  1. BOTH games already have a TON of problems...
  2. The scary thing for BW is that all those players who received their free month due to legacy roll out, are still counted towards the subscription base. Out of the 1.3 million players remaining, how many of those do you think were above legacy level 7? Of those, how many will not be renewing? I think Q2 will be the worst to date for EA/BW
  3. When legacy was rolled out, anyone over legacy level 5 (i do believe) got a free month. Check your email/junk mail, you should have an email from ea/bw explaining it fully
  4. Ya sorry if it comes across as a tad direct. I loved this game, and was ready to shell out to play for the next 5-6 years. I thought i had found my wow replacement and i love the IP. It kills me that people, in their zealotry to defend the game, end up hurting the title i loved due to their inability to accept that something needs to be done desperately. I know it may sound corny, but its the equivalent of watching some rando beat my wife and just turn my head and say everything is fine
  5. The state of your server is worthless information. The OP simply states that HIS server is lacking, and without the ability to get off it, and onto a server like yours, he will not continue paying. All you @sshats continually saying that people like the OP are wrong, simply because you were lucky enough to get a server with more than 50 people playing, are hurting this game. Your zeal to defend whats dead is admirable, but at the end of the day, sticking your head so far up SWTORs *** so as not to be able to see whats going on around you is rediculous
  6. This would be a terrible model. 1.) server populations vary vastly, and as such it would cost person x on low pop server more money to run a FP than it would for someone on a vastly populated server. Safeguards to provide a similar experience over every server would have to be taken. 2.) the cap would have to be a realistic $$ amount like the standard $15 sub fee, at which point BW would be paying the same for maintenance / upkeep to provide the service for people while they pay much less. This would mean BW would make less money, off the same subscriber base. In the world of MMO's, excepting extenuating circumstances, the playerbase consists of two types of players. Those who play very little, or those who do nothing but play.
  7. We pay to play this game, we do NOT pay to be a developer. BW pays people to take care of this. It is not the consumers responsibility to think of ideas on how to make game mechanics more fun/rewarding. If they paid me $15 a month to play, I would have suggestions and feedback for them, until then, I expect the people they do employ to do their jobs
  8. HAHAHA it doesn't mean one less whiner, it means 1 person out of every 4 quit last quarter, and more will follow suit unless bioware will do something about the inability to play their game due to population. If you want to play solo on a "ghost server", you would probably be much happier with an RPG game that is played offline, not a sub based mmorpg
  9. When WoW loses 400k subs, that is a 2-5% loss, where as SWTOR just lost 1 out of every 4 people playing. That is a HUGE difference. I unsubbed (with 28 days still left of my free month). I think its funny that EA/BW execs claim the 400k lost subs are "casuals" and "trialers", In other MMO's, I have been in server first guilds/organizations and pushed content to the max. While I'm sure the data they have on the cancelled subs makes them appear to be casual, the reason they look that way is because the content was inaccessible (unless you happened to chose a server at launch that maintained its population) due to lack of population. I quit because i had a level 50 of every class, heroic FP gear, but couldn't find a way to run ops with the 4 people online each night.
  10. I would personally love it if there were even half that online during peak hours on my server. I would gladly deal with the hassle of clicking around a griefer if it meant people to actually group with for FPs
  11. you must play on a server with good activity, where there are actually 100 people queueing... The other 75% of the servers that have 40 people on fleet at peak times are usually waiting 30 minutes to an hour for 1 WZ, so YES a cross server option will reduce queue times DRAMATICALLY. Quit being rude to people because you are ignorant of their plight.
  12. apart from what people believe, people from the asian/oceanic markets were already playing before the mar 1 launch... they simply played on NA/EU servers. If anything, the launch will pull players from the previously existing servers and push it onto the 3 servers launched for use in that region
  13. uh you may want to remove the email addresses from those you surveyed, i'm sure they wouldn't appreciate getting a ton of spam mail from the trolls across these forums
  14. You are greatly mistaken if you think BW sold the box copies to the retailers for $60/piece, and ever more mistaken if you think Retailers sold the game at less than a 30% profit over cost. (also they reported 2 mil box purchases earlier, not 1.7m. The 1.7m was people still subscribed) If I were to guess, I would estimate that the original shipment (due to high quantities of pre-orders) were sold to Retailers for ~$40/unit (this is purely speculation) before anyone asks why pre-orders would affect unit cost: More pre-orders = larger initial shipment larger purchase = more discount due to bulk As to the actual profitability of the game, we really have no information to go on. Even their listed subscriber amount has no indication as to the quantity of people on their free month. (you can guestimate based on sales in the last 4 weeks) At the end of the day, everything is pure speculation. Included ^ due to the pure distilled truth contained within. We see reports that on the surface conflict (game is steady Month over month / my server has less people), but as noted above, the two can exist simultaneously. Also of note, if your server is slowly dieing it is likely due to people re-rolling on other, more populated servers.
  15. I don't know, I felt Anakin's sudden flip was extreme. Those who are able to be flipped are that way due to the character flaw already existing. Anakin went from "don't kill him its not the Jedi way" to murdering all the younglings
  16. They haven't quite added same sex romances yet
  17. If you want to watch video game pr0n you can find it online without paying a subscription. The way it has been handled by BW is classy, as are the bulk of the romance options. (i.e. no ****, or any other sex perversion)
  18. Link to source? You can't toss numbers out there without proof. I highly doubt this game has 2 million active subscribers. @ OP: You don't need to worry about the game you love disappearing. ToR will be around for some time to come. Even if it is made F2P, the company did not spend massive amounts of money developing this game to just nix it after a short time. BW will throw everything they can at this game, because its potential is through the roof.
  19. Exactly.... Every one of these threads which generally devolve into argument, was created by someone who thinks their unwritten loot rule is right, while those who don't share that loot rule are wrong... You will never see someone who feels companions = PCs start a thread to complain about losing loot to a companion
  20. Wrong.... You assuming that your way of looting is right is what causes the drama, not the fact that others roll need for their companions. You could be in a group with 3 people that firmly believe that their companions = group PCs and even as the minority, cause loot drama when you start to complain that YOUR loot rules are more accurate than the loot rules of the other 3 party members. Causing drama isn't exclusive to those who roll need for companions, but is more exclusive to those who whine and threaten people because they think its wrong to.
  21. I play my character with my companion out for more time than you play your toon at all, does this mean my companion should get the gear over you because of time in use?
  22. LOL anyone that wants a magenta crystal has one already, they are already purchasable by a vendor (GTN). All they are doing is taking away a gold mine from the people that farm these crystals and sell them.
  23. What a terrible analogy......... TOR lacking a ton of the features of other MMOs has nothing in common with Microsoft issuing service packs for their current software.... A more apt comparison, would be a company releasing a new operating system that lacks the industry standard features... Advanced/Home Networking Desktop Resolution settings Plug n Play support visual folder browsing ETC... Such an operating system would be laughed off the market before they could even get a chance to patch that stuff in. Due to the fact that the game is based on Starwars, Bioware will get a pass on their product lacking some basic features (short term) but this needs to be fixed quick.
  24. THIS IS NOT COMMON! No other MMO has ever taken down their servers to apply one fix to such a trivial issue. When they take their servers down, they apply a multitude of fixes all at once. I'm reasonably sure that if the patch notes included more than, Killing players on Ilum will now consistently grant Valor and mission credit as intended. Less people would have a problem with it. We all want the game to improve, we do after all have a vested interest. But please BW, save the emergency patch until you have more than just one item to implement.
  25. Yes the mentioned titles above had to patch a lot during their first months, however, they DID NOT take down servers to issue a single fix... When they brought the servers down, their dev team had 8+ (anecdotal, but it was a helluva lot more than 1 fix) fixes to apply.. I don't mind patches / downtime, but i have a hard time swallowing such a large impact for such a little reward. (by little, i do not mean the effort put in to code/apply this fix, I mean little by only having 1 item to implement) As stated by myself and various others, a stupid valor issue in Ilum (which is not gamebreaking) is hardly a reason to impact a large amount of paying customers. This one fix simply could have waited until a.) they added 5-6 more fixes, then emergency patch, or b.) tuesday
