  1. Sorry to dredge up this old fossil, but in my case its somewhat applicable. Still subscribe to ESO, but their forced-solo content drive my wife and me to resubscribe to SWTOR, since here we're not forced into solo play. So in a way, ESO drove me back to SWTOR.
  2. Ah, the joystick talk reminds me of the original Wing Commander or Tie Fighter.
  3. I'm not picky. Just want the ability to command a capital ship ... or perhaps a fleet.
  4. Yeah, my party years are long over too. Gatherings of people annoy me.
  5. The article is written in a meandering and disjointed style. Really had a hard time following it. Do modern writers of pieces like that have no training in journalism or know what an inverted pyramid is?
  6. Races that would be interesting to play: Diathim Killik Barabel Anacondan
  7. May be an age-thing, but I thought that was a pretty stupid fad.
  8. Yeah, and don't like my characters looking like Samurai Jack, along with shoulder pads longer than my character's arms.
  9. So was I, in Mosul, but apparently ... only partly, since we were in the "bad" war, and those in Afghanistan were in the "good" war. But won't go more into that.
  10. Could be worse: You could be deployed to Afghanistan as a cherry Soldier, sent out on the very first dismounted combat patrol, and become and IED magnet.
  11. Ah, it's good to be a retired military guy drawing pension and the boss in a job where I can set my own hours.
  12. Sweet! Picked a good time to re-subscribe.
  13. I want everything for free. Our American politicians have taught me that I should have everything handed to me ... so make with the free stuff.
  14. Were one available for purchase, I'd recommend an Imperial Star Destroyer.
  15. Also recently resubscribed, but with two accounts - so my wife and I are leveling alts. Will be out $30 if this was a bad time to do so.
  16. Played shortly after release, buying two copies and two subscriptions for my wife and myself. Remained subscribed for about a year, and then let it drop. Re-subscribed last month, because we needed a break from the horrid grouping mechanics of ESO.
  17. Still recall all the doom and gloom talk about this MMO dying an ugly death back when it was all P2P with no F2P model. Back then, the big killers on the horizon were GW (2 or 3 - can't recall) and D3. Yet here I am, resubscribing - but frankly its because my wife and I missed the grouping dynamics of this MMO (as compared to ESO, to which we also subscribe). And I wanted that floating palace home thingy for both of us. May not hold on to our subscriptions to this game for long, but for now we are.
  18. Not long ago, I'd have taken issue with a thread like this, but I find myself agreeing. The worlds are static, and game-play can be repetitive and stale after playing three or four characters, especially for those of us who don't engage in PVP. It's a shame that a great many of the quite valid observations in this thread were never addressed.
  19. Yes and no. It seems to hint that some coins can be kept - it isn't 'black and white.' In short, why should my wife lose all 1500 cartel coins if she dumps her subscription three days before it goes FTP, even when she's been a loyal subscriber since release? That's simply inane. My guess is she'll be able to get most of them refunded with a call to support.
  20. My wife's subscription is up in three days, and she's sitting on around 1500 cartel coins. If FTP pops next month, does she lose those coins?
  21. 1. Wife and I play cooperatively only, and we can do that FTP 2. Am retiring from the military, so money will be tight for a bit 3. We don't play war zones 4. We rarely play flash points. 5. We've already leveled up two characters apiece, so why continue the subscription?
  22. Bravo to the OP! Yeah, the rail-shooter aspect of SWTOR was a real disappointment. Heck, anyone remember playing Wing Commander: Privateer? Guess what! You still can today!
