  1. it has to do with the fact that so many story cutscenes take place on your ship. The assets that are placed in the cutscenes are not dynamic and cannot be moved around freely. What if you put a table or a chair or some terminal in the place where Vette is supposed to stand during the cutscene? What happens to her? The coding can't simply ignore it, and you'd probably get some type of errors or coding crash because of it. They opted instead to give a personal instanced area that allows for personal furniture placement. It was easier to do, and depending on how you view strongholds, a better use of their resources.
  2. There isn't another SW mmo being developed. This is it for at least the near and possibly far future, as long as EA has the exclusive license.
  3. Actually, plenty of people have been making the suggestion for a very very long time to make old ops, fp's and previous content to be relevant again. Why make 3 years of content if it's only going to be run once and done. Rescaling is a perfect solution. Actually, i'd bet a ton of people would like to run the old content again, but nobody does, because it doesn't provide anything for current max level characters. That's exactly what GW2 does. ALL their content stays relevent as it's all scalable. So does STO, LOTRO. This should have happened awhile ago.
  4. I guess you're big on hyperbole and making *$@# up. This has literally been known since about 2 years ago. http://www.engadget.com/2013/11/20/ea-holds-onto-star-wars-games-license-for-10-years-says-swtor-i/ try again troll.
  5. Clipping, clipping, and more clipping. That was the reason they gave awhile back ago. It was briefly fixed on test again, sometime around 1.7 or something, but broke when moved over to live again. Since then, it's just gone to the wayside. I've just filed it under, never gonna happen.
  6. There's........grass in this game? I guess I didn't notice it with all the bodies I left littering the ground.
  7. I'll comment on just a couple. For the hanging cloak on vehicles. It simply isn't going to happen. And the devs have stated several times why. It has to do with the way mounts are designed as pass through objects so as to not allow blocking of choke points and terminals. AS a pass through object, the cloth physics can't interact with the object and so it's going to hang. It's not going to be adjusted, just going to have to deal with it. As to sub rewards, while they would be nice, I doubt at all it would increase player time. I play 3 mmos that have sub rewards, and none of their rewards system entice me to play those games more than this one that doesn't have a rewards system. If they added it, great. If not, wouldn't matter, would still play it. For unlocks, they have special sales where collections unlocks are heavily discounted, so watch out for those. Collections make them a lot of money, I doubt they're going to mess with one of their cash cows. Collections system is much easier to deal with than most games where you have to continually buy the item individually on each character, so, believe, there's a lot worse out there.
  8. They're going to be deleted. 6 years of development will simply be flushed down the toilet....... /sarcasm
  9. What does that have to do with the price of rice in China? REgardless, the comment about Darth Vader armor was just magical bovine excrement you pulled out of your ***. That's literally never been said anywhere ever. Disney doesn't own Bioware or TOR. At all. EA does. The only thing that Bioware is probably required to do according to the terms of their agreement is check with some liaison that if they're going to go in the direction of some new character that they've invented, that it won't somehow interfere with any plans Disney has for their upcoming movies or associated media. Otherwise, Bioware has free reign to tell their story within the realm of the old republic timeline. Nothing Bioware is doing is canon, and so won't be showing up in the movies in any capacity, and vice versa. Disney will be happy to collect their royalty payments that will come from EA's published games. If Disney wanted anything to do with game development or control of the games, they would have simply made their own game studio and bought everything up from EA. They didn't. They gave EA an exclusive license to publish Star Wars games, because they have proven it can make money. Beyond that, there is no crossover between the 2. Disney will keep their stuff separate, and so will BW/EA.
  10. While it is the biggest STORY expansion yet, I highly doubt it will be 80 gigs worth. It's not a new game, just expanding on the base game. Wow has been doing this for years. I swear, some players REALLY need to temper their expectations for the expansion, else they'll be here after the expansion releases complaining that it wasn't what they thought up in their head.
  11. Yeah, no. I know rule number one of your posts. That's not how licensing agreements work. I know. I deal with them quite often.
  12. Actually, no. Disney does not own this IP. They own the Star Wars brand name. Bioware, and by extension, EA owns TOR. Disney is licensing them the right to slap the Star Wars name on the box. They may have some input as to what Bioware cannot include so that it doesn't mess up their timeline, but this is Biowares story, not Disney. A "tie in" to the movies probability is 0. Bioware always has and always will do their own story.
  13. Expansion set? Do you mean by the expansion? If so, you're already buying it. It's free for subs. Just do what you're already doing, and when it releases, you got it.
  14. Says the guy who is akin to the straggly stranger on the street corner holding "The End is Nigh" sign. Yeah, those guys will be right, eventually......when they die. No matter how cloudy you think this game is, I think you need to get out and get some perspective. There's about a few dozen other games, some popular ip's, some not that are easily plowing along on a fraction of the money this game makes. Not to say SWTOR doesn't have it's problems, but it's not as grim as you and other "doom" prophets seem to think. Your "predictions" about the impending game destruction, is equally amusing as Harold Camping and his whackjob following was. I can find dozens of these doom posts on a quick little browse through the other 6 mmos I've rotated between for the last 5 years. All of them still open, all of them still actively being developed, none of them anywhere close to being mentioned in the top performing mmos currently live. Your right, i'll be sure to bookmark this thread for 5 years down the road and come back and have a laugh.
  15. The fact that you somehow believe there's a mysterious next start wars mmo as a follow up to this one is hilarious in its own right. Let me clue you in on how investors work. They don't say, "Hey, we spent a ton of money on this game to get it developed, and it didn't meet our expectations. I know, let's do it all over again! ". If it's currently profitable, and is making money, it runs until it doesn't. There isn't some magical swtor2 being developed. Much to the haters chagrin, this one is going to be around for awhile. See lotro, sto and any other major ip based mmos as examples. You might wanna get your head out of the clouds, you're getting dizzy.
  16. Well, the license has already been renewed. It was like 2 years ago. EA has the license to exclusively develop star wars games for pc and consoles for the next ten years, including this one. I love those kinds of comments because it just illustrates how deep their haterade runs. To blatantly spout such incorrect drivel is almost hilarious. A few months ago, I saw something like this on the sto forums concerning players thinking that the license was going to run out, and that they thought since other studio would get it. A friendly community manager popped in and said, "Actually guys, we have it for the next 15 years if we wish." Just vitriolic haters wishful thinking.
  17. In a nutshell, the license doesn't run out next year. Quit talking out your ***.
  18. Lol swtor2. Well now that its confirmed you're just trolling, we can go ahead and dismiss anything you say as irrelevant. You aren't even living in reality to begin with.
  19. Yeah, once again. No one cares what you think. You dont pay my sub, and I'll do whatever the hell I want in game. I fact, I'm going to jump on my female consular and dress her up in a bikini right this very second. How's that for lore.
  20. Regardless, this entire thread is ridiculous. Bioware isn't changing it. It's been this way for 3+ years, and it will continue to be this way. So.......... suck it up and move on, or get busy unsubbing over it. No one cares. If you think this 1 man crusade is going to accomplish anything, ask the guy thats made countless threads about the tracer missile animation how many ****s Bio ware gives. I'll give you a hint. It's 0.
  21. Read that again. It says EA invested up to 300 million to start swtor. Not that Disney then came in and reinvested 300m. That was the start up cost of the game
