  1. I originally joined the game because I was growing tired of League of Legends, could never play WoW again, and GW2 wasn't coming for who knew how long. I had a friend who suggest TOR to me, so I bought the game and a month of game time (Sizable amount to spend on one game) and started a BH. I leveled the Powertech to level 40 purely from PvP, Space Combat dailies, and Class Missions, and while it was fun at the start, it became boring, repetitive, and I dreaded logging on to just do the set of dailies. 1) Talents There is no variety in talents. There was like 3 viable builds for Powertech in PvP, two of which had very little difference, and none of them using the center tree. I understand this is prevelant in all non-GW MMO's, but Bioware really could have done something different, something like in ME3, or in the new WoW expansion. 2) Combat Boring, repetitive, simple rotations. I tried Assassin (Lv47), Sentinal (38), Sorcerer(24), Marauder(50) and Powertech (40) (Most on my friends account), and all of them had a simple 4 or 5 button rotation with little variance and hardly any reactive gameplay. 3) Warzones, PvP, and Huttball (I mean Impball) Shallow, reused ideas, with classes vastly dominant in certain situations (Flag carrying Assassins, Inquisitors on Voidstar with the push)in a game that's otherwise balanced fairly well. I know they are adding more warzones, but that wont stop the constant reoccurring Huttball which is not only team reliant and potentially very frustrating, it's boring and ruined by classes with pulls (Including Powertech). I cant be arsed to write out the rest of my problems I have with the game, including a very passive crafting system, extremely repetitive, vanilla WoW-esque questing, and lack of fun, creative abillites that require more than half a braincell to use. /endrant
  2. I just picked a name I would assume would be very popular as a legacy name, and it wasn't taken (Targaryean). Are surnames limited like first names, one per server?
  3. This! I strongly believe commando/merc doesn't need any buffs, they need a counter to their roflspam, which I believe is the highest dps in PvP if their uninterrupted. It only takes 3-4 tracers and one or two other spells to kill non-tanks. I think it would be nice however if they gave them some kind of blink/location based charge with their jetpack, but if they did, they need to lose some damage in return.
  4. I agree with this, other than the fact that if the healer is guarded, your better off CCing the healer and killing their guarder most of the time. As a dps powertech, I don't have any problems soloing most healers, just gotta interrupt their spam heal and stun them once their HP gets low enough for you to blow everything and burst them.
  5. If they did this, queue times would be much longer. For me personally, once I got my interrupt as a Powertech I could play just fine with the high levels, and I've been consistently topping (1st-3rd, usually 1st) the damage charts and getting in the top 4 for the medal charts every match I've played. Leveled almost purely with pvp levels 18-30, never felt that higher levels had any real advantage other than level 45+ Marauders/Sentinels.
  6. I see no problem with it. CC works fine, diminishing returns has a lot of issues. If you've ever played against a rogue/mage/priest combo in WoW you would know what I mean. When you have multiple classes with different types of CC (In the RMP combo Rogues had blind/sap/stun, mages had stun/root/silence/poly, and priests had fear) you could be crowd controlled for ~15+ seconds at a time if you didn't use a CC breaker, and even then the rogue could preparation > blind again. Resolve limits the amount of time you can be CC'd, and while I think it needs some tweaking(Slower fade time), it does it's job. Once 3v3 matches come along, your healer will love Resolve more than their wife. Also, you should be glad this class doesn't have classes with zero cooldown CC, like Warlocks. Even with diminishing returns, you could be fearlocked for days without some kind of fear immunity.
  7. I haven't had the pleasure to use it yet, but I am 99% sure this game has an ignore function. Somebody giving you crap? /ignore or /mute or w/e it is and move on. As a decent PVP player, I make a note of their name and focus them down in fights, keeping them dead for as long as possible, just for the hell of it.
  8. By: Secret Society of Sniper Players (SSoSP) From what I've seen, all the classes except Sage/Sorc/Guardian/Jugg seem to have a fairly high skill cap. As far as steepest learning curve goes, probably snipers. There is a huge difference between a good one and a bad one.
  9. So I watched the backpedaling video, and I have some criticism 1) Stop the swearing, it's really unnecessary in educational videos. 2) No need to keep rehashing points, it doesn't take 5 minutes to show that strafing/forward running is faster than backpedaling 3) It would be nice to show people that you can cast instant cast spells while strafing. Not sure how many of these Sage has other than that rock/spaceship part thingy, but for Powertech basically all of our spells have no cast time. 4) I suggest finding a fairly flat area with pillars and such to film this videos at, kinda like the PvP arena in WoW with the two pillars. Running up and down stairs in fleet is somewhat distracting IMO. Other than that, I think the videos are good, but you have ample room to improve. EDIT: Thank you for putting in that bit about unbinding A, S, and D. Those keys are very important for keybinding your spells, and they have no function outside of being a crutch for new MMO players anyway.
  10. This. Playing a frost mage in WoW got me out of backpedaling early, and it made playing Powertech much, much easier. No melee can fight with me (Other than a lv48-49 marauder who knows how to play) in Warzones due to being able to constantly apply my slow/other spells while running at 100% movespeed. Strafing allows you to cast any spells that you would be able to while back pedaling, so there is basically never a time you should backpedal, other than if you just need a very minor positioning change.
  11. Good post, and if GW2 is anything like GW1 pvp, I might just give up TOR for it as well.
  12. Alright thanks guys, I planned on just getting the full 40 set if I couldn't somehow gear for 50s anyway.
  13. And mercs. @OP: Good idea for a series, I think LoS is too advanced for the very first episode, but it's a good thing to know anyway
  14. 1) I've been leveling 80% of the time for the last 10 levels (I'm 28) and I recently hit the cap on both my commendations. I bought a champions bag, put the rest of my WZ commendations back into merc (hit the cap), but since the bags are unique, IDK what I should spend my commendations on now. Wat do. 2) Why is huttball called impball? I've read it 3 tiems today, cant be a typo
  15. 1) Visually customizable ships, I don't want to look like everybody else 2) Open World flight, not the current controlled flight 3) With the above, some sort of PvP 4) Co-op space battles 5) Diversity in equipment, I would like to have some choice other than derp derp grade 6.
