  1. Your opinion be noted, but this discussion is in hopes that it will change. For things that won't change, please refer to the numerous threads about the inevitable sinking of the TORtanic. So some more info to clarify. All classes but JKs/SWs get full resources without needing build any before initiating. I'm fine with this, but only if the tradeoff for JKs/SWs was that our aAtks have something that makes them worth using (a slow, a DoT, etc.). As it stands, all our aAtks do is give us the resources that other classes start with for free. To top things off, our aAtks are pitifully weak. Hence, I'm not fine with "the game's design philosophy". On that note ... Yes we should! While I have no idea what Asphen means by his 2nd sentence, I wholeheartedly agree with starting out at 12 focus. Even 6 focus would be great ... or 9 because a Charge or (Spec'd) Sunder can round out the 12 focus ... SOMETHING's gotta be better than us being the only class with the unbalanced resource system.
  2. To taunt, CC, and protect your teamm8s Yes they are, BW should look into that. Rumors be that they're gettin a rework. Let's hope its drastic and breaks their hearts so that all the clothies re-roll to a new FotM that will eventually get complained about. Depends on your choice of tank. All 3 require a tank stance to guard tmm8s and without it, all we have are single and AoE taunts. Get some expertise and you'll hardly see another 4k hit. Depends on which sci-fi canon you go by so while you make sense, you also don't. NRG shields technically disrupt energy, so while your lightning argument makes sense, the missiles one doesn't. Done properly, tanks ARE hard to kill. This requires the proper support, however, which means healers to keep the tank alive and dps to kill the flies going after the healer. If you pug matches, you'll probably feel useless as a tank a lot, but you'll also get that occasional "I'm doing awesome feeling". Try going in PvP as if you were gonna FP and you'll see a difference. If you don't win the match, at least your 4man group will survive most fights.
  3. Ur description is vague, but here's some thoughts: If you're dead when the match ends and you don't "Return to Medcenter" before exiting the warzone, you're dead in PvE. Fix this by closing the scoreboard (top right corner X), rezzing urself, and then leave the WZ. I've DC'd upon joining WZ's, sometimes during WZ's (like Civil War during extreme lag), so there's not much u can do there. As far as reconnecting into a WZ, BW has no official word on it. Can only hope, GL
  4. I love it. My controversial post about PvP pointlessness gets closed minutes after being up, but this one's been up since the wee hours of this morning! Edit: (meh, timezones, but still ... close this tread already!)
  5. So ... could the devs please change VS so that it auto-loads instead of having us Space2Confirm that we accepted the Q? I mean ... we clicked the popup that loaded us into the WZ, how much more confirmation do you need that we WANT to push play? Not like you give us an option to stop loading the WZ once we've accepted the Q .... HellooooOOOooo
  6. get 2-3 or more sorc's together with hybrid healing/madness spec, and come back to this thread after you've pwned some of WZ's
  7. v67 + v61 ... all that time and u couldn't roll a SW to 50 to learn how to counter SW abilities ... gghf QQing
  8. I just have to bump this because I posted when this was on page 17 (or 37 ...) and it's still going! Definitely cool to see a 50/50 perspective on this. OP should consider a poll to see just how many folks keybind versus pure-click.
  9. Dear Devs, Get rid of the Starting Defense Speeder tour, or make it not take 30+ seconds to land in the Round 1 Defense starting zone. It causes latecomers and late loaders to miss the first door opening. I'm from Drooga's and I tend to let the timer count down since Level 50 PvP lately has been 95% Imp v Imp, therefore it's 95% Huttball. During the rare times it's not Huttball, I'd like to be able to take the Q within the last 10 seconds and not get ****ed when starting Voidstar on Defense. Thanks! P.S. - Dear trolls, yep, I'm fully aware I could take the Q early and sit around for the door to open, but I prefer to multi-task. Feel free to troll if you want, but your opinion's acknowledged.
  10. Hey BW Devs! Implement a real autoattack (aAtk) for us melee, non-stealth classes versus this ******** 2 rage per GCD. We're supposed to be masters of melee combat, not dealing pitiful amounts of damage while waiting for "rage" or "focus" to build. Besides, it would be REALLY nice to have a better tradeoff against blaster-wielding, shock-spamming, and/or stealthing players. Thanks!
  11. Play how you want, but the better you get at keybinding as many abilities as you can, the faster you can respond in PvP. Easier to hit a keybind than to eyeball the exact screen real estate where I put a cooldown, especially now that they have CD text options that tell me if a CD is up. Clickers are fine and all, but the most skilled players I meet, especially the ones who dominate in PvP/PvE, use keybinds. An example of a **** load of keybinds on a $5 ergonomic QWERTY keyboard and a $20 5 button mouse in MMOs: 1 through 0, - = R T Y F G H Z X C V (Shift) 1-7, QWERTY, ASDFGH, ZXCVB (Mouse) 3, 4, 5, Shift Mb3/Mb4/Mb5, (Ctrl) Mb3 (Can even go so far as to use [Alt], [Ctrl]+[shift], and [Alt]+[shift] keybinds, but there's only 4 hotbars versus the 10+ that some MMOs/add-ons have).
  12. It's been several months since release and there's been a noticeable decline in population across the Light/Standard servers. This means no PvP activity, no FPs to run with PuGs, less than 20 folks in the fleet and less than 100 during non-peak hours, etc. When all the dailies are done and one's friends aren't on for group play, there should at least be something to keep the loyal fans busy. Preferably PvP across servers at least. To put this in a business frame of mind: - Socialization is one of the top 3 factors for the long-term health of any MMO. Games like WoW stick around because as stubborn as Blizzard is, they eventually succumbed to their players' needs for socialization when isolation was on the rise. The TORtanic's iceberg is going to be the lack of cross-server activity. As much as the ability lag, low-FPS spikes, and lack of customization plague the player base, having limited abilities to communicate with a server of 50-300+ players means a very LONELY MMO experience. MMO? More like Mass Effect 2.5 with one less squadmember and the occasional group/PvP experience ....

    AFK to enjoy PvP

Why do it? There's no penalty to AFKing or leaving a WZ. There's no votekicks. People don't communicate (calling incoming, reading chat, etc.). Rewards are mostly time-in-WZ based ('cept for Huttball). And there are many more reasons to do it. There's not enough incentive to try at the moment, not enough people in a PuG who care, and too much Huttball disappointments (can you say 90% chance of Huttball in any given match? So, yea. AFK in PvP and enjoy the easy rewards. People calling you out? Just hide chat and keep doing what you're doing. Feel free to get angry at this post, but until things change, AFK will be the stance I take. GGHF and see you in there folks!
  14. Ain't that hard folks. Look at your minimap (which doesn't have a rotate option). Cardinal directions were invented so that ya newbs could orient yourself toward an accepted standard of direction. For those of you with directional handicaps: North is up, West is left, East is right, South is down. Learn it and use it instead of calling left/right. Spread the method in PvP til it catches (or until the TORtanic hits its iceberg). GGHF
  15. Agreed. On the receiving end, tracer's a high damage ablity, with no CD, and a stacking debuff on target. High damage abilities should have a CD or a high cost; there's no strategic resource use evaluation otherwise. Abilities that have no CD should be "auto-attack" type wherein it's low damage because there's no CD (i.e. Warriors pitiful 3-500 triple attack). Granted tracer's got a 1.5s cast time, but it's also got a low resource cost, which is why people bash its use. The OP should roll a warrior, getting it up to a high enough level, and feeling the frustration of facing seemingly unbalanced ranged classes, then come back to the forums.
  16. I support the great ideas in this thread, and since a BW CSR pointed me over here from a thread blasting the currently (flawed) RNG system, they better listen. Getting compared to Aion and other MMOs with horrible RNG systems spells bad news for a fledgling MMO aspiring to be "better". Bottom line: RNG *********** sucks and fits more in a Diablo-like dungeon crawler than an MMO. MMOs are extremely time-consuming and should result in definite rewards for both casuals and raiders alike. Not calling for a change in the bag system that results in hand-holding, but I would fully support changes that result in definite rewards versus this RNG-diseased **** which I'm reading all over the forums. Hell, why not implement a loot system that dramatically increases RNG chance (from 1% to 90%) based on some kind of "rested" status. The longer a player is logged out or hasn't received artifact quality upgrades (upgrades being the important part), the higher their RNG chance becomes. Remember the randomized paycheck example and apply it to your player base. No one enjoys working hard for minimal reward. Keep up a failing system and enjoy the soon to be F2P status.
  17. The default chat box configuration sucks balls. Small font and only a few lines of text. If someone's questing, PvPing, and anything else involving flooding the chatbox, the message doesn't get seen. Best to use the Launcher to spread a maintenance message, or an on-screen (middle of the screen) flashing warning every hour. The Launcher and client is what users interact with, and I doubt most of 'em babysit the website or forums when they play If the CSRs and BW dont' believe this, surveys should be conducted (via the friggin' launcher or some other main form of interaction). If they don't want to do any user testing, at least they should do some surveys via the Launcher. Hell, give folks an incentive for answering the survey: free pet just for helping BioWare work on their communication skills.
