  1. I roll my eyes at 99% of ubsub threads, because they’re usually tantrums, but this one seems like a legitimate question. What exactly do I get for continuing to pay $15/mo? I’ll probably unsub.
  2. One with no people on the servers. Hermits.
  3. Coincidentally, there's no timeline on how long people are willing to pay $15/month to log in and sit in a QUE for hours.
  4. Most servers already don’t have that critical mass of subscribers, and I mean MOST. Your issues are legitimate, but they all pale too the lack of server population, which is not enough to support healthy PvP (or PvE for that matter). On my server, and several others, there’s effectively a two hour window during which you can PvP. Prior to and after that prime window, QUES can last HOURS. When you finally do PvP, it’s against the same people, often against the same Pre-Made that’s effectively farming the rest of the PvP community. 1.2 was a huge step backwards, but low server population is by far a greater issue.
  5. The only thing wrong with the OP is the thread title - I'm afraid that most of us agree with you and are willing to admit it.

    Update 1.3 revealed

No, the most important thing is that there actually is a community - something not possible with low pop servers. Friends are great, but they are not always on and MMO is about being able to do group content, and sometimes meet new people. This goes double for long PvP QUEs, and PvP requires playing against people who are not in your immediate circle of friends. BW is great at PR, but I really hope DE does not actually believe the nonsense in his IGN interview.
  7. No, it’s not even remotely similar. Plane of Time was the end of high level Raiding Guild Progression, content for an extremely small sliver of EQ within a month of POP’s release. Verant and SOE were pretty darn incompetent at times, but POT is hardly comparable to a low server population problem that literally affects most of the player base and makes it nigh impossible for them to experience multiplayer content. Plus, EQ, for all of its faults, had an excuse for many of tis mistakes – it was effectively the first and had no one to learn from. Every MMO developer since EQ should take lessens from the mistakes of previous MMOS. World of Warcraft’s design was basically EverQuest minus EQ’s asinine design decisions, IOW, WoW learned from many of EQ’s mistakes. TOR should also have learned from the mistakes of previous MMOS, and it did not. This Server Pop issue IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE, the answer is obvious, there is no excuse for not anticipating it since every MMO since WoW has experienced sharp pop decline in the months after release before stabilizing.
  8. No, the better solution is to do something else with your time. Read a book, watch TV, play another game, do something outside, etc. After leveling two characters to 50 (which took 5 months), it’s was obvious on the second character that other than the Class Story, leveling is very repetitive and re leveling your class to 50 would force repeating even the Class Story. Leveling on planets like Nar Shaada wouldn’t be fun a 3rd time, and people won’t play a game that’s not fun. A healthy server population that allows us to experience multiplayer content is not too much to ask, but “START OVER” isn’t a reasonable expectation, or solution to low server pops. I'm in a holding pattern ATM, hoping for the best.
  9. TOR is a game designed for casuals and most of us simply don't have as much free time as you do to start over.
  10. Honestly - I'd rather go read a book then play D3, which looks pretty Meh. Seriously though, it's not GW2, or D3 that will kill TOR, it's the low server Pops that make experiencing multi-player content difficult. People are going to eventually go find other things to do, regardless of the next big game on the horizon. There's nothing more frustrating than sitting on Fleet, and waiting, what a waste of time and not fun.
  11. No, I've played most MMOs at launch since UO and I've never come across an instance of a MMO with over 1,000,000 subscribers AND servers so dead that you can't play group content and develop a community.
  12. Maybe with 500 more, BW will get the idea before it's too late.
  13. The need for Server mergers is blindingly obvious. It does feel like BW is punishing the people who actually want to play, even though it's mostly apathy.
  14. You're right, TOR was built for Casuals. During the EA Conference call, the loss of 400,000 subscriptions was blamed on casual players leaving. Anyone else see a problem?
  15. It is 6:50 EST - I have been in QUE for 30 minutes. Can't take it much longer.
  16. I would totally drink Hatorade if it were real.
  17. Then you're not on one of the MANY low Population servers.
  18. Probably because I look at the server in the OP with 600 average population and think, “Boy, I wish my server had a average 600 pop.” /sigh What's frustrating is that it's so unnecessary, it's like being punished for WANTING to play TOR.
  19. WoW. If only we'd known 5 months ago. As great as that sounds, not going to reroll, too much time invested. Server Mergers and Transfers now. Not actually being able to play the game is not a QQ, it's a fundamental problem with a game if you can't play it.
  20. Hey, I liked the Froglocks!
