  1. Someone on another thread mentioned moving Heat Blast down into the middle of the ST tree where it probably should be and replacing it as the top tier talent with a talent that would cause Flame Sweep to ignite Oil Slick if cast back to back causing a wicked cool AoE dot. That'd be pretty cool.
  2. I'm surprised it took this long. Juggs suck so it was only a matter of time before someone decided to break out that cliche phrase "While I hate to call for a nerf....".
  3. Ahh, there it is. I figured it would happen sooner or later. Lets not buff the class that everyone is complaining about, instead, lets nerf the class that people love playing. That way everyone is equally miserable. Great suggestion. Epic fail. Oh, and you suck.
  4. It's charge with a flame trail that ends in a superman punch.... The end.
  5. Sweet, I get to be first.... /sarcasm on Your wealth of tanking experience means nothing. This isn't Rift, WoW, EQ or anything else. This is TOR. Juggs weren't meant to tank multiple mobs. You suck. Your healers suck. Your dps suck. Juggs are awesome. If your Jugg puts out half the dps your PT does, clearly it's your fault. You suck (again). Juggs are awesome at holding single target threat. If you can't do it, you suck (again). You are clearly an idiot. /sarcasm off Thank you for your cooperation. Just figured I'd get that out of the way since your well written and thoughtful post clearly deserves much flaming. Standby for more flames. In all seriousness, perhaps now we can avoid all of the impending posts with one or more of the above as the main subject of their posts. I have hope. Not expectation. Just hope.
  6. You got my vote. This would be bad*****. Make oilslick a prereq and have it maintain the accuracy penalty that oil slick has. While we're dreaming, maybe a 1 second stun too. Being enveloped in a giant pillar of flame would tend get your attention and then throw you off balance for a few seconds. It would be mit and AoE all in one. Awesome graphic would be mandatory, like a huge pillar of flame for .5 second that then dies down to just waist high flames for the remainder of the dot.
  7. You sir, are an idiot. Your experience means absolutely jack? Really? That's such a idiotic statement I don't even know where to start and I'm sure I wouldn't get anywhere by trying so I'll just leave it at that.
  8. lol The genes are strong with this one...
  9. You're right. That might have been dumb. Didn't mean to give relationship advise in a thread about Rocket Punch . But, consider this (sorry, here I go again). I've been married for 18 years. Lets say I game 300 days per year, and lets just say 2 hours per day (probably most of us game more than that). 18 x 300 x 2 = 10,800 hours. Do you honestly think my wife would put up with me ignoring her for 10,800 hours? For those whose wives get upset at them for gaming, are you looking forward to her yelling at you for 10,800 hours? Or are you ready to give up one of your (clearly) favorite hobbies for someone who's favorite hobby might be ... shoe shopping? 10,800 hours of shoe shopping? Good luck to ya. There are 3 billion members of the opposite sex out there. Odds are you can find someone that's shares your interest. I did... Sorry, I'll shut up now, but I couldn't put this to bed without ya'll understanding my point of view and why I would make such an intuitively unpopular statement.
  10. Not at all cinematic. This is actually my normal rotation in this situation. As far as "CC" goes, perhaps that was the wrong term to use but what I mean is that I'm taking a mob out of action while performing my normal tanking duties. If you followed my rotation, I throw an ED at the first normal mob, he's stunned and in a few seconds will be history, hence, he's doing no damage. I use unload on the 2nd mob because, 1. it's the only ranged ability I have available at that particular moment that is capable of killing the mob in 3 seconds or less and 2. While it's killing him, he's stunned and can't damage me or anyone else. Most of the time, a single use of unload does the job. For those times that it doesn't, I follow up with Rail Shot as it's now available because my cylinder is almost always procc'd by Unload. Hence, I aggroed and tanked 1 mob and killed two others in less than 5 seconds. I think that's pretty cool, but Unload is a necessary part of that rotation and thus, far from useless.
  11. I make it a goal to get the kill shot with Rocket Punch whenever I can. The kid competes by trying to get the kill shot with that cool kick that Assassins get. It's good times. And yeah, the family is pretty awesome. Wife and I have been playing MMOs together forever (as I said, since the days of MUDs) and getting the kid involved was pretty much a no brainer. I'm just happy he's finally old enough that I have a built in group. We have a lot more fun as a family running FPs every night than we would watching TV and because we're all right there in a same room, we work really well together. The three of us can usually run FPs when we're still a couple levels below mob level. My advice to the singles out there. If it's impossible to get your girl to play MMOs with you, or if she tries it but thinks it's stupid, move on. It's a lot of fun playing with your sweetie and you'll probably end up spending more hours playing MMOs for the rest of your life than doing just about anything else. Playing MMOs makes up the majority of our at home entertainment, I couldn't imagine someone yelling at me because I play too much. What else are we gonna do, watch TV? Blech. The only downside is when she gets mad at me for something dumb I did IRL. Those are usually bad nights for me because she forgets to heal alot.
  12. Yes. I'm sure that's it. If the jugg class, sucks, it's the healer's fault and you're stupid! Either that or, by some astonishing coincidence, there isn't a single jugg tank on your server that has a clue what they are doing. You jugg fan boys just mystify me. Your class is broken (compared to the other options available). There is at least half a dozen threads per day on this very forum that verify this, yet you consistently proclaim that the class is not broken, it's just that you are the only one awesome enough to play it well. Rubbish. First, I think Juggs need more utility/ranged type skills. Since there is so much ranged damage in this game, they need more ranged skills to effectively compete. Why are there no force skills where you grab nearby trees and rocks and chunks of concrete or whatever and hurl them at groups of enemies (ranged AoE, like DFA for PTs)?. Force scream should have it's range increased to at least 20m. 30 would be better. Or maybe better, make FS a conal AE and implement a new 30m ranged dps ability. Finally, they need a force pull ability. Better yet, have force choke do that, maybe via talent, and choke at the same time, that'd be awesome. Or heck, come up with complete new stuff. Whatever. My point is that there is a lot of stationary mobs and ranged dps in this game. Hoofing it from one mob to another, hacking and slashing one at a time, just doesn't cut it. Second and I think this is the main reason why PTs are so much better at holding threat, rage sucks, compared to heat at least. The difference is that with heat, I can burst out some damage when I need it. Yeah, my heat will skyrocket, hopefully I can dump some heat. If not, hopefully (and normally) the emergency is over before I'm heatlocked. Post emergency, I just have to rapid shot / heat dump my way back down to normal heat levels. I don't do much damage just rapid shotting away, but at least I had the damage when I needed it. In this fashion, I'm actually borrowing future damage to use during emergencies when I really needed it. It's a really cool, intuitive concept that works extremely well. Spending rage results in a cruel compromise. I can either hack and slash my way up to max rage, and then use very little of it, keeping myself topped off just in case an emergency occurs and I need it or I can use it as soon as I get it, and risk finding myself out of rage when I need it. In the first instance, I'm doing less damage than I could be, having trouble holding aggro and I'm ending battles at high levels of rage that could have been converted into damage. Or, like a good tank, I saved it in case I needed it, and now it's just bleeding away post battle as lost dps / threat. In the second instance, the use it as you get it strat, my dps numbers are nice and high and it's easier to hold aggro but I don't have any saved up rage for when the crappola hits the fan and my group wipes because I can't whip out some burst damage to pull our butts out of the fire. It's a silly compromise that no tank should have to make. Threat now and keep the battle field orderly or threat later, when I might really need it? A PT doesn't have to make this choice, Juggs shouldn't have to either.
  13. I guess everyone forgot about the fact that it stuns normal mobs for the duration of the cast. I use it all the time when I'm grouped with just one other person. Lets say it's a 4 pack. 1 gold or silver and 3 normals and either DFA is on cooldown or they're too spread out to use it. I RC the gold, throw an ED at one normal. Color him CC'd and dead. Target another normal, use unload on him. Color him CC'd and dead. Grapple the third normal in and flamethrower him and the gold. Color that 3rd normal dead. Normall the gold is still glued to me. If not, that's why god invented taunt. Note, that so far, I haven't thrown a single rocket punch or rail shot, and yet somehow, I've CC'd and killed three mobs and likely still have the gold on me. Like the other dude said. Unload is situational. It's an excellent skill that shouldn't be ignored. Also, mine seems to do far more damage than Rapid Shot, although admittedly, I haven't looked very closely. Oh, and I almost forgot, you can almost always count on it to proc your cylinder. That's even more damage and allows you to use Rail Shot on that ranged that isn't quite dead yet.
  14. Just submitting my vote. I don't get sick or anything, but I don't care for the new GCD display. I've spent all day trying to get used to it but plain and simple, it makes it more difficult for me to tell the difference between abilities that are on GCD from abilities that are on a timer CD. I used to be able to glance at my hotbar and quickly tell which ability I should be using next and hit it right as the GCD came down. Now I have to stare at the damn thing until the GCD comes down so I know for sure which ability to use. Another popular MMO used different symbols that would pop over the characters head when a specific ability came available. Ret Paladins from WOW will know what I'm talking about. I'd love to see something like that implemented.
  15. PT is primarily a melee tank, with a twist (see below). The attacks that keep you in melee range are primarily Rocket Punch and Flame Burst. They make up a sizeable percentage of your damage, especially with RP proc'ing your cylinder and the multiple talents that make Flame Burst worth it. Also, Flame Sweep, god's gift to PT AoE tanking is pretty much melee range, zero cooldown but generates a lot of heat so you have to be cautious about spamming it. I've held aggro on 5+ mobs by alternating Flame Sweep and Rapid Shot. Grapple / taunt anything that happens to get away. Just ask your dps to work their way up the chart from red to gold. That way by the time all the reds and silvers are dead, you only have a gold or two to deal with and by that time, if you've been doing your job, they are locked pretty solid on you. Despite all the theorycrafters on here that say PTs can't ranged tank, you *can* range tank. I do it all the time. For example, gold gun turrets in Cade (and other FPs, Cade just comes to mind cuz I ran it last night). They are stationary, non-cc'able and too far away from each other for most AoE. The strat for keeping them both is not complicated. Aggro one, Rocket Punch and Flame Burst it. Unload and Rail Shot the other. Taunt as needed. So long as you don't have dps hitting both, you can easily hold aggro on both.
  16. So I started playing as a Jugg. After several very frustration days, I got him to 20th. I started surfing the forums looking for alternatives and discovered the PT. Since then, I've been bouncing back and forth from Jugg to PT, just for comparison's sake. So last night, I'm running Boarding Party with the wife and kid. We attack some random trash mobs. I instantly draw aggro on the gold and silver with RC, FS, RP, RS, send the kid who plays an Assassin off to deal with a couple reds that were present when we attacked. All of a sudden three more reds pop out of a side room. I love the way they did that in this game, by the way. Nasty little surprises all over the place. I'd wisely saved DFA and ED, So I targetted them with DFA, followed up with ED on the middle one. Switched back to the gold, RP, RS and a pewpew followed by a taunt on the Silver for just in caseys. Wife/healer never broke a sweat and never had to pop her Sonic Scream CD (that's an IRL ability where she starts yelling at me cuz there's mobs on her). Kid never even realized the 3 reds had popped out. He rarely looks around anyhow but it didn't matter cuz they were growing cold on the ground by the time he finished with his two. It's times like these that I love my PT. They are, hands down, the funnest tanks I've ever played. And that's coming from a guy that was playing EQ the day it released (and MUDs before that!). Most tanks are all, hack, followed by a slash, repeat with another hack, and maybe some more slash. There's just no comparison with the fun factor that comes with PT play. Oh, and my Jugg? He would have had a tough time keeping aggro on the gold, let alone the silver and I would have just had to have the wife take care of the 3 pop-out reds. Her Heal spec Sorc does more damage than he does anyhow... Bioware, I love my PT. You hit it out of the ball park with this one. Please don't change him one bit. I love him exactly as he is. But please, please fix Juggs. Sometimes I like to go all whow-whow with the pretty glow stick and sexy Jaessa is hotter and cooler than Mako, but man are they frustrating to play...
  17. She gets upset when I kill people sometimes. The other day, on my ship, she got all upset and we had to have a way-too-long conversation about the differences between a bounty hunter and an assassin. She's moderately cute but her goody-two-shoesness and naggyness about my randomly slaughtering innocent passers by is getting on my nerves and seriously cramping my style. I'm a little confused as to how I, a trigger happy, ruthless man hunter, who cares little for the "preciousness of life" got saddled with this goody two shoes, bleeding heart female. I've been trying to find a limp wristed Sith Warrior who will trade me her for Jaessa, but no luck so far. Now Jaessa, that's what I'm talkin bout, a hottie that's fully capable of killing me in cold blood. Grrrrroooowwwlllll..
  18. I agree with this. Since PTs measure damage in terms of DPH (damage per heat) instead of DPS, anything that dumps heat will result in more damage on a properly played PT. A talent that dumps heat while simultaneously doing damage is great. I've seen a few messages where people say something like, "I don't need to dump heat, I'm usually at the bottom end of the heat meter anyhow". If you find yourself consistently at the bottom end of the heat meter, you are doing something wrong. You should always be at 30 - 50% heat. If not, you aren't doing as much damage as you could be.
  19. Confirmed. InstaDied 3 times at the bottom of the elevator. Came here. Read stuff. Turned on autorun. Clicked elevator button. Lived. Did happy dance. Killed Jedi. More happy dance.
  20. Also, by the fact that we're considering grappling the mob, either taunt is on cooldown or the mob is planted and doing ranged dps. Either way, the whole idea of grappling this particular mob is to get him closer to both yourself and the pack. This makes it easier to switch targets and melee, position him for flamethrower, flame sweep, etc. It also makes it easier to tell when he switches off of you and starts mauling your healer. If I wanted to spend all my time running back and forth chasing mobs around, I'd just play a Jugg.
  21. I definitely think the minimum range needs to be lowered. From a PVE perspective (I tank a lot of FPs) the minimum range is frustratingly just outside the typical mob spacing. I find myself more often than not having to back up a couple paces to grapple a mob in. Plus, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have such a long minimum range. Like, really? I can hook a cable to you and pull you to me from 10 to 30 meters, but not at 5, or 8? In any case, the end result is that a PT tank needs to spend precious seconds backing up trying to find the minimum range. I've gotten to where if it's close, I just don't try it because I don't want to waste time targetting the mob I want to grapple and looking at the icon just to find I'm inside the minimum range and then I have to decide whether to back up or just switch back to my original target and forget it. I love this ability, think it's one of the best and coolest things they have done for the bounty hunter class and just want it to be made a little less frustrating, especially in hectic multi mob group/flashpoint situations.
  22. I'm underlevel for this FP, have run it 3 times now. The first time through I crashed like crazy, in similar spots to you guys (1st elevator, fighting 1st boss, stealing the police car, etc). Also, I had Mako, the BH companion out and I noticed that especially after elevator rides she would disappear and not reappear. More disturbingly, I couldn't dismiss and resummon her. When I mouse over her icon, I get a message that reads "invalid character". The only fix is to exit and re-enter the FP. Also, I get a lot of graphics lag in here that I haven't noticed in other FPs, or anywhere else in the game for that matter. I have since turned my graphics all the way down and I dismiss Mako when going up/down ramps, elevators, basically I put her away unless we're moving directly from one fight to another. This has fixed the graphics lag, the crashy crashy and the companion dissapearing act, but we still get lots of evades and warping mobs in this FP. It definitely needs an overhaul. On a related note (overhaul) this FP, especially the bosses, need to be tweaked. Badly. It's way, way to easy. Here's my group: Me: 26th BH PT ST spec Wife: 25th Sith Inq Sorc Healer spec Son: 27th Sith Inq Assas dps spec ... We're underlevel, 3 man, and we can crush this place. No probs at all, save the normal occasional stupid (and totally preventable) mistakes. We're getting gear that requires 29th level 4 and 5 levels before we can wear it. As a comparison, we tried running Mandalorian Raiders just 1 level below mob level and got our asses handed to us. P.S. MR is perfect, please don't change a thing, love it. Basically, I see the problem as the bosses in Cade are way to easy. They are all tank and spank with very minor twists. The last boss is one of the easiest fights I've seen in any FP so far. Like, we figured out pretty quickly, oh, don't stand under the gigantic rockets that blast out huge flames.... really? that's it? Other than that you just kill the dude? That's so ... WoWish (yeah, I said it). Finally, please don't misunderstand my post. I really like Cade. I think it's a super cool FP. I love how you kill the oppressors and the oppressed peeps start clapping and stuff. One of the coolest things I've seen in any dungeon ever. I love the city scene, the night club is awesome when the bad guys break in and people are running and screaming, super cool, I adore that you get to steal a cop car (with scavenging, or maybe it's slicing, don't remember, I have both). I think on balance the trash is all pretty appropriate, they pop out in unsuspecting places to surprise you and cool stuff like that, I just think the bosses are waaaay to easy and the bugs are out of control. Otherwise, great job!
