  1. I have a low end system and I did check the box. I need to spend more time with it, but it does seem like it's running a fair bit smoother then before. I may actually go back and try some of the space missions that I ignored before because my laptop couldn't handle them real well.
  2. Well, I've played the agent a bit, and they have the accent part. Armor would be the challenge there since by "white knight" armor you are thinking of a more heavy look. This leaves you with the Bounty Hunter, maybe the Powertech advanced class. It's definitely a technology focus so that would fit. My suggestion would be to try both up to level 10 and see which fits the mold better and keep going with that one. I think only through playing the character will you be able to see which matches the vision you have best.
  3. I can't help since I play a sage, but you might try going to the Shadow specific forum and posting your question there since this is a general forum and those who are skilled at a specific AC tend to look at the class specific forums.
  4. Our guild leader has some fantastic threads on finding a sever: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?p=4467592 And then finding a guild: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=447172
  5. First, the name of the mission and the planet it's on are critical bits. Also, more specifically what you are having trouble with in regards to the mission. You might also consider posting in the class specific forums once you have the details.
  6. I think it has to do with the affect you would have on any lower level people you would group with in terms of XP. So they didn't want the group finder to be used that way.
  7. That's right - it works like any other orange gear. With 1.3 it's nice since it will cost less to remove mods from gear. Also you'll want to make sure to add the augment slot to the social gear with the augment kits.
  8. If you are on Windows 7 or Windows Vista: C:\Users\< Username >\AppData\Local\SWTOR\swtor\settings\GUIProfiles * If you are still on Windows XP, the path is slightly different, it is: C:\Documents and Settings\< user name >\Local Settings\Application Data\SWTOR\swtor\settings\GUIProfile * If you are on Windows7 and can't see the AppData files onward, it may be hidden. Go to: a) Open organize b) Folder search options c) View tab d) Show hidden files The above was taken from the SWTORUI.COM website - you can go there for additional help.
  9. Well, the only way you could transfer your characters like that would be paid server transfer, which BW has not confirmed. You might consider rolling a new character on The Ebon Hawk, which is now the main East Coast RP-PVE server, especially if there is a story line you haven't tried. I know there are a lot of guilds on Ebon Hawk, with a range of light to heavy RP. With 1.3 coming out today you might be able to use the group finder to help you see how you like it there. It might be worth a few days of investment to see how you like the community and the players. The same may be true of the west coast server mentioned above - I just don't have any experience there.
  10. The other big one is guildportal.com - it's also ad-supported in the free version and has forum limits.
  11. Your system is pretty low end. I have one just barely above it and I have to run everything on low settings. You have only 3GB ram and your video card uses shared memory, so you're not going to get much performance. If this is a PC and not a laptop, you could upgrade the video card, but with a low end older processor and low ram it's not going to help that much. You might be better off saving up a little more and going for a new setup with a better processor and more RAM.
  12. The cheapest method for gear is really getting commendations from planets and using those to buy orange (custom) gear and then the appropriate mods. Crafting is going to be more expensive since you can't gather everything you need from nodes on the planets and the crew skill missions will add up in a hurry. For those slots where you can't get orange gear via comms, the GTN is your best best, especially if you're playing on a decent population sever. As for the legacy question, there is a preference setting so that is shows your legacy name under your character name and title instead of as a last name.
  13. You should see a legacy exp message right after one for regular exp - it's in the yellow general text so if you've modified your chat tabs to hide that text you may not be seeing it. Also, building your family tree you need to drag one character on top of another and then select the relationship.
  14. I suspect they have the cap throttled back because part of the servers resrouces are tied up having a flood of characters copied to it from 5 other servers. My guess is that these queues are a temporary side effect of the transfer process.
  15. This should point you in the right direction: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=447172 Other useful threads are found in the sticky at the top of this forum.
  16. If they did this, I wonder what they would do if it was on Coruscant or Nar Shadda. That's a long drop.
  17. Well, IMHO, you get out of it what you put in it. Yes, any RP server is supposed to filled with people wanting to role play, but quality RP needs to be set-up and organized. Hence finding a good guild with good people would result in much better RP. Now, if all you are looking for is a few random encounters where you are IC and that's all you want, then picking any RP server should work just fine. Otherwise, yes, would need to do at least some research.
  18. I'm going to plug my guild leader's most informative thread on this subject: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=465012 That should get you started, and once you have a server picked out, the Ideal Guild Quiz will help you find a strong RP guild. That's also in the above thread.
  19. Dulfy has a list of rewards from the Heroic missions and the planetary bonus series: Republic Empire I haven't seen anything for the class quests or the other quest series which reward gear.
  20. Try looking over this data from dulfy.net - seems to be very thorough: http://dulfy.net/2012/03/01/numerical-swtor-population-data-for-pvprp-pvp-servers/
  21. Your companions are fixed. Your only choice is which one you have summoned. It does sound interesting to think about being able to choose which companions join your cause but I doubt we'd ever see that due to the amount of development that would require.
  22. I just completed the Czerka quest series on Tatooine and one of the reward options was Custom Gloves. Torhead doesn't list them as a possible loot option, so I don't know if it's random which custom piece you get offered. I'm sure it has something to do with me being a Jedi Sage since they were light armor gloves with Willpower mods already installed.
  23. Not sure which specific abilities you refer to as striking abilities, but you may have moved your focus generating strike ability out of slot one and are trying to right-click to attack and the ability in slot one requires focus you do not have. As for the red tint, it generally means the ability will not work on the current target (i.e. you've targeted a friendly) or you are out of range for that ability.
  24. Based on what you posted, I'm guessing you have an integrated video card. My system is almost the same as yours and I had to set all the graphics options down to the lowest settings in the options. You may also need to check which graphics unit you have and make sure it supports Shader 3.0 as some of them do not.
  25. Also, Newegg has a three part video on building your own PC. Plus they have DIY combos which can also give you ideas on what components to buy: http://www.newegg.com/Store/Promotion.aspx?storeid=33&name=DIY-PC-Combos
