  1. Other popular games do it just fine: a) don't let people post unless they have an active character of at least level 10 attached to their account (helps to stop pointless spam and ppl making multiple accounts) b) implement an upvote / downvote system, which allows the community to moderate the forum for themselves. easy. or yeah, just limit access. TBH F2P players should defo have access to a) technical support and b) new players sections of the forums. I found it really annoying that I couldn't post on ANY of the forums as a F2P player, and it does kinda shut down a lot of potential growth of the community. Forums just seem to be a ghost town with current sub-only access.
  2. I'm lvl 21 and haven't even finished Courscant yet :3
  3. I've got a 660 and it runs pretty much everything I want to play at 1080p / 60fps with no probs. It's certainly not a bad card. But if I was buying now, I'd probably go for a 760 as minimum. 670/680's are also going reasonably cheap atm, and they are still pretty good. You can get them stupid cheap 2nd hand.
  4. either a cheap 670 / 680, or a new 700 series card £200 minimum dual 760 is supposed to be pretty good.
  5. Give it all away, because the game will become faceroll and you will be carried to level 50/55 by your credits, rather than by actually learning how to play the game..! (Ok, keep some of it, and totally worth unlocking pretty much all legacy unlocks, but after that, if you spend it on imba gear, game will be too easy for you, and you won't actually learn any kind of "skill" because you won't be given any real challenge..!
  6. defo worth getting a 670 or 760 instead of a 660 if you're buying right now. they are far better and will last far longer, due to 256-bit memory bus = better performance at higher resolutions / higher AA settings
  7. Performance difference between PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0 with a single GPU is negligible. Only SLI it makes a noticeable difference, and even then it isn't much. GTX 660 is almost 2x more powerful than GTX 560, even if only using PCI-E 2.0.
  8. i5 2500k is one of the best gaming CPU's on the market. overclocks like a beast. I am running i5 2500k (4.4GHz) and GTX 660, that is massive overkill for a game like this. Running constant 60 fps 1080p. Pro-tip #1: Check inside your case for excess DUST. If your heatsinks are stuffed full off dust, turn off PC, clean em out, and try again. Pro-tip #2: Boot up your NVidia control panel, go to "adjust image settings with preview" then select "use my preference emphasising PERFORMANCE". Apply, then reboot PC, then load up the game. Pro-tip #3: Download a temperature monitoring program (such as HWMONITOR) and check temps for your CPU / GPU. Pro-tip #4: Turn Shadows OFF, they can be a big resource drain. GL and report back if any of the above helps or not.
  9. Just testing to see if I have forum access now. Bought the game on release, didn't sub after first month, back to check it out to see if anything has changed. Sucks that you don't get forum access unless you are a sub!!! Oh well let the forum posting begin!!1!
  10. does breathing really matter in real life? derp
  11. anyone who benefits from crafted colour crystals, hilts & offhands.
  12. I have been playing the game a similar way to you, I like to clear out ALL the quests in an area. However, I am massively out-levelling all content, haven't even done a single flashpoint (I shudder at the though of fresh max lvl's with ZERO group experience in any MMO...) The game content is INCREDIBLY easy as a result of outlevelling it so hard. All I can advise is skip an entire planet apart from your class quests there, and then maybe just maybe the next planet may be some-what of a challenge for you. :S
  13. one of my datacrons from Taris didn't register on the number counter, even though I have the entry in the codex. tbh, a tonne of stuff in the codex is bugged to hell, I wouldn't bother trying to 100% it any time soon unless you are REALLY bored. if you got all the datacrons from guides, i wouldnt worry about it. you got all the bonus stats, and thats all that really matters.
  14. get an i5, i7 is overkill for gaming. and wait for the next generation of PCI-express 3.0 graphics cards if I were you. make sure you get a motherboard that is compatible with them though. if you can't wait, pick up something like a GTX560Ti, that will run this game on max np.
  15. what's really awesome is when she sheathes the lightsaber, and it is still on.
  16. on an RP server, you go around pretending to be your character, making a story background and talking to others in the game as if you were a real jedi knight "may the force be with you" etc. Talking out of character in a public chat channel is not permitted. A regular PvE server means you do not have to be in character, and can talk about any random IRL stuff you like in public chat channels.
  17. but the cpu should be running at 3 GHz regardless of the power setting whilst gaming. the power only gets reduced when the computer is idle..
  18. Yeah, I noticed my 2 points have nothing to do with having an "auto-attack" feature xD In Dragon Age 2, you could bind a hotkey to "attack nearest" and just spam it to hell, this game isn't designed to be played like that I too have Strike set to "1" as my right-click attack. But I really wish I could replace it with Sundering Strike. However, due to the long cooldown on SS, you have to fit in 2 more abilities between each SS. The ability doesn't generate enough focus on it's own to use 2 focus based abilities some times, and you are forced to use Strike just to use up a GCD when there is NOTHING better to use. I guess I just meant that there are so many activatable abilities, it is kinda tricky to find good keybindings for all of them. I can't even begin to imagine what PvP must be like as a Jedi Knight, having to move constantly whilst spamming some difficult to reach button / button-combo. Strike seems pretty redundant 99% of the time. But so do a few other abilities xD
  19. 4 Servers = Standard All other EU servers = Light @1am on Wednesday night this photo pretty much sums up my SW:TOR experience: http://imageshack.us/f/857/loldq.jpg/
  20. if you can afford an i7 you can afford to drop £100-£200 on a more up to date gaming graphics card that will pwn the **** out of this and other games released for years to come.
  21. I really miss having an auto-attack ability. I wish they would just remove the cooldown on Sundering Strike, so it completely replaced Strike :S a) its quite difficult to keep Sundering Strike up on multiple targets b) soooo many abilities to keep track of
  22. theres a few good MMO hotkey guides on these forums. generally you bind WASD to movement, then you have easy access to F1-6, 1-6, QERTYADFGH\ZXCVB, and then you can use SHIFT + CTRL + ALT to increase this number further.
  23. GT520 is not a gaming card. nVidia gaming cards are now labelled "GTX" So no, I would not expect you to run it smoothly on anything above low settings smoothly with a GT520. And you can download a program called "Fraps" to display your FPS any time any place any where. And take screenshots / videos / logs.
