  1. Sorry, but I can't help but laugh at what some people call "maturity"
  2. He's part of the EU. The EU is dead. So.... <time to go and hide from the inevitable flame storm>
  3. SWTOR vanilla 3 of 5 stars Makeb 3 of 5 stars (tempted to say two since I obviously will only do 1 imp and 1 rep toon to 55...then never again...unless future content has higher level class stories to make it worth it...which doesn't sound like is happening if what someone posted earlier is true)
  4. I played my Chiss Operative with the mindset that Chiss are creatures of order and the Empire represents the best option for maintaining order. That does not necessarily mean being a recklessly wanton bloodthirsty killer. In serving the empire, he did make some dark side choices but most were light.
  5. If a currently unavailable item is required for an achievement then make the item available again during a periodic event. Shouldn't be rocket science Bioware...
  6. Yes, I get that bug once in a while. Logging out then back in is sometimes the only way to fix it. There have been a couple of times where I got it while grouped with my wife. Putting myself in follow mode to her (and vice versa when it happens to her) also seems to fix it.
  7. My old guild full of casuals (not sure if they're still around), cleared Terror on our second night shortly after it released (and I NEVER complain about something being too easy). Many of us faded away after that. The only reason I'm still subbed is to help my wife if she runs into something she can't solo. She still likes the game. I too really had high hopes for this game and defended it from haters as much as any fanbois (star wars fan since 1977...Han shot first). There was a lot I liked when it launched, but over time its deficiencies wore me down. I could never run another toon through Taris or Belsavis ever again. Just ain't happening. The only way it will happen is if I use enough Cartel Coins (CE and monthly stipend adds up lol) to buy the xp boosts and only do class quests and an fp here and there. There's still a couple of class quests I haven't completed yet, but the bug is gone. There were so many good suggestions that would have helped this game, but they were shot down by the fanbois who couldn't handle the thought of anyone having the audacity to criticize any part of this game. They were far more damaging to the game in the long run than any of the haters. Anyway Urael, we didn't always agree, but you've been a great contributor to this forum. I for one will miss seeing your posts.
  8. OK, this is twice in an hour that I've agreed with Andryah. Can someone please check the temperature in....the downstairs furnace please? ;-) There's an old saying in the military: "If you find yourself in a fair fight, you've screwed up big time!" That principle applies to MMO PvP. If you're finding yourself in alot of 1v1 while doing warzones, etc. then you're doing it wrong. As for me, when I look at my experience healing up to Terror for my old guild on my Scoundrel and then read those notes...I'm like Holy Crap! Healing the main tank as a scoundrel before was ridiculously easy (and people who know me will you tell you I NEVER complain about something being too easy!). Now it appears that Scoundrel healers are going to be even more ridiculous.
  9. Agreed. It started with CE owners making sure it was noted in their sigs. Not all CE owners are that way, in fact I think most aren't, but those few certainly give the rest of us a bad name. I'm a CE owner, and though I hardly play the game anymore (mostly to help my wife who still thinks it's the greatest game ever), I still have the cool statue of Malgus on my computer desk as well as the other goodies that came with it. Though the game, for the most part, has been a disappointment for me, I still don't feel ripped off (at least if I ever do, it's not for the CE but the game itself).
  10. I, personally, never "upgrade" my OS. When I get my next computer, THEN I'll get the new OS. It's an old habit from some of Microsofts past "upgrades."
  11. Yes Tim, the sky is indeed falling! You obviously don't live here in the Pacific NW! We're getting dumped on here! You make a very good case and present it well. There's not much denying that SWTOR is a success compared to most other MMO's (though it's like comparing a Corgi to chihuahuas with WoW as a Great Dane). Despite how disappointed I've been in SWTOR, it's only the second MMO in history to keep my interest for more than 2 months. It's been a couple of weeks since I've seriously logged in, but I still desire to finish the class stories so I keep popping back in. With all that said, I still find it hard to put a positive spin on the sub losses, the dev departures and going f2p so relatively soon after Greg's remarks on the subject. I'll concede that much of it is opinion and perspective whereas you bring numbers. Your argument would be the more compelling one in a court of law, I'll concede (except perhaps that in a court of law we might could subpoena the actual figures as opposed to the vague '500k to 1 million lol).
  12. In WoW, I got to the point where I only ran with guildies on my Paly tank. We had some awesome tanks in that guild who would run their dps alts with me and gave great advice. Most of my groups on dps and healing alts were much better. As someone who almost always plays a healer as his main, I have to say that tanks get it the worst, but healers aren't far behind.
  13. QFT. I've encountered the same situation.
  14. You make good points, but I have to disagree with one point. I found ICC and RS far harder to heal (even with Healbot and Decursive) than anything in this game! Terror is cake once everyone figures out positioning (and my healing Scoundrel is now on ice). I do agree that it's kind of a catch-22 for devs: Either make it simple enough so that tanking and healing can be done by a wide range of skill levels or make it challenging so that it's fun for the more skilled players. Not sure there's a happy medium there.
  15. Solid B. Before the first set of merges, I'd have given it a D. There are still days where I'd give it a C, but for the most part it is a fun game despite its many disappointments and I keep coming back. Once I finish the last of the class stories (going slow), then we'll see where I am at as far as sticking around. I've watched two very good, fun guilds go from 200 active members to 20. I have no desire to make a third attempt.
  16. I wouldn't call the book "required" by any stretch, but it is certainly in the "nice to have" category. I bought it and don't feel ripped off. There are more valid things to criticize than this IMHO.
  17. LOL! I couldn't believe no one mentioned that one until page 13. First time I heard that she had to take all the mobs herself, because I was in no condition to help. She is quite funny, but I too find her irritating (as some others have said, I don't go for the punk look either). And trust her? Anyone who does deserves their fate. With that said, she was well done, though it was a relief to finally get another companion option once Vector joins. Raina Temple replaced him as soon as available as well. As for next Republic, I vote Elara, though I wouldn't be disappointed if Nadia, Kira, T7, or Corso came up either For Imperial, I vote Raina Temple, though Vette, Mako, Vector, Quinn, and Jaesa would be cool too.
  18. That is my understanding as well. Alot of the drama and conjecture comes from the way one of the EA execs (or was it a Bioware dev...been a while since I read it) waffled on the question about whether or not people with subs would have to pay extra for Makeb when it comes out or not.
  19. If you're comparing WoW's level 90 endgame to SWTOR's level 50 endgame then you're probably right (I quit WoW after Cataclysm so I can't really say). WoW however has ALOT more to do at max level (at least it did at the time I quit) than SWTOR has. Perhaps the way I use the term endgame is wrong too. I use it to mean "What to do after hitting max level". But I agree, endgame is just one of SWTOR's problems and as others have pointed out, there's enough people who quit the game without reaching max level to suggest those other problems as perhaps being more major than endgame issues. Anyway, XCOM comes out tomorrow so I'll have something to do for a while in between raid nights (assuming my guild has anymore now that we've downed Terror).
  20. Again, SWTOR is competing with WoW as it is now, not with WoW as it was at launch. No, that's not fair, but neither is life. It's kind of hard to have faith in Bioware at this point, with so many devs gone and with the way they try to put a positive spin on the loss of subs. A bug-tastic 1.4 hasn't helped either. Yet here I sit waiting and hoping. Yes, the true haters are annoying, but so are the fanbois who have shot down some very good suggestions simply because a suggestion implies that the game isn't perfect as is.
  21. And you completely ignored my point (hypocrit much? lol) I was responding to someone who was blaming the state of the game on WoW and its players. And again, you were comparing WoW at launch to SWTOR at launch. As I said before, SWTOR and any other game being released is competing with WoW as it is now, not as it was years ago. And you also ignored where I agreed that it leads to expectations being unrealistic. That's part of the reason why I believe there will never again be an MMO that has the level of success that WoW had. Is SWTOR good? Yes, I still play it after all. Is it great? IMHO no. Would I like to see it turn it around? Sure! Am I still a "hater" since I presume to criticize anything at all about this game? Definitely, the fanbois branded me a traitor long ago
  22. LOL. I've been saying it for quite some time actually and sorry, but doc has me on diet. No cookies nor bacon in our household I'm afraid. I do have some diabetic friendly candy bars though that are ALMOST as good as a Mounds or a Payday.
  23. Matter of opinion. Failure can also mean that it didn't meet expectations (which I think is an accurate description). As for the OP, I think the KOTOR age is quite fine. Then again, I enjoyed KOTOR and KOTOR2 and love the little lore connections dispersed througout the game. Overall, I find it fun, but it definitely did not meet expectations. There are tons of disappointments, but then that's life.
  24. Yea, let's blame it on WoW instead of SWTOR's own failures WoW is the reason that 2 million copies of SWTOR sold WoW is the reason that only 1.7 million of those 2 million led to subscriptions WoW is the reason there was only 1.3 million a few months later WoW is the reason that a few months later we were down to "over 500k but under 1 million" WoW is the reason that the game was announced as going f2p when just a few months earlier Greg made his comment to the contrary. WoW is the reason so many big names have left the company, mere months after they told us what makes SWTOR unique is that they're keeping the team together to develop more content... Now, quoting the above facts will, of course, get me branded a "hater" despite the fact that I still play the game and still consider it an overall fun game despite its failures (don't worry, I'm used to it and have somewhat embraced it). As for endgame, now that my guild (a very casual guild at that) has cleared Terror, we now have what to do? People in our guild are already going on another haitus. For me, it's back to the alt's class stories. Soon, there won't be even that. Yes, WoW has been out many years, but SWTOR (and other new games) isn't competing with WoW as it was years ago. It's competing with WoW as it is now. Unrealistic expectations due to that? Perhaps, but it is what it is. I quit WoW myself shortly after Cataclysm and have no desire to go back and I certainly didn't want SWTOR to be "WoW in space" (and I laugh at those who call it such). Despite that, you have to admit there are some things they did right to have been as successful as they were, so it would be foolish to say "No! They did that in WoW! We can't do that here!" without at least considering what positives it might bring to the table.
