  1. If you guys think Sages are bad in PvP, try playing a gunslinger My sage has been dominant since I got the bubble and conveyance. I leveled up as a seer though. I tried the hybrid dps spec at 50, and i just die way more quickly. If you want to feel like you own warzones, go with the seer tree and balance tree. Abuse the mobility you have. Sages have the best instant ranged damage (project, FiB, TK Throw, weaken mind, PoM), and the best instant heal (bubble and rejuv). You also have force speed to move you in to position. If you are going to stand like a turret and heal or dps, you declaring to the world that you are an injured baby deer. Our instants don't even look like we are attacking! Project doesn't hit until 1-2 sec anyway so you're 40m away by the time someone figures out he's been hit. I can't even see FiB on the ground half the time. TK Throw is so bugged, the stream of pebbles are going the opposite direction from the target 50% of the time. Can't even see weaken mind, and I bet people don't even know sages hit them with it. A PoM Mind crush has no tracer signature either! Same thing with heals, we don't have a green beam coming from our hands like commandos. No matter what class you are, have 2-3 people on you usually means death. So with all that mobility, I'd say Sages are really good in PvP, but you have to learn to play them differently than other classes. Sages makes the team so much more powerful because you are always making on the fly decisions.
  2. Every time I read these Sage/Sorc are OP threads, I am wow'd by the misinformation spread by bad players. I bet none of them actually looked at our talent trees. I've been playing a 50 Sage for a few weeks now with different builds and yes I do dominate in WZ, but I never dominate more than my friends (shadow tank and guardian tank). If played right, any class (except gunslingers) can dominate. 1) Sages CANNOT have survivability (heals) and all the CC's (from 2 dps trees) but I suspect people think we do. 2) Resolve bar prevents our cc's from being that effective. Also, don't cc break the first CC (duh). We don't have enough dps to kill someone in one stun anyway. Our second cc fills up resolve right away. What's the point in having 4 cc's if we can only use 2? Pretty much every single class is a bad match up for me except for my fellow sages and gunslingers. If melee is in my face, I am going to force lift and book it out of there or have my allies come in. For whatever reason, people are fixated on killing sages and are willing to chase in to a pack of my allies. This is probably why people QQ so much about sages because I get the same frustration for all classes that can vanish. I get more hate (whispering me in WZs) from my hybrid heal/dps spec than the DPS hybrid that everybody universally (even fellow sages) says is OP. I make a greater impact on games with heal/dps spec. Which gives me confidence that a high proportion of people on this board do not know what they are talking about. This community is being poisoned by spoiled brats with an over inflated sense of their abilities. Player skill is vastly more important than talent class or spec. You are losing, then yes you are probably bad. Face the music, and put some work in to getting better. Start by reading stickies on Resolve, Stats, PVP, hot keys etc. Learn to pt yourself in situations that minimize your weaknesses. I bet most of the QQ's only use keys 1-5 for abilities and mouse for the rest. IF YOU ARE ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE, then you know you have some work to do.
  3. Yea, I hear you on the expertise factor which gives us more benefit than other classes (healing/dmg/defense). But, the increased stats offset the expertise I would gain. Since I can get 558 Expertise already with 2 missing pvp pieces, I think pve with better stats gives more healing and dmg at that expertise level in PVP from what i've read. Right now I am running 2 PVP mystic and 3 pvp master because i'm running an offensive healing build with wrath
  4. Do you think it's better to get for PVP: 4 pieces of PVE Force-mystic for 1. Decrease CD on innervate 2. 50 extra force or 2 Pieces of PVE Force-mystic for 1. Decrease CD on innervate 2 Pieces of PVP Force-mystic for 1. Decrease Bubble Lockout I'm thinking option #2.
  5. Do you think it's better to get for PVP: 4 pieces of PVE Force-mystic for 1. Decrease CD on Healing Trance 2. 50 extra force or 2 Pieces of PVE Force-mystic for 1. Decrease CD on Healing Trance 2 Pieces of PVP Force-mystic for 1. Decrease Bubble Lockout I'm thinking option #2.
  6. Nope, I am only 44 but I imagine that it sucks for end game pve. You would probably want resplendence for raiding. You'll probably be more useful as a dps in raids with my build haha
  7. Hey Andrew_Past, I've been playing around with hybrid healing specs. First off, I think if you are going hybrid, the way to go is through the balance tree. After a whole bunch of tweaking, I'm starting to settle on this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GhrRMd0zZbZcMcRsMz.1 The reason why the balance tree rocks is its instant cast ability in a pinch. I found that instant cast spells allow you to switch back to healing right away. Also, the no CD TK Throw is amazing when talented and doesn't cost you any force (so you can use your force to heal!). When are you going to DPS? well.. i find that i only DPS when i need to bring someone down QUICK because i heal the rest of the time. So with a balance build you could go. Project (instant),FiB (instant), Tk Throw (3s channel), PoS Proc'd disturbance, (instant) Project (instant). This is so effective it shouldn't even be allowed in the game. Mobility from these spells is amazing as you can imagine because you're almost always on the run as a healer. The reason why it works is the no CD throw, because it allows you to spam something while waiting for CD on project and FiB. Also, psychic suffusion doesn't work on TK Wave. I think your healing tree is good (it's the same as mine). Healing trance + conveyance is a must if you want to be a serious healer! I used to think that I needed Resplendence, but I found that I only use noble sacrafice 25% of the time because it seems that I am always desperate to use my GCD on another heal ASAP! Oh yea, I think any build needs Will of the Jedi.. Just saying.
  8. I think the Sage's trees are very balanced. You give up in one area, you gain in another. So depending on your play style, every spec will pretty much work. The trick is more about finding the spec that works for you. I'm playing this: http://knotor.com/skills#AgEbAA4qSVJhaoKJmqOqssLL0omSmau6y9oA It's a little harder to play because of the lack of force and you have noble sacrifice to worry about, but if you are more in to the healing side like I am..give it a try. The mechanics require practice though. PoM is not necessary for my play style. I already have FiB and project as instant nukes. I can just spam TK throw in between instant nukes. There aren't enough points to upgrade tk wave, disturbance or mind crush so why get PoM for an untalented mind crush or disturbance? Honestly, TK throw is so good (you can invest a whooping 9 talents to upgrade it!) and cheap I am ok with spamming this baby all day long. 1 tick of tk throw does as much dmg as disturbance!! its crazy
  9. Hi all, Just wondering what your thoughts were for my last 2 points in this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201GGrRbd0dMZZcMcRR.1 I have force surge to give me practically unlimited healing (which I primarily do). But I don't know whether I should invest my last TWO points in Sith Efficacy, Reserves or Electric induction. Any tips from those who have been spec'd madness? Thanks
  10. Hi all, I PVP as a hybrid seer/balance sage: http://knotor.com/skills#AgEbAgwqSVJhaoKJmqOqssLL0tKJmaKpusva This build fits my play style the best. My question to the DPS hybrids out there is: if you had 2 points to put in either Inner strength, Mental Longevity or Psychic Barrier, which would you choose? BTW: I'm planning to use TK throw ALOT and I already have resplendence to give me free healing! Thanks!
  11. I guess the way I see it, I need to primarily be a healer because I'm always grouped with friends who need heals because they are reckless. Resplendence means that I will almost never run out of force for heals. The damage is a bonus to me, so if I am in danger of running low on Force, I'm just going to play as a healer which pretty much means survive (which seers seem to do a good job of) until friends come help. Burning a clothy down from 50% health with potency -> FiB -> project -> tk throw sounds pretty sexy to me but I definitely have no clue how much force that spell chain will cost me. Thanks for the insight with psychic barrier though, i'll give both a try and see works better when I'm 50. You wouldn't take Healing trance eh? I find that I might as well not get conveyance if it's for deliverance. Non-convey deliverance takes the same amount of time as rejuv + deliverance.
  12. I put my first 5 points in the TK tree for force management and it helps alot. I still need to meditate in PVP a fair bit but its very rare for me to run out of force in PVE during fights. The earlier post about efficient force abilities is important. At level 40, I respec'd and dropped inner strength because resplendence means you practically heal for free, so I decided to practice the resplendence mechanic earlier. It takes a little practice (for me...tons of practice!) to add resplendence to your repertoire. I find it adds some difficulty to healing, but you get rewarded for the difficulty. Force Armor -> Rejuv -> Healing trance -> Money back guarantee (noble sacrifice). It's difficult because if you accidentally cast noble sacrifice without a resplendence proc, you get punished. So it takes some awareness and fingertip control, but it gets better with practice! Hope that helps.
  13. Hi all, I've been reading a lot on the forums (thanks for the help!), but I haven't really found a build that really complements my play style as a healer. I see many balance/tk hybrid builds but no healing hybrids, so there must be a reason. I don't like to be one of those healers that does 250k Healing and 5k damage. I'm level 40 now, and since I have tank DPS friends i'm always with, I lvl'd up as seer with a 31/7/2: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GGrRbd0dGzZf00MZ0M.1 After learning the mechanics, I began to do more and more damage without sacrificing my healing. I find healing MUCH more challenging/fun/intense when I contribute to damage while keeping my friends up. Now, I normally do 100k dmg/ 150k healing and 25-2 without dmg talents (or resplendence for that matter until recently), so I imagined if I actually had dmg talents... what destruction I could rain down. I'm already totally dominant in WZ as it is. I'm not saying Seer is OP, but I think it's because there are a lack of healers in the game in general so I'm usually the difference maker. I'm sure my fellow healing peers would agree. I've come up with this build: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#600GGrRbd0dMZbZcrcoo.1 Yes, I know, I miss out on tk defence and PoM. I can either get TK def + PoM or Resplendence. After finally receiving resplendence at 40 (I respec'd without inner strength), I realize that I really like it since I spend so much force doing both dmg and heals. Since I usually skype WZ with at least one DPS friend, I need to be decent at healing for best synergy. I think it's resplendence or bust with healing. It's not worth the amount of points to me to get conveyance just for deliverance. Never tried Salvation, but it doesn't look like a skill I would use frequently in pvp (compared to Tk throw which I use ALL the time). All I wanted with this build was a skill I could spam that actually does dmg (tk throw). I have 2 instants (FiB + Project) to cast one after another to help finish a clothy off which is a super bonus. These are probably enough to keep me busy offensively, so PoM wouldn't be necessary for me. I've never played balance or TK, so I'm just wondering why my build wouldn't work as well? I'm guessing it's a harder build to play than most because you have to be on your toes with resplendence but we roll healers for the challenge right?
