  1. "This server is locked - you may only create characters on this server if you have a character on this server already."
  2. Clearly they did this to prevent free people from rolling on near-empty servers. Do they appear locked to players that have chars on them?
  3. That's not true .. we have scheduled 100-200 people open world PVP matches on Jung Ma and it's surprisingly okay.
  4. Well, nice knowing you AP'ers! Enjoyed having you on Jung Ma while it lasted.
  5. I agree. We should answer ... Sure I'll join you, if you use the new LFG tool
  6. I want a button that says "Level to 50 and get best available gear" AND I want someone else to push it for me. I also want a button that automatically spams the forums with messages like "This game sucks after 50. Total fail, everyone I know is unsubbing." But seriously, I'm loving crafting. Lots of fun to do while I'm supposed to be doing something else.
  7. I've been playing both healer and DPS through LFG these last two days, and I'm curious. What's the effective difference between healing and DPS? I'm spamming targets either way, With one, the bars go up, with the other, the bars go down. Personally, as healer, I get gratitude from real humans, though as DPS, no one really notices what I contribute. And as healer, I have a much better view of what's really going on throughout the game. I can see and anticipate the dynamics of bosses, the playstyles of my group mates, etc, etc. With DPS it's Zap The Tank Target, repeat, repeat. Maybe I'm just new at DPS, but healing is much more fulfilling to me. Yeah, you get yelled at if you're spacey for a minute and let people die, but .. I kinda deserve it then. And as for tanks ... they're Rock Stars. I follow them around, loving their initiative ... they're the quarterbacks. TL;DR; Best way to encourage more tanks & healers ... BRAG about why they're so much fun to play.
  8. I'd even go so far as to say it's working TOO well Sometimes I'll queue, intending to get a little work done, then before I know it, I'm in. I'm getting pops as healer AND damage. (Latter surprised me).
  9. And and just in case someone didn't mention this ... the PVP window, if you scroll to the bottom, says that there WILL be "cross-server matches" in season one. MATCHES, not groups.
  10. I'm having absolutely no problems on Jung Ma. No queue's at all. Get in the game right away, LFG pops within a few minutes, PVP pops within a few minutes. GTN is overflowing with goodness and my sales go through same day. AND I'm getting to know a bunch of new people from LFG that I then choose to play with later. Someone's doing something right.

    What's your Elo?

The same team is now up to 1785.

    What's your Elo?

Hi all. I'm curious to see how Elo ranks for PVP are doing around the servers. After day one, our highest on Jung Ma is 1645, held by three members of Order of Shadow. What's your Elo?
  13. As a software developer and follower of many open-source communities, I know what it's like to have open communication between users/players and developers. It can be great, or it can suck. It's all about signal to noise, and whether people give you useful information that helps development or not. From what I've seen from these forums, there's a LOT of unproductive complaining, usually on all sides of an issue, with very little that seems to keep the full game in mind. Besides this, as a software manager & scrum leader, it always comes down to triage ... what are the highest priority issues with the lowest risk that will take the shortest time to complete. It's never just about community wishes ... it's about difficulty of changes and risk to the source and availability of talent, etc, etc. A real balancing act. Add to this that developers aren't the best, most tactful, communicators, particularly when lots of people are extremely rude, it's no wonder they're not responding directly. Many I'm sure would get into shouting matches after a bit ... I know I have, and personally I'd rather have them working on the game than yelling at the forums. Could it be more open? Yeah. A public issue tracker would be great. Do I think Bioware is communicating well enough? Yeah. You guys have no idea how much such vitriol affects morale. If I were their manager, I'd tell the developers to wait for the santized summaries from CS and not read the forums directly. This place is tough.
  14. Both times I queued yesterday on Jung Ma were very quick, with great groups. (Level 37 flashpoints) Of course, I'm a healer, so that might have something to do with it. I love the group finder! Can actually do flashpoint dailies without begging.
  15. Jung Ma had a great first day. Please post your server-specific threads here once you set them up.
  16. Jung Ma had a great first day of ranked matches. Order of Shadow seems to be coming out on top, as many expected. We're still trying to figure out how to detail all this. Thoughts are welcome.
  17. Ranked warzones are open! Let us lowbies in on the news!
  18. And so it begins. Create & post your server threads!
  19. Congrats to everyone at Bioware who helped make this happen. You've had an epic month!
  20. I guess this is moving to a kind of league ... server-specific anyway. My server is just starting to list team rosters, so we'll see what starts happening tomorrow. I think the way to go is to have guilds/teams use personal Elo's to choose their teams, and the "league" seed teams according to their av-elo, but have the actual Elo's have nothing to do with team ranks. It's just for seeding, so teams get matched better. Win/losses in the brackets determine league play. Perhaps by the end of the pre-season, we'll have a selection of best-of-server teams.
  21. Hi everyone, We're discussing how to turn *Player Elo* into *team rankings* on our server (thread) This is likely leading to a custom web app (which I can write) to gather, crunch, and display the numbers. I'll make it so any server can have their own section, with each guild/team having their own page, etc. All free, with no ads. Before I do this though, we need to decide how to do it ... what's fair, what's useful, what's misleading, etc. At this point, I see two approaches, perhaps both simultaneously: 1) TEAM AV-ELO. Guilds or teams choose their favorite team of eight and we take their Elo at a given time and average it. This is that team's current av-elo. This av-elo can be used for bogus bragging rights on a server, and even more bogus bragging rights between servers. Is it accurate? Is it fair? Probably not, but you know you want to see it 2) SCHEDULED BRACKETS. Using team av-elo to seed teams, we schedule matches between teams and record the results with screenshots (hopefully with streaming via Twitch, etc). Since we cannot start two teams fighting each other at a given time, we'll say "Team A and Team B will play ranked matches between 8 and 12, and the first three times they play each other will count as official." Of course, such details will become clear as we see how things go. We can then have a kind of double-elimination bracket system for each server that parallels the individual Elo rankings. A lot of work? Probably. But why wait for Bioware to get team-focused? Let's start this ourselves. Oh, by the way, if you want to start a Team PVP thread on your server forum, let me know about it here.
  22. Oh for the love of all that's holy, could someone with SQL access at Bioware at least say, "Getting warmer", "getting colder" We know you're reading this, chuckling to yourself. In fact, they might be changing the caps on the spot as each new guess comes in. Or even .... a range of cap maxes, that randomize each day. (I probably would do this as a goof, knowing that internally there's no need for these arbitrary level labels in their stats)
  23. Hi everyone, Here's a list of server-specific threads that discuss pre-season PVP stats, teams, and news. * Jung Ma Please respond if you'd like me to add your thread. Also, feel free to use this thread to announce updates to your thread and to show some server pride so the rest of SWTOR can follow along. If you plan to stream via Twitch, let us know the teams & times and I'll post them in the calendar following this post. If you have videos of past battles, I'll include them in the list below that.
