Truth be told... we (operatives) can still kill pretty much anyone in 1v1 situation, but we have to use every available cooldown.
You pretty much have to do this to kill equally geared opponents in 1v1:
shield probe -> acid blade -> relic -> adrenal -> hidden strike -> debilitate -> backstab -> shiv -> lacerate -> corrosive dart (if you can afford) -> evasion -> cloaking screen -> adrenaline probe -> acid blade -> hidden strike -> sever tendon (talented) -> back stab -> shiv -> lacerate -> corrosive dart -> (he'll start running if still alive) -> grenade -> overload shot
Note that this doesn't work against sorcerers who skill out of stun and knock you back. So they need to have it on cooldown.
After that you are totally useless for 3 minutes.
The other spec (lethality) gives you those screenshots with 300k+ damage in WZs, because they don't even stealth (tbh you can't stealth most of the time in WZ because you are kept in combat for so long), they just put dots on everyone and farm damage.
