  1. Yes that is most likely true. I hope they reconsider and take a look at the possibilities of making such a move.
  2. Yes I realize they said no a few days ago when I was presented with the post so your comment is a tab bit redundant. As for the guild ships it seems like that is now in consideration according to the source so maybe they will consider it later on down the road. I'm not sure what it is with everyone focusing so much on the weapon when it's the skill tree that actually lets you perform the skills. Like i said before there are npcs that have the skills of (insert class here) but not the traditional weapon of the class. I don't see how they would need to go back when those abilities are already in the game being used by NPC's. Either way the matter is closed for now I appreciate all the feedback.
  3. Thanks for this I'm surprised they want this to remain static.
  4. Of course there would. If you want the plasma probes, orbital strikes, combat roll, etc you'd have to pick sniper/smuggler classes. Just cause their static weapon is available to all ranged classes doesn't mean the actual class is now somehow useless.
  5. Hmm well my post has nothing to do with armor and I really appreciate the feedback but it's not what I'm even remotely posting as a suggestion. Now your idea about giving a commando a sniper rifle it's actually not a bad idea, why not give them their choice of weaponry? Whether it be pistols, riflers, cannons, or any other blaster weapon? It's all aesthetic so there wouldn't be any over powered classes running around etc.
  6. I'm unsure how they would be most played since the weapon choice doesn't actually make a player's stats any better or worse. In all tense and purposes it would simply be an aesthetic change. While yes this would definitely change the weapon choices of 99.9% of melee players I have no doubts it's because they are bored with their current static weapon regardless of the class they play. I can't say I'd personally re roll a warrior If I have the option to use a single blade vs a double bladed on my assassin or sorcerer.
  7. I think you are going a little too far with your assessment. The diversity in games comes from the freedom the player has in his choice of character design, species choice, class, and skill set. Why not allowed the player to further diversify by choosing his or her weapon of choice? You say to go assassin/shadow if I want a saber staff but at the same time what If I prefer the skill set of my juggernaut/guardian?In addition your example of a "Twilek jedi juggernaut in light armor shooting people with a sniper rifle" is a terrible and exaggerated example and doesn't really provide any actual argument on why it isn't a good idea to let melee classes choose their melee weapon type.
  8. Hello SWTOR Community & Developers, I've had this idea in my head since launch time but I've never fully addressed it except by talking with friends about it. I feel ultimately that suggestions that are posted on forums are usually ignored which is why I don't post often. However after a bit of coaxing I finally decided to bring this suggestion to light. To be blunt I think the melee classes are good but at the same time It can and does get dry. Which is why I feel like allowing melee classes the freedom to choose their weapon would shake things up a bit. While I am an advocate of adding new content to keep the game interesting I feel the same thing applies to what has already been created. I often asked how could this be implemented but I see a lot more NPC doing what I wish the players could do. Example: NPC Guardian tanks using Soresu form but with a double bladed light saber. The animations of the NPC's move set was impressive. It did things like the guardian slash, pummel strike, etc and it was pulled off pretty nicely. I think giving players this option would be a fantastic change of pace for those that may or may not be getting burnt out of their characters. In essence the current weapon restrictions in place don't actually do anything to prevent something game breaking so I personally don't see a point to have it. I love SWTOR and would like to see it taken to it's highest possible degree and small changes like these would get things started. I welcome any arguments, comments, concerns although I can't really imagine any viable reasons why no one would want this option. It would be really great to hear from staff on this as well, but like i said before I don't hold up too much hope for that as I haven't seen many if any communities directly interacting with Developers.
  9. Breathing some life into this thread as I would really like to see it happen. Personally I think this should actually be a 2 part operation (8 to 16 man) and not a simple flash point. The setting is simple enough and doesn't really need to be over thought: Imperial Side - Lost contact with the sith academy on Odacer-Faustin investigate. Republic Side - Investigate the disappearance of Jedi Knight Rojo Trace/ possibility of a Sith Bio weapon. My only worry is about it's execution. They would really need to bring up percentage of gore, and the models must be new (not the generic infected stuff they use for the rakghoul stories). These things need to look grotesque, intimidating, and down right scary. In addition they will have to be creative with the mechanics in which enemies can be killed. I will give Star Wars Galaxies dev team all the credit in the world for putting the theme park in but the game engine just didn't do it justice. With The Old Republic there is an opportunity here to make something truly great. Now I realize there are few who really don't feel it should be a part of the game either because they didn't like the book, because rakghouls exist, or they just plain don't like zombies. In my opinion those aren't substantial arguments to dismiss the possibility of what could be an awesome operation.
  10. With all due respect to every player here. It's Threads like this that start the wheels of destruction on good MMOs. Star Wars Galaxies was the biggest victim to date. The process went like this: Small group of people whined about things being op Devs reviewing it decide to scale things a bit Everyone complains that everything is underpowered Devs come out with a combat upgrade Everyone complains some more Devs do a total revamp of the game Everyone has a digital pile of #$% on their hard drive Mass un subs Please...please please. Do not ruin this game with cry baby threads like this. Devs take things like this VERY seriously. You have been playing the game for 3 days, please take the time to learn your character IN & OUT before you start something that will ruin the game for you and everyone else in the end. /rantoff
  11. I am most likely going to continue doing a Shadow. I was about lvl 20 when the beta ended for me. The story was getting really good.
