  1. ^This. 6+ hours to get 3 wins is a good day for the Republic on my server. I pretty much quit PvP for a while when I went 4 days, playing 3-4 hours an evening, with 1 win. Just logged in to run HMs with my guild. This change will bring me back to PvPing again.
  2. Like I said, Eternity Vault, maybe some of Karagga's Palace, and most of the lower to mid-level HM FPs (up to Taral V and Maelstrom at least). You can easily do the story mode versions of EV and KP, which will give you a good start on Tionese/Columni gear; the HMs are for Columni and Rakata.
  3. Yes, even with the changes BM gear is fine for getting started. Eventually you'll end up carrying 2 sets of gear, one for pvp and one for pve, but for HMs like EV and even the early parts of KP, BM gear will be fine.
  4. Yes; you should be fully outfitted with the highest level earpiece, implants and relics you can find/make/afford. They're a source of additional stats, and the relics also give you short-term boosts, handy for when you need just that little bit more to burn a boss down before he enrages.
  5. Hmm, can't d/l it because I don't read french, and for some reason the validation text image doesn't show up. Could you put a more direct link somewhere?
  6. Has anyone else encountered this -- go to defend a turret in Civil War when the battle is obviously lost, and not get any defense medals no matter how long you're there? I've had it happen a couple of times, but only when I'm not at the turret from the beginning of the fight. If I'm there at the beginning, I get medals with no problem, but about 40-50% of the time, if I go hang out at the turret when the wz is obviously lost, I get no medals at all, even though I'm standing right next to it. I'm wondering if this is a bug with my character, or a general random bug other folks have experienced.
  7. I agree that the infection thing wasn't that big of a deal, as it could (usually) be avoided, but the being flagged for pvp on a pve server if someone of the other faction exploded near you was not a good thing, and shouldn't have happened. The one example of true griefing I did see on our server (pve) was when a large group of us were taking on the world boss by the pit, and one or two members of the opposite faction kept trying to taunt him away to cause him to reset. They weren't flagged for pvp, so we couldn't prevent them from doing it, and what should have been a straight-forward boss fight became a tug-of-war that we didn't always win. We eventually got the boss down, but this did fit my definition of griefing. Same thing happened to the banta boss, but that was in the open pvp area, so we could at least fight back. Though why BW thought putting an event boss in an open pvp area on a pve server was a good idea, I'll never understand.
  8. Armormech and Armsmech can make orange gear and weapons that are unique, and prized by collectors or anyone wanting to look different from the rest of the players. Cybertech gives you mods you can use (armor and mod), droid gear, and earpieces that can be used by yourself or your alts. Plus, you can make cybergrenades, which are very handy if you pvp. Best thing is to have all three, one on each alt.
  9. They were added in 1.2 -- with the right Legacy level, you can get them for your own ship. There are public use ones at the fleet, on either the Gav Dragon and Telos (or both), I think on the bridge deck.
  10. Yea, known bug since 1.2, and unfortunately last nights patch didn't fix it (unless the fix was under the covers).
  11. And the boosts to our damage in 4 of our attacks is going to make us even better, regardless of tree (though SS will probably benefit the most).
  12. Good news, indeed -- alas, no fix for the Hunker Down bug yet, though...
  13. DF; Hemo Blast is the highest skill on the tree.
  14. Dodge works, but only against ranged/melee attacks -- it's useless against force attacks, which are unfortunately the vast majority of what we face in pvp. The Hunker Down thing is a known, reported bug that's we've had since 1.2.
  15. Alas, no, there's no player speeder in the game that looks exactly like the Taxi speeders. You can see what all the speeders look like in the game at Torhead to help make your decision: http://www.torhead.com/items/catg/7
  16. Also, many class and planet story quests give mods as rewards, especially the bonus series after you finish all the regular quests on most planets.
  17. Yea, it's an elusive bug that's been around a while.
  18. Yea, I've found that a lot of players don't know how to react when you drop an IG on yourself while they're attacking you -- it throws them off their game, giving you time to get out of a bad situation.
  19. Mobility and DoTs are really the province of the Dirty Fighting build; that said, I'm having pretty decent success with this Sab build: http://db.darthhater.com/skill_calc/smuggler/gunslinger/#::f8ef24ef3e2f2e4f2e2fe10:
  20. The times I saw it happen yesterday was when the last person joined the wz very close to (or just after) the start timer ended. They wouldn't appear in the 8th slot on the ops list.
  21. Of course they are -- he heals you with Jedi Power!
  22. This thread at the very top of the forum has a lot of information about sab and df builds for pvp, especially post-1.2: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=363174
  23. Ok, I suspected that full Rakata was involved. My guild just started doing HM EV (and may try HM KP this week or next), so the Rakata is slow in coming.
  24. Saw this in a different thread, and decided my question needed its own thread. You know, I see folks posting numbers like this, and I'm not sure how they achieve them. I'm full BM (Field Tech, except for one Field Medic piece to get some Alclarity) except for Rakata earpiece and gloves, and a champion mainhand, and at best with buffs I seem my cunning around 1600 - 1700 (it's about 14300 w/no buffs). My crit sits at 36% buffed, surge at 64% buffed. I have not replaced/moved any mods. So tell me, how do you get to 2000 cunning?
  25. I actually switched to Sab last night -- getting better numbers than SS, but still not 100% satisfied. Didn't do much pvp though, since a group of us from my guild when hunting on Tatooine for the event stuff. I'll give it a couple more days and see how it works out.
