  1. I rarely post on the forums but I have to clear something up real fast. Zen is one of the most useful utility and DPS increases available. With zen popped all DoTs crit, if you are saying that zen sacrifices DPS then try applying overload saber to three stacks and cauterize followed by force stasis and tell me what dps you are sacrificing. Additionally, a good watchman putting out lets say 500k damage in a match should have over 100k healing easily. Yes, a lot of that is self heal but in a pressure situations you are keeping yourself alive and helping healers have that extra little edge with zen. You commented on combat and focus being harder to kite. Every spec has leg slash......use it, cauterize can apply a slow if speced for it, watchman has no range on force leap (stop jumping at a sorcerer that you know is going to knock you back and save it), everyone has force camo to remove movement impairing effects and close gaps. I am not trying to say combat/focus suck and am hardly going to comment on watchman being the "best" spec. But don't spread bad information. All the specs can be viable and have a place in PvP (though I honestly can not wrap my head around focus still....to gimmicky LAWLZ SMASH)
  2. I would love to see more people come over to our server. Sadly there are really not many options for Republic PVP guilds besides CORE (new population would hopefully fix that). However, imperials have a nice selection of guilds to choose from. The PVP tournaments we have all ready held were well organized and executed.
  3. No, the point was not to say you should have that many stuns and utility spells. the point was that most classes have an ability to counter many aspects of what people are considering to be OP about a sent/marauder and I find that half of the population that QQ's about this never does any of these in a fight. Since I know Scoundrel best aside from a Sentinel here is an example: Rebuke/saberward is being popped, tendon blast and kite for 6 seconds. Force Camo is active, disappearing and wait to open up all over on them again when they are out. Gaurded by the Force is up, flash grenade and you still have "kick" to work in there at some point. Its not my responsibility to fill in the blanks for every class for you, learn your class and stop giving it a bad name.
  4. THIS........This a million times over, it needed to be said.
  5. After reading half of these posts it is really clear what the problem is. People want to stand there and spam attacks at a sent/marauder and just expect them to die without playing smart. The fact is if you are getting steamrolled by a sent/marauder learn to use your utility instead of being bad and spamming 4-5 buttons like most classes are now use to. Rebuke is up? it goes away if we don't take damage for six seconds, cc us for a few seconds Leg Slash/ cauterize slow? knock us back Guarded by the Force? CC us for a few seconds Force Camo? aoe stun (flash grenade, awe, etc.) We leap at you to apply dots? pop defensive CD's so we have trouble applying them Masterstrike? defensive CD's, knock back, sprint away Finally, and this is not that hard......learn to cleanse DoTs. The fact is that good sents/marauders have had to learn to be effective using 20 spells since level 20. I feel like I am playing a piano half the time and if I miss one thing (I.E hit rebuke when I am not taking damage) then my survivability is substantially decreased. Yes, I have a spell that can help me deal with tons of situations, but that means I need to know how every class plays so I know how to use those effectively. I can literally say that I steamroll bads and have a tough fight against any class that is smart. There are some "gimped" ops/scounds and sorc/sages on my server that are fantastic to fight because they are not stupid. So when I hit Force Camo and you don't aoe stun me, or cc me when I hit Guarded by the Force, yes I am going to beat you because you are terrible like most of the PvP population As many have said, everything is fine, L2P
  6. This alone was enough for me to stay Watchman, can I get an Amen
  7. With the changes to the Cauterize talent granting a 50% slow or conversely using leg slash if you have chosen to forgo that talent, you can effectively get off a full channel rotation of masterstrike. the only exception to this is if they use sprint or knock-back obviously. As a side note, who else is having fun watching a healer stand there and try to heal themselves like they use to through your damage, while you are doing DoTs > Stasis > Master Strike > Merciless Slash >Dispatch (especially since 30% now)
  8. With the now 50% slow from specing in Rupture/Cauterize or conversely using leg slash if you forgo that talent (sorry Sentinel lingo is what I am most use to), your opponent can't get away from Ravage/MS fast enough unless they knockback or sprint. This of course is negated if you have a healer that is smart and knows how to cleanse, but if you are annihilation and against a cleansing healer you are going to have problems to begin with
  9. There are tons of posts in the Sent/Mara forums which are people complaining about the difficulty in playing the class. The fact is that the they are not a faceroll class. You don't get to spam one ability like tracer missile, you can't force lightning and DoT everything at range then heal yourself to full and sprint away, You don't get heavy armor to feel invincible with, and you don't get to hang out in stealth with no worries. You have to micro manage at least 15 different situational abilities on short cooldowns and most people are terrible at this. Arguably the easiest spec to play is one in which you can AoE crit people for big numbers, which you are basically a one trick pony in. Let people spill over to sent/mara, they will be terrible and get frustrated and leave when they realize they are not easy. Also, if they actually take the time to make it to the 50 bracket I will take great joy in the free kills. FoTM is FoTM
  10. We all have different play styles, I still stand by the use of Sab charge as opposed to quick shot but to each their own I guess. Also, if I had a nickle for every time tendon blast saved me against some BM Marauder or Powertech I would have a crap ton of nickles. Its also great for when that healing sorc sprints away from you to go heal themselves. You mentioned that you usually don't need tendon blast due to the fact that with your rotation you generally kill people before its needed. However, I would like to see the way you use your rotation against a well played healer which seems to be one of the absent fights in the video (if I missed it I apologize). IMO thats were those small things I mentioned like flash grenade and tendon blast are really useful.
  11. Let me start by saying good video and thanks for posting. I am seeing similar results as you as I am in Mostly Champ gear. Just wanted to point out a few things as constructive food for thought 1.) work Sabotage charge into your rotation. It can crit on par with a back-blast and especially as an opener (or in between dirty kick), can provide tons of front end burst damage. I found a lot of success popping relics and opening with shoot first, adrenals, sab charge, backblast. If that rotation is not for you I would suggest at least using it after you slow someone with a Tendon Blast or if you are being kited. 2.) Flash grenade more, a few of those fights you could have closed the gap a little quicker or thrown a heal or two on yourself, especially useful if speced into "Exploratory Surgery" which would have given you two upper hand procs to unload with a vital shot and 2X sucker punch. Keep the videos coming. I immensely enjoy all the PvP video sharing as off recent since we all have a little we can learn from one another. On that note let the trolling commence
  12. I for one enjoyed the video and continue to ignore the qq posts about how people are quitting our class. Do we need fixed, yes of course there are problems. Is this class un-playable, no hardly. On a brighter note, thank you for helping me decide exactly where to fit Sab Charge into my rotation. I kept finding some sort of awkwardness figuring where to plug it in at. After watching the video I have started opening with short first - sab - backblast. This does a great amount of front end burst that I feel most scoundrels are missing out on Keep up the vids, nice to see other decent scoundrels play style.
  13. Since everyone else has turned this into a wishlist of what they want I am throwing my hat into the arena for a stealth toolbar. Simple, easy to implement, works just like the "cover" bar and turns on automatically as soon as I ht my stealth bind. BW should be able to figure that one out. Also, don't be surprised if when the patch 1.2 notes come out you see something like: Smuggler: -Stealth toolbars have been implemented similar to a cover toolbar. - There are no other changes at this time, scoundrel tears sustain us QQ more
  14. I use Smuggle in the beginning of WZ to freak people out that I just stealthed them since most people don't know we have the ability. It makes for a great shock value. I have found little use for it other than that. There were attempts in Alderaan to stealth the group as they rushed turrets so the enemy could not see them, similar attempts were made in Voidstar with bomb planting as well. However, I realized most people are incompetent and turn it off as soon as I cast it and therefore it has proved fairly useless. IMO making the range 20M instead of 10M might add a little utility or else you have to be like right on top of the group.
  15. P.S. let me run around with my shotgun out instead of my single blaster.....that is all
