Honestly, solo queues are kind of stupid in general. I play for Midian as well, and if that's any correlation with the validity for the statement that follows, you can't really carry a team in solos as a sentinel.
In a situation where you're being focused, you really have two options. First is to pop saber ward and rebuke, and if needed, even an adrenal and mitigate all their burst. If your team is on par with the other team, by logical consequence your team has the advantage: the opponent wasted their opener on you, and you (should) have survived. This is what I prefer doing, even if it means my damage is lower than it should be.
The other option, as Koozie said, is to simply camo out. This is a tangential effort to escape damage, in my opinion, as many players simply switch back on to you after stealth and force you to waste aforementioned cooldowns anyway, but it does work about 30-40% of the time I reckon.
Those options being discussed, there's not really much you can do, especially as a combat sentinel in solo queues, where your damage is so easily mitigated by random stuns, knock backs and the such.
I really wouldn't brood too much over it. I was talking to Bry (another really good player) last night over the stupidity that is solo ranked, and he just said solo queues are for those who can't make it in grouped rank, and want to feel better about themselves. That's a bit harsh, but judging by the leader boards for our server, so very true.
Get a team together. That rating is far more meaningful than yolo queue.
