  1. Right. I'll get right on that, thanks. Now, take your meds and go nighty-night.... <wanders off, idly speculating on the exact location of the mythical "11" and "12" keys>
  2. No, actually, we can't in many cases, and neither can you. That's the reason an Assist Focus function is needed.
  3. Spoken like someone who is uber-leet in their own mind but has apparently never attempted the Kephess fight... it is impossible for ranged dps to find, much less target, the Warstrider, who MUST die first, in the swarm of Trandoshan Trenchcutters that spawn under the purple shield domes. Also, dps can wipe a group by pulling aggro if they attack any mob that is not being tanked. Again, if the mobs are spread out, manual targeting is not such a problem; but if they are swarming, or a lot of junk is on the screen such as explosions or other shimmery effects, it is not possible to manually target the correct mob with any degree of certainty. This is not a new issue- every other MMO I have played (4 majors and several minors) have had an "Assist Focus" function, or the ability to write a macro to Assist the Focus. So the answer to "why would anyone want it" is: it is needed, and it is the norm in most other MMOs.
  4. He specifically said WITHOUT having to target a party member first. Most other MMO's that I have played have a function to "Focus" a party member (the Alt+F function in SWTOR) and then another function to "Target Focus's Target." I believe what the OP and I want to know is if such a "Target Focus's Target" function exists in SWTOR. That is not at all the same thing as "Target Target's Target."
  5. Does this work moving from a 32-bit XP box to a 64-bit W7 box, or do I need to start over with a new digital download onto the 64-bit box?
  6. Beef up his melee dps stance? Isn't he a healer, not a melee DPS Companion? Don't Agents have Kaliyo and SCORPIO for melee dps? I agree that switching stances without being commanded to needs to be fixed, but expecting a Healer to do more than a token amount of damage (ranged OR melee) isn't realistic IMHO.
  7. I totally agree with and support this! There is WAY too much "busy work" involved in getting to and from your ship. From (random location on planet) to the spaceport, to the orbital station, finally to my ship... and two of those have interminable loading screens... for what? The total population aboard my ship is, um (...carry the seven...) approximately ONE. Why does it take a 2-minute loading screen to get aboard my ship when I just suffered through a 2-minute loading screen to get from the spaceport to the orbital station? The Fleet Pass on an 18-hour cooldown absolutely does NOT take the place of this QT-to-ship function due to the insane cooldown. Definitely, a "QT to my ship" function on a 30-minute cooldown would be awesome and mitigate some of the gnashing-of-teeth caused by the current excruciating multi-steps-with-loading-screens process.
  8. If not a "go to X" button, how about simple "Stay" and "Follow" buttons at least? I agree with this poster that some form of Companion positioning control would be awesome.
  9. My Doctor Lokin is an awesome healer and enables me to solo 2-man Heroics all the time. He also heals us when a guildie and I 2-man a 4-man Heroic. As others have said, turn off his attacks and gear him up (mine is all Columi & Exotech purples except for 1 orange with #56 mods) flip him to Passive and back if he gets out of range and he will be a great healer.
  10. Nah, degrees are just fancy pieces of paper. People without JOBS shouldn't be allowed to vote in elections.
  11. This nails it. And it should be your ENTIRE Legacy, not just within a faction. Putting your own alts on a Friends list isn't useful, but this poster got the point: put them on the drop-down for mailing, not only for convenience but to avoid mis-addressing mail. As info, my other-faction alts' names do not even self-complete in mail addresses like guildies and friends do.
  12. I think the OP and this comment are apples and oranges. Yes, Snipers have very high dps IN GROUPS where they can stay in cover and pew-pew continuously. The phrase "given any amount of uptime" is the key- Snipers don't have the luxury of much uptime when trying to solo multi-mob missions below level 48 or so because they have no viable crowd control whatsoever... Leg Shot is on too long a cooldown to be very useful. And yes, Snipers *can* be charged while in cover, and knocked out of cover ("exposed") by several means. Snipers can use Entrench to avoid being knocked out of cover for a few seconds, but again, short duration ability on a long cooldown. As far as I know, Snipers are the only Class with neither a stealth ability nor any meaningful crowd control ability. Making the situation even worse, Snipers don't get their healing Companion (Dr. Lokin) until level 42 or so, and they don't get their melee tank (SCORPIO) until almost 50. This makes it excruciatingly difficult (and occasionally impossible) for Snipers to solo multi-mob missions on all but the last couple of planets. So I agree with the OP that some kind of cc for leveling Snipers is a must.
  13. So because there are bugs in the game we shouldn't make suggestions to improve the game? We shouldn't make suggestions that involve "a lot of work?" How do you know that changing some of the one-line dialog "previews" to align with their actual dialogs is "a lot of work?" Are you a BW developer? Or just a troll... Oh really? And what option would that be, exactly? Which tab is it on and what is the name of it?
  14. The dialog choice system (mostly with quest-givers and -takers) is fatally flawed: 1. The little preview choices do not match the actual dialog that ensues when you choose that option. For example, when using the Intercom to talk to my crew about Overseer Harkun and my soon-to-be new Apprentice Xalek, one visible option is "I trust him." But when you choose that option, what comes out of your mouth is the complete opposite: "Harkun knows better than to cross me!" which indicates a complete LACK of trust in Harkun but rather an enforced alliance based on fear. This mismatch between previews and resulting dialog makes trying to gain affection with your Comps a real grind, a pain in the drain and not fun at all because there is no correlation between what you choose and what comes out of your mouth. 2. The dialog choices are conveniently numbered so that mousing is not required in order to engage in a dialog. This is a good thing. However, using keyboard numbers to select a dialog option frequently results in a GOTCHA! when you find out too late that you have unknowingly chosen a Light or Dark option. Please show the Alignment icons (Light and Dark) next to ALL dialog choices without the need to slow everything down and mouse over each option one at a time to make the Alignment icons appear. Not showing the Alignment icons effectively KILLS using the keyboard numbers for dialogs. Thanks.
  15. Game was fairly stable, only maybe 1-2 CTD's (Crash To Desktop) a week, playing 6-8 hours a day 7 days a week. This didn't seem too bad to me- every new MMO has stability issues at first, and it seemed BW was on top of this. Sadly, since 1.2, and especially since the unscheduled Thursday bug-fix patch, I am getting 2-3 CTD's PER NIGHT! This, coupled with the insanely-long loading screens (why should it take a 2-minute load screen to go from my ship, population ONE, to an Orbital Station, population ONE?) makes it very tedious to play. More than once, I have just not bothered logging back in after the third CTD in a given evening. It's just not worth the hassle.
  16. On my server (Shien) it is next to impossible to find a group for anything that does not begin and end on the Fleet. Without fail, I have had to leave almost all the group quests undone when I leave a planet because it is simply NOT POSSIBLE to get a group to do them. Sometimes I come back and solo them when I reach a high enough level, but by then the rewards are meaningless. Usually I just abandon them. I believe that this is due to two core issues: 1. Server populations are incredibly low since 1.2. I won't say that people are leaving the game (i.e. cancelling their subscriptions), but they sure aren't online playing SWTOR as much as they used to. How can you get a group to do your 4-mans when the entire population of the planet is 3, even during prime-time evening hours? Fixing the bugs and server mergers NOW should be Priority One to retain players/customers. 2. The LFG system is useless- nobody uses it at all. We need a system that automatically compares OUR group quests with other people's group quests and alerts us when there's a match.
  17. I have my character's head slot hidden, but her new Rakata Chest has a HOOD and now I can't see my face or hair any more. People select "hide head slot" for one reason: we want to see our characters' face and hair. So what is the point of "hide head slot" when other pieces of gear countermand our stated preference? Please, make "Hide Head Slot" include chest-piece hoods as well. Then extend it to Comps! I am SO tired of Kaliyo's stupid hat and Dr. Lokin's hockey mask and Vector's lovely<gag> pink curlers head-piece!
  18. /signed I read something months ago that this feature (hide Comp's head slot) was going to be in 1.2 release. But NOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo..... What happened to it? Please, this is not a hard fix to implement and based on all the chatter here and elsewhere, one of the most-wanted improvements in the game!
  19. Recently, I have gotten TWO false (wrong, incorrect, misinformed) responses to in-game help petitions: 1. I reported that a Crew Skill item did not show as Trainable until my skill was one point higher than the required skill level. Specifically, I had to reach 161 Skill in Synthweaving before the items requiring 160 skill level appeared in the Crew Skill Trainer's dialog window with the filter set to "Trainable." The response was that "this is working as designed," which is absurd. Nobody in their right mind would design a system that states that the required level is 160 but you really secretly need 161 to train it. The "trainable" filter is just wonky- sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. But saying it's "by design" when it doesn't work correctly is just silly, nonsensical and wrong. 2. Right after 1.2 release, I reported that I was unable to send an item from one of my Imp characters to one of my Pub characters even though the release notes said that I should be able to do so. The response was "this is working as designed- only Bind-To-Legacy items can be mailed between factions." Again, this is just plain WRONG, as we all have proven over and over again by mailing *any* items back and forth freely across factions. Please, get some new Droids or educate the ones you have. They are giving customers bad information.
  20. Show my own debuffs on a target LARGER and FIRST. The way it is now, I can't tell my own DoTs from other identical DoTs by others of the same Class. This makes it almost impossible to know for sure when to renew my DoTs. In a large Operation group with several members of the same Class, I find myself "renewing" someone else's DoT, which means I am wasting the Energy for that DoT because mine didn't need to be renewed yet.
  21. Suggestions to fix the dysfunctional maps: 1. Show my own quest symbols (objectives, gateways) in green even when I'm in a group. The way it is now, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to see my own quests when I'm in a group because grouping just automatically turns ALL quest symbols purple, creating astounding clutter with degraded information. 2. Put in a toggle to turn off (and on) group quest info completely even when grouped. This will help with the clutter. 3. Show ALL of the map symbols at ANY range, not just if they are close to me. If I want to find a vendor, the current range-sensitive display is useless unless I happen to be close to one already. 4. Possibly related to the above: show all enabled map symbols even at the World scale. In cases where the scale of the selected map makes multiple symbols at the same location, show a single symbol of a different color. 5. Fix all of the missing map items. For example, the mailboxes that don't show on the Lower Promenade in Nar Shaddaa. 6. Allow the user to select and display ANY zone in that world, not just the zone that I'm in.
  22. I, too, was caught unawares by the way the game changes the name I input to something different. I input a Legacy name similar to "van Heusen," but it didn't like the space character. So I changed it to "vanHeusen," and it gave no indication that it wouldn't accept that. After confirming that it said "vanHeusen" in the confirmation window, I accepted it. Imagine my surprise when it appeared over my head as "Vanheusen," the game having chosen its own version of how the name should be capitalized, never mind what I input and what the confirmation window confirmed... how rude! Why restrict Legacy names? they have no actual functionality in-game (chat, grouping) like regular character names do, so why not allow customers to actually choose their Legacy names unrestricted? I just don't get the logic... BioWare should rethink this, remove the capitalization restrictions on both character names and Legacy names, make sure all name-confirmation windows show EXACTLY what the name will be in-game, then give everyone one free character and Legacy name change with subsequent changes as paid services.
  23. Sorry, respectfully disagree. There was a discussion on the devs forum a while back (prolly still there if you care to search it out) about Neutral players and giving them a beneficial path similar to the Light and Dark perks. Clearly, there is no requirement or "rule" that would mandate that a player would be any particular alignment by level 50. By design, it is quite possible to reach level 50 with a zero score (or very close to it) on both Light and Dark, i.e. a Neutral alignment. I can see (story-wise) that a Neutral alignment would be particularly appropriate for Bounty Hunters, who presumably would work for any faction and do pretty much anything that paid well. Besides, if we used Light or Dark (which are analogues of Good and Evil) to decide sides in Warzones, the Darks would be trying to kill everything in sight (including each other) while the Lights would be passing out healing items to everyone, Dark and Light, while trying to arrange treaties, truces, cease-fires-while-we-work-this-out, etc. etc. and crying "can't we all just get along???" I personally don't think Light and Dark can even remotely replace factions.
  24. I vote for the first option: link the chest with the associated (or even protectively co-located) mobs. Period. There is no excuse for Ninja looting, plus it is antisocial, rude, lazy, unethical, despicable, narcissistic, sociopathic and totally without any justification whatsoever except to a criminal mind. Since we as players on non-PvP servers can't just kill the selfish jerks, the game devs should take steps to eliminate such behavior. Either have the mobs drop the loot directly (eliminating the chest altogether) or link the nearby chest(s) to the mob. Isn't there a "Report Harassment" option? Isn't Ninja-ing a form of harassment? PS: I just had a brain-flash! Force-flag anyone who loots a chest while someone not grouped with them is fighting the associated mob! Then we COULD just kill the jerks! Do this even on RP servers.
