  1. I think this describes this thread quite well- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Prp615mmDk&feature=related
  2. I personally blame people like Exphryl. He takes a video "compilation" of all his best burst situations over the course of a few days, edits them into a 7 minute clip, and every drooling retard on this forum goes into epileptic seizures over the "constant reality" of vanguard/powertech burst damage. Maybe I finally have a reason to log in again. I can FRAPS a warzone where all that "insane burst dmg" happens maybe 2 times in a whole civil war and the rest of the time I'm getting 1.8k dmg HiBs.
  3. Thanks for reinforcing my beliefs that no matter how much time, effort, or thought I put into a post, the general level of stupidity on these forums makes the whole thing as useful as pounding one's head against their computer desk. I'd waste less time and contribute just as much to these special needs marathons if i just posted sounds, so without further ado- aaargg blah bing zippitdy diannnggg whizzz woooppp
  4. Jesus, a bunch of einsteins in this community. Ok, if the moons and stars align, every attack is a critical hit, and the powertech/vanguard uses every single offensive cooldown as a biochem user, they do 20k single target damage in what? Seven or eight clicks? Yeah, because every powertech and/or vanguard has that critical rate cube that brings them to 100% rating, and as a side effect is immune to damage and stuns during this duration. Let's apply this genius stars and moons aligning crap to another class I'm familiar with, the Focus Guardian. 2k saber throw to start the fight 1k damage on force leap to close gap Force Exhaustion, which slows the target from 60% movement speed to 10%, POSSIBLY ticking for 1k a tick over six seconds, with the last tick doing 2k. Force Sweep for an AoE 5-6k damage. 4k blade storm. 5k dispatch. Look at that, over 20k damage in seven GCDs, Guardian OP. Nerf nerf nerf. Now let's apply this genius logic to yet another class, because all you balance professionals probably still don't get the picture. Remember, we're whining about every single thing being a stars and moons aligned critical hit here. 4k Shoot First 1k Flachette round DoTs 5k back blast 2k pistol whip 2k sucker punch (proc) 2k sucker punch (proc) sabo charge 2k sucker punch + 3k sabo detonation Nerf NERF NERF SCOUNDRELS!! Scoundrel OP! Bottom line, we could play this all day long. Is a class OP when it uses every single offensive cooldown, is blessed by the RNG gods, and ignored? Of course it is, everyone is alloted 15 seconds of OP time every 3 minutes assuming the enemy team is stupid enough to let them free cast. Of course some following 20 pages of braindead nonsense will persist with your average joe schmoe popping in to voice his "I agree, got killed by one, OP" comments. If this were my forum, I'd be nerfing stupid people's posting rights.
  5. Those slave drivers over in the GW2 forums seem to be pulling it off. So are those Nazi supervisors over in the D3 forums.
  6. 25 people on my entire server now Rep side. Is it sad that I'm about to go fire up Diablo 2 to enjoy some GAMING until I go to work because I can't get that from SWTOR right now on my dead server?
  7. I love the people in this thread who insist that we're "demanding children" because we'd like cross server ques, server merges, or character transfers. God forbid I pay 60$ and then 15$ a month to be able to enjoy the base premise of the game and complain when it's not there because my server is dead. I really love the people who say "bugs and crap happens, get over it". Sure, if it was a buy to play game, I'd dig this attitude. If it was Free to play with an in game cash shop, I'd dig it. But we're talking about a game that required as much money upfront as a full release game, PLUS a subscription fee. I'm sure people have a right to be a little ticked if the game doesn't even offer the minimal experience required to be considered a Massively Multiplayer Online RPG, instead of just an Online RPG. Lastly, I love the folks who were lucky enough to roll on a standard, high, or full pop server telling those of us on a ghost town to buck up, reroll, or shut up. When you have 4 toons above level 40, two of which are Battlemaster rated and geared 50s, and a legacy level at 27, the last thing on earth you want to do is go through the same freaking grind for the fifth time to experience what you should have considering the money you spent in the first place.
  8. I really wish we could get the same level of feedback for actual issues that the community is concerned about that we do for "closed thread" notifications, not that those seem like some sort of outsourced copy and paste job anyway. I'm just continually astonished, on a personal level, by how little the developers actually care to respond. There's a "weekly" post about maybe 6 developer responses, 4 of which happen to be mostly irrelevant regarding the major concerns of the community, and we're supposed to feel like our 15$ a month plus 50$ to get into the subscription game is worth it on a feedback level? How many dev posts have addressed server transfers? Dying server populations? Whether transfers to populated servers will be free or cost even more $$$? Server merges? Cross server ques? If there's any input on these subjects, it's vague to the point of being worthy of political, and lacks any sort of "dev to user relationship" vibe. It's almost like there's a rolodex of excuses and answers issued to anyone from Bioware that posts on this forum. D3 forums are a pretty good clear-cut counter to what's the "accepted norm" here on the SWTOR forums. Devs respond, moderators guide discussions instead of mindlessly closing them. How long will it be before this thread is locked? I give it five minutes.
  9. Yeah, I have 2 battlemaster 50s and two lvl 40ish alts. I'm not going to continue to pay 15$ a month for the next 3-4 months waiting for something to do with those characters. Might as well take a vacation until bioware pulls their head out of their, and use that money to buy diablo III.
  10. Ouch. Ok, both our servers suck. What if they merge our servers together? Do you guys have an abundance of noob rep players? We don't need anymore of those.
  11. You have 76? Lucky you. We have 40 total on The Deadweight (aptly named). Our 4 man stopped queing for wz as a group because we couldn't form a group fast enough to get in the only pvp match that's being alternated every 15-20 minutes. LOL
  12. whoa slow down, this half baked legacy crap is why we don't have cross server warzone ques, rated war zones, or server transfers... It's gotta be important, mmk?
  13. The same BS logic used to justify everything else in this game that's jacked up by all the "glass is 10% full" guys on this forum. This game will be great in a year when they either iron out the details, or make it free to play.
  14. I've heard of you before, or at least your guild. I'm in Balance on the deadweight, a few of my guildies want to reroll on whatever server you guys are on so that we're not the best game in town on repub side. God it would be nice to have another repub guild that could give us competition. here's a vid of us just goofing off for fun because we can't find a challenge on our dead server. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=icIIUwfCZz8 The guy filming, Hespera, runs a balance shadow. I'm Irish, the assault vanguard.
  15. for a lot of players, it's an ORPG, not an MMORPG. Hey, we have tauntauns, a family tree, and new emotes. I guess that's supposed to keep us paying 45-60$ in subscription fees until they make the game enjoyable again, right? The Rakghoul Plague lasted a week. The Servers dying Plague has gone on for a few months. Do we get a title for surviving this one? lolz
  16. I was on one of those "dead or dying servers", aptly named The Deadweight. I've unsubbed and will be playing diablo 3 until transfers come out. Having legacy lvl 25 (or higher, can't remember), two 50 battlemaster characters, and two lvl 40ish characters, I'm not going to suffer through rerolling for the fifth time because bioware can't manage a good number of servers at launch or a way to rectify the problem expeditiously. If you rolled on a dead or dying server, you're expected to wait 3-4 months for a transfer? So bioware rakes in 45-60$ of your money while you wait around for them to finally make the game enjoyable. No thanks.
  17. Dear Bioware, I really do appreciate the interesting content in SWTOR, particularly the warzones and how pvp is structured. Unfortunately, I'm unable to actually enjoy this content due to low server population. I'm not going to continue to pay for an ORPG instead of an MMORPG. There is no firm date on server merges or transfers, no solid information on what will be free and what will be charged for, and even with a solid ETA on transfers/merges, there's no guarantee that we wont see another repeat of the 1.2 Ranked Warzones shenanigans, where it's pulled on the eve of the patch that everyone resubbed for. I do want to thank you for the play experience thus far. I made quite a few friends who I'll probably be playing Diablo III with (having four people to play with is about the extent of the republic fleet on my server anyway), and hopefully some day playing SWTOR with again. P.S. Thanks for the new emotes and the tauntaun pet. My characters will have stuff to do and a little company in the closet that they'll be living in until the game is worth paying for again. Unsubbed.
  18. Content, as I understand it (and correct me if I'm wrong, I am new to the genre) is something that has a tangible difference on the way and how a game is played. By that definition, rated warzones, cross server ques, and transfers, would not only enable me to enjoy the current content, but new content. You must have a different wishlist. Coming from a populated server I imagine? By the way, I don't want "instant grouping", I'd like some sort of grouping at all. I haven't been able to get my imaginary friends to subscribe yet.
  19. Dear Bioware, Let me start off by saying that this game is fantastic in a lot of aspects. To be honest, I'm new to mmos entirely, so this game was the draw that brought me to the genre. I've made quite a few friends, some good buddies that I have a friendship with that I would consider equal to "real life pals". The Star Wars lore was the hook that drew me in. Swinging my staff or sword three times the size of my character's body didn't appeal to me, and probably never will. However, loading up my trusty blaster rifle, powering on my lightsaber, using the force to hurl someone off a bridge, these things do. Considering this is the only mmo game in town for the "mmo experience", and Star Wars, I feel compelled to stick with this game and do what I can to make it better, so let me give you some of a more "hardcore gamers" perspective. It can be summed up in five words. I want content, not fluff. Rated Warzones are content. Legacy family trees are fluff. Cross server ques are content. New emoticons are fluff. Server transfers and/or merges are content. Founder titles and dumb pets are fluff. Speaking of that "mmo experience" mentioned earlier, I would like some of that too. The Deadweight (an aptly named server now), is home to a 50 battlemaster guardian, a 50 battlemaster Vanguard, a 44 commando, and a 39 Scoundrel. Unfortunately, if I could log on with all my alts, I could double the population of the republic fleet on a Sunday evening. I don't get ques in sub 50, unless I'm willing to wait an hour for a que pop. In 50 pvp, it's slightly better. I only have to wait 20-30 minutes during primetime. Right now, as we speak, I'm datacron hunting because I've given up on a que pop. Heroic content is a joke while leveling. 3 months ago, while leveling my Guardian, you could actually find a group for this. Now, you're lucky if there are more than 1-2 other people on each planet on any given occasion. Flashpoints are only worth discussing at the 50 level, because then you and your clan can play them together. Same thing with Operations. The sub 50 ones only see action when the poor guy dumb enough to roll a character on our server asks around in fleet chat for two hours to get a group together, if he even does. The pvp content is finally at four different warzones, but Ilum is dead. I would love to enjoy those four warzones if people were actually online. What's bioware's answer if I want to take my time invested to another server to enjoy the "mmo experience"? Roll a new toon. Well soon here, bioware can roll a new customer.
  20. They'd make perfectly good costumes if you were looking for "most idiotic outfit of the year award".
  21. Is it really that difficult? You already went the Firefly route with the smuggler, so keep the space pirate theme. The fact that you can remove armoring and set bonuses in 1.2 is only a bonus because now we can pull mods out of the current War Hero gear and put it in Battlemaster gear. Just a FYI, no one thinks of Aquaman or A tailgate football fan when they think of Han Solo... If that doesn't take the cake, the totally retarded, non-jedi look that guardians and sentinels had to swallow got even more retarded and non-jedi with their WH. These guys look almost more clowny than smugglers. Sorcerers look like short-bus peacocks. Enough said. I could really go on and on for probably the next hour about how ridiculous and undesirable the new War Hero gear looks. To be honest, I have a management suggestion. Drop your artist team and find the nerds in the back of BW headquarters eating donuts and ridiculing the new armor, and put them in charge. The likelihood is, those nerds represent 90% of your community and wont come up with goofy, dorky, crappy looking armor for the next set. Bottom line, is it really a "success" when half of your community is looking forward to pulling mods from the current armor instead of looking like some sort of modern art masterpiece?
  22. So long story short, on our server (the deadweight), we have a guy on the imp side who only pvps, and stays in sub 50 at lvl 49 by quitting before the end of a wz to avoid experience. He has a full set of lvl 46 pvp weapon mods that give expertise, and a white color crystal for 41 expertise as well. So 250ish expertise, lvl 49 at a hair under 15k HP. My question is, is this gaming the system, or working as intended? Leaving wz right before the end screen to avoid experience and facerolling lvl 11's seems like not only something that's pretty lame, but also far worse than these mysterious ops groups burning people in 2 seconds.
  23. I have a BM guardian thank you. I don't need "two lightsabers" to fight effectively (and the fact that you even made that comment gets you a VIP pass to the short bus), but having some sort of ranged proc for UH/TA is needed for dirty fighting/lethality. They are not a melee class like scrap/conceal, so they shouldn't be reliant on melee abilities. Course I don't know why I bother. 90% of this forum is populated with braindead blowhards with zero experience yet all the answers.
  24. Thanks for impressing us with your first hand experience. How's that lvl 20 shadow doing? Dirty Fighting has no way to proc UH/TA except for the same way that Scrapper/Concealment do, without the big damage buffs to that range of combat, along with having a combat system based entirely on a damage type that can be purged entirely.
