  1. Too true. and people always wonder why nice guys finish last. Sometimes the flat out unrealistic BW plotting of romances drives me nuts.
  2. I think that they are planning a balance run to sages/sorcs that was too big to stuff into 1.2. I think they were dumptrucking in a bunch of stuff, that could be readily tested, and giving the sorc/sage adjustment it's own patch to test ramifications. remember, fixing 1 thing breaks 2 others.
  3. That pbaoe scream/slow thing should deliver like 500 damage points worth of threat. Make it part of the immortal tree.
  4. getting rid of time sinks in an MMO that is already timesink-light would make bad business sense.
  5. considering the fact that speeders are a set distance from the ground, how about adding some animated 'non speeder' vehicles? Dewbacks, Tauntauns, and banthas come to mind, as do non-hover vehicles like dune-buggy-esque trikes, battle crawlers, at-st type miniwalkers, and many other things that fit perfectly into the theme. at the very least, add some rideable beasts! That is VERY star wars. As vanity mounts alone they would add to the playerbase.
  6. eve- hard SF game star wars- space opera. sorry, while I agree that having fighters and small vessels blow stuff up to a backdrop of epic fleet battles is COOL, I don't think that it would be a good idea to make this game about the epic space battles. I think that the rail shooter was actually quite a good idea (although I do wish we had more control over which way our ships go, it is not strictly neccessary) as a way to simulate 'luke climbs into fighter, blows up death star' instead of 'space sim with ground action'. I would like to see more plot bits that must be accomplished with space combat as it stands now, and perhaps some sort of starship-based PvP conflict, but it is not neccessary or even desireable to go heavily into the space combat/starship aspect to maintain the star wars feel. Although adding 'vanity ships' as a money sink might be an incredible way to boost the space appeal. Even Vanity ships that have special bonuses might be within the realm of possibility. (a 'gunship' that has an extra npc-controlled turret, or stuff like that. But I definitely do NOT want anything even resembling Eve. PS- add a trench run, seriously
  7. I disagree. tuesday am is the perfect day/time to patch. sunday night/monday morning is still considered the 'weekend' by many.
  8. Apparently you haven't actually read the posts a lot of people disagree with the thread.
  9. I may be oversensitive because I design 3d game artwork for a living, but has anyone else noticed that, for a modern game, The shader work and normalmaps are absolutely crap? I mean, I half suspect they are using a heightmap shader instead of normalmaps. (more than half) Shader heightmaps was a technology that died because it was both GPU-intensive and looked like crap. This is enhanced by the reduced (I suspect JPG-style encoding) texture depth, and I think that they must be seriously using some horribly reduced shader maps of some sort... even the reflectance map is awful. Maybe they are just using an awful light engine. Model and texture work=top notch. environmental model and texture work= top notch. post-production scaling, shading, and/or lighting engine= bottom of the line crap that wouldn't look out of place in Quake II (Circa 1997). Is Bioware using that cruddy shader from FIFA or something? No skin translucency or multilayer skins? No coded colorchange? No built-in ambient occlusion? This is all OLD stuff that games have been doing since 2005. I dunno. at every level of the game you can see where laziness was 'resolved' by simply throwing money at the issue. I know Game companies have all jumped at the strategy of keeping employees terrified of losing their jobs, but you know what? that only makes people work barely well enough to avoid losing their jobs... entertainment companies need people that LOVE their jobs, in order to put out a product that players love.
  10. well, remember that they are a lot bigger in the MMO industry than say... NCsoft oh wait, they aren't. Is EA looking at a strike two?
  11. I just think that if people can pinpoint issues individually they'd like to see addressed, they should create a thread to that effect. individual things that are not based on opinion. 'Sawbones need a higher target aoe heal' while, perhaps an opinion rather than a fact, is a lot more likely to get attention and less likely to cause fruitless debate. The debate is more likely to be centered on whether it would unbalance the class rather than whether or not it 'sucks'.
  12. Actually, there IS an argument against cross-server LFG EVERYTHING the game does to slow your advancement increases the amount of time until you keep paying Bioware. The idiotic transit system you cannot get off of? increase travel time just to the bare limit of tolerable. waiting till level 14 to get a sprint? increases travel time. lfg calls? increase play time. I am not saying it's a good argument, but slowing down advancement or giving you 'down time' certainly makes sense financially, as long as they can balance it against the quality of life issues it causes. I, for one, am totally for a dungeon finder... I am...skeptical about it being cross-server (issues with duplicate names is a big one) but for internal server functionality, I am totally in favor. I am not holding my breath though. I know it's going to happen, but the time frame could be punishing.
  13. Actually, this entire thread is nothing but a troll attempt. Come on, 'ANALYSIS: Scoundrel is the Worst Class in the Game at Everything'? Really? Does anyone think for even a second that the devs are going to give a thread with a title like that even a moment's attention? There's nothing to analyze. Everyone in the thread has gotten trolled successfully.
  14. Because Boba Fetteis totally awesome backpack and flamethrowers. and the whole 'stabbystabby' thing is actually pretty tired. if anything it's even less cool than the whole shotgun ballshot thing. Did you know that 99% of all statistics are pulled directly out of the butt of the person saying them? If that's what your server is like, well, that's kinda weird. On Drooga's the numbers are about the same ten percent that they have been since release. certainly nothing 'dramatic' like you claim. If anything, I am actually seeing a few more as people find out how fun they are. Dude, you seem to be... occasionally logical. Are you telling me that you have never, ever seen the hordes of 'lf healer HM' tells on station? DPS classes sometimes have a hard time hearing over the sound of how replaceable they are. after getting passed over for teams dozens of times for being yet another dps (NOT a scoundrel, just a DPS) can you really blame people for speccing into a much more inviting healer spec? Most raid/hm leaders are just as happy with a sawbones if they can get one. It's called 'healer pressure', since healers are mostly boring to play, and every healer-centric game has it. Besides, your entire argument is a textbook logical fallacy, 'argument by popularity'. It is based on the assumption that the most popular choice is automatically the correct one. That is clearly false, as ten thousand people can be wrong just as easily as ten, and in popularity (unlike statistical analysis) your odds of a correct answer are just as likely at ten thousand people as they are at ten... larger sample sizes do NOT increase your statistical probability of being correct (elementary statistics)
