turns out all three of my guildmates were not actually online, their toons were just stuck in logged-in status on an instance map that didn't exist, which explains why I couldn't switch maps or whisper, because there was only one real instance. This was affecting many characters because a /who on fleet showed people in 3 maps when there was only one. One of my guildmates tried to login with the toon that showed online and it said he wasn't in a guild. He had to repair his launch utility to be able to login again. Others are trying to fix theirs now. As for the legacy abilities, that was me being stupid. Rocket Boost is under Vehicles and i wasn't looking there. Not surprisingly, last night we were doing KP lockouts and queued a group of 7, matches a pug, and it sent only 3 of us into the op. Yay for bugs!
  2. Is this a bug or am I being dumb? I boosted a toon to 65. Can’t whisper my guild mates that a /who shows are online. Can only whisper players on my map and can’t switch instances on fleet to find others. There is no drop down. Also can not access legacy unlocks like rocket boost. I tried closing game and relogging. Even completed kotet chapter 1 to lock in the toon. Also read and clicked through all the tutorials. Any tips? Thanks.
  3. What a bummer. That's all we have to look forward to with new content?
  4. I did that. It took me an hour and a half (I'm a tank), and still no cutscenes. Tried resetting the mission and talking to Lana again then launching from the mission. Dumps me back outside the entrance. I'm not trying it again for nothing.
  5. Did you get it working? I tried running it solo after picking up the terminal mission and the story mission didn't advance. I tried resetting it and talking to Lana again, then launching from the purple mission and it dumps me back outside the entrance.
  6. Chiming in since it's been said once...all in all, this is a good group of guys, but the GM is overbearing, makes a habit of calling out raiders individually when his dps is barely over mine as a tank, and creates a stressful climate in his ops group. I was gkicked last night for biding my time PVPing while I waited for our ops group to sign on. I was the first one on, 15 minutes ahead of time, with medpacs, stims and adrenals ready to go. Instead of whispering me and asking me to drop match, he berates me in guild chat, curses at me and belittles me like a child. I of course told him to piss off and the boot wasn't far to follow. This was 2 minutes after our scheduled ops time and 2 of our members had yet to sign on. Sin, you're a good dude, and I liked the other guys I'd spent time in the guild too, but Ezmar's behavior is unacceptable. We are adults.
  7. No. FFXIV was just simply awful and it was no fun to play, which broke the hearts of people who have been loyal followers of the series for decades. The interface was clunky, there were NO dungeons/FPs/OPs/PvP/WZs/BGs whatever you wanna call them. None of that. The only thing to do was group events and level, similar to the clustereffs you see in GW2. That was all. Crafting was mind-numbing and took hours of hands on activity to gain a couple levels. The game was pointless, and will probably not even survive its relaunch. How it passed through any amount of testers as a source of entertainment I'm completely unsure. SWTOR...you can cry all you want about bugs and how your computers can't handle the resource hog that it is, and how HK is too easy to get or expensive, or how you need more content to suit your individual play style or want to gay marry your companion, but this game is fun to play. It doesn't need a relaunch. You're overreacting, it's a solid MMO/solo PC game.
  8. oh sorry. Don't think you can post it directly on the forums, you upload it somewhere and post a link to it.
  9. press the Print Screen button on your keyboard, should be on the top right somewhere. That saves the image to either My Documents or the Star Wars folder under Documents, depending on your Windows version. Alternatively, you can use your Snipping tool to capture part of the screen. That's if you have Vista or higher. Just press Start Menu and search for Snipping if you've never used it.
  10. Oh hey, haaaave you met my friend Kaliyo? "you know, just because she's a Jedi doesn't mean you can't catch something" "i require three good looking stowaways to the engine room, and if you deny me this, no more late visits to the captain's cabin" "what are you lookin at me for? I just shoot things"
  11. Agreed, roll back the effing patch! People could care less if you snip their newfound free legacy perks for a few days. People go nuts when you prevent them from playing the part of the game they schedule their entire weeks around. I've been a happy camper and I could care less about nerfs and F2P, this one really bugs me, no pun intended. okay pun intended but i'm still pissed!
  12. You're really not in danger of sacrificing any cool rewards by picking based on the situation. As a DS Agent, I've certainly taken my share of LS points just because sometimes the option is to kill someone you've been working with. My character's personality would certainly tie up loose ends, and I'll off just about anyone to do that, but there are some characters you're working with, never wronged you, that I'll just let slide. Mia Hawkins for example, who I was hoping would be a companion. You'll get earn back plenty of DS points running FPs anyway, so let your class story be who you want your character to be without worrying about going "gray".
  13. Funny you should reference False Emperor, I actually used to switch my Guard to whoever was about to solo and not a single time have I taken any damage while they're getting hit, leading me to believe that Guard actually does not work for that fight, while incapacitated. If you've noticed otherwise that's very interesting, because I was awfully let down when I found out that clever trick wasn't actually doing anything.
  14. If you mean FPs, I only guard healers if they comfortably outgear the dps, because undergeared dps aren't pulling anything off of me. Otherwise, yes, you're right, you always guard your strong melee since he's hopefully off killing the stragglers. Alternatively, in OPs I always guard the healer no matter what, since they hit harder and because many pulls are a potential wipe if he drops as opposed one of your dps. Then again, your thread is probably falling on deaf ears since the people who take time to read forums are probably already paying attention to how the game works best...
  15. I'm a shadow, but these groups work the same across the board. In big groups, your only concern is the champion/elites/strongs, in that order. The weak ones should be picked off by your DPS first. If you have an extra AOE swat to hit them with, go for it, but you shouldn't be chasing weak mobs because you will lose the strongs to the DPS or healer. Never taunt a weak off a dps, only the healer, they don't hit hard. Guard your strongest DPS, or whoever pulls the most aggro. Typically guard is only used on healers in ops and pvp unless they far outgear your dps. If you ask your dps to burn weaks first and they don't and continue to pull, let them die, you and a healer can probably handle most packs and they'll get tired of watching you do it from the ground.
  16. Flashpoints? What are we talking about, Flashpoints? We're not even talking about a real raid? If you're not holding threat in a HM FP, you're undergeared or not doing it right. If you're undergeared, that's fine, those DPS that are stealing aggro are probably much better geared, and can take a few hits, which will take some damage off your shoulders. This is coming from a tank, not a slap happy dps. Some points are valid, impatient DPS and CC pulls, yes it's easier when everyone's being a pro, whatever, but we're talking about flashpoints. So stop complaining and be on your toes. It's good training for legitimate accidents when it counts.
  17. hate to be the downer here, but if you're not new to mmo's you also know there's plenty of resources out there, as well as stickies on these forums with guides to answer your questions. each class has 4 potential trees to travel, not even including hybrids so it depends what you wanna do. if you like mages/warlocks, you'd be a sage, if you like rogues you'd be a shadow. click on one of those forums and it's all right at your fingertips! Your stat is willpower. sage=1H lightsaber, shadow=double-bladed lightsaber
  18. Hey guys, just a question to the shadow tanks...at the Rakata and BH MK-1 gear range, what's the best method for optimization? Are we just ripping mods out of the MK-1 stuff and plugging them into Rakata shells to hang onto our 2% damage reduction set bonus? Do we have to keep the armoring in the Rakata or is safe to swap that out too? Thanks!
  19. nope, everything hits you, that's the goal, your healer was a baddie. your ability to tank trash will ultimately depend on your dps knowing the score as well. The right way to do it is aoe/aoe/pull any strong mobs you can directly to you/hit the guy hard that you can't let go stray. weak mobs out of your range can be ignored, good dps will go burn those first while you're racking up aggro, otherwise they'll eventually go after the healer. When it's done the right way, you barely have to even blow your taunts. The wrong way is for dps to go unload on the champ/elite you just pulled while you're off gathering trash who barely hit anyone hard enough to bump back a spell cast. hope that helped, i used to worry about it when i was leveling and running with randoms too, but it's really all about having a group that all knows what they're doing, and at cap, there's more of those.
  20. here ya go buddy - http://shadowbuilds.com/ btw, there's this new website called "google", you should check it out.
  21. and actually I'd prioritize TK Throw over Project if HS is at 3 stacks, but didn't wanna confuse you in the list.
  22. Your taunts are Mind Control (@lvl 16) and Mass Mind Control (@lvl 30) and in a pinch , Force Pull (@lvl 30). All of these force one or more mobs to attack you instead of your party. Although Force Pull should be reserved for repositioning ranged mobs, but is useful if both taunts are on cooldown. As far as rotation, it's more of a priority order, and again, we don't know your level, so you can replace what you don't have yet with Project>Double Strike, but I'd do something like... Kinetic Shield>Slow Time>Force Breach>Project>TK Throw (w/ 3 stacks harnessed shadows)>Double Strike>Saber Strike (when out of force). Pop relics and other cooldowns as necessary. All other abilities are situational I like to lead with all my AOE's for multiple mobs. Slow Time, Project and TK Throw are your best threat generating attacks, although in 1.3 we're being told Force Breach will gain a big threat boost too.
  23. Oh right, gotcha, I stand corrected. Made a dumb assumption since as a Kinetic I'd never seen it. He did say he's a shadow tank though, so I highly doubt he's specced into infiltration, and if so, he needs even more advice
  24. He's a shadow, not an assassin, unfortunately our equivalent to low slash as you mentioned, spinning kick, is only usable in stealth mode. So it's not useful to us in PvE since we'd have to vanish, effectively ending the fight.
