First of all your example classes are either being buffed too or are in the line for buffs.Operative dps is indeed squishy and if u go read at operative thread the reply of a biowares employee, the only reason their defensive cd's arent being buffed is because of operative healing spec.But instead they significantly boost their dmg.Sorc lightning is like arsenal merc so nothing to discuss(and even squishier).Vengeance "unreliable" dmg is more reliable than ours when focused. You keep mentioning underperforming specs and classes.Lets see the opposite.Take Pyro PT.He does more dmg than any of the 2 dps specs of mercenary (maaaaybe if arsenal is lucky enough on barrage and freecasts all day,wont happen),has more utility,is more beefy. Want me to start about marauders?Deception sins? We are not broken,however it takes so little effort to makes us underperrfom while other specs even pressured can fight back,that is not even funny. P.S: It takes so much effort to proc Barrage while being focus fired that at least they should put a freaking interrupt immunity to that. P.S2: TAke a look at Merc leaderboards and the rest leaderboards.The elo disparcity 2200 down to 1700 down to 1400 in one page doesnt tell you something?It should have been 2200-2100-2000-1900-1800-1700-1600.Why everyone elses ladder is completely normal while ours is freefalling (excluding sniper and even jugs have better disparsity)?
  2. Keep telling that to urself while u play ar senal and try to get a barrage proc with tracer missile,while sin or mara perma focus you and your dps drops by 40%(eventually lowering your burst). Pyro is on another case,its the case of paper.While arsenal is beefy as hell with many casts,pyro is significantly paper(due to much much worse offheals) plus he cockblocks himself after initial rotation of ED TD IM RS UL RS tso+fusion missile+power surge.If someone survives that,boom enjoy ur power shot being interrupted all day while ur amazingly pulling outstanding dps with ed and auto attacks. Seriously though just make FOE suit passive 30% without the need of cleanse(less gcd for more dmg uptime) and give us the talent pyro PT has Automated defenses instead of this crappy jet boost talent. P.S: If you ever wanted to make pyro mobile and fun all you had to do was to lower heat cost of missile blast significantly(to 16 perhaps) and give it the same proc rate power shot has for PPA and either remove PS from PPA or just reduce the dmg of missile blast significantly.

Indeed now that im 200+ ranked games i have the knowledge to answer my own questions .The point of this thread was to answer something before i enter ranked.I also am a BH holic and ill be running a PT soon(probly AP spec since operative buff is incoming and AP has -30% dmg on stuns).Played my 80-90 matches as pyrotech merc, he is rly so very squishier than ar senal merc,that when i swapped to arsenal i gained 150 elo in 3 days.You are right, if i free cast they will lose 90% of the time ( damage done is irrelevant,all you need is short burst periods to kill people not dmg showoff).My dmg with pyro was maybe better however my dmg with arsenal is more important because it comes all together and can be the lethal death blow we need on someone.Honestly,sometimes that i kite 2-3 people i feel like im the black sheep,i cannot retaliate besides one insta tracer(if i dont heal with pwer surge) ed en rocket punch hsm rs.Thats it, then im a loaf of bread spamming kolto missile and knockback while losing....I maybe hit my goal on arsenal (1380+ elo is the goal, currently 1220) but honestly im pretty sure once my PT is done,he will be 1000 times easier to achieve my goal.And that sucks

If you are being focused, best way to use it is double rapid scan or rapid scan+ concussion missile (on someone annoying) or perhaps rapid scan+tracer missile on the target u want to burst fast.There is no point to ever do double tracer missile(unless u want to finish someone fast and everything is on cd and he has like 4-5k hp left) mainly because lets say u proc the unload(and it isnt 100% sure with double tracer but w/e),do you actually believe it wont be interrupted?There u go,wasted power surge.Also a good offensive use is tracer on the target u want to burst fast+thermal sensor overrider+ fusion missle(if 2 or more people are stuck together).You could also use it to offheal a teammate of u fast so he doesnt die with 2x rapid scans.I think i covered up all possible tracer missile scenarios

I love the animations of merc healer and especially Kolto Shell and i really hope,with these changes and something tiny more added,merc healing becomes viable(and why not OP,im tired of operatives and marauders,sins,pts dominating every match).If nothing changes in this patch for the Arsenal and Pyrotech specs im so becoming a healer. P.S: Mercenary deserves one very good spec after all the treatment we had since our major nerfs back in the old days.Not to mention we never had interrupt(for real)

After 120+ ranked games vs the top players in leaderboards i honestly can confirm this.Being arsenal or pyro rarely matters vs 2-3 assassins or vs assassin+marauder as it will be rly difficult to do anything besides few dps.At least for myself, arsenal is simply useless in my server cos everyone interrupts and stunlocks frequently and perfectly.Also your statement about pyro having more burst is 100% true mainly because getting that huge crit on HSM is super rare(no idea why marauders must have insta crit on an ability that is same dmg wise with HSM but is also aoe...), plus railshot has more armor penetration than HSM,more uptime and epic set bonus gives it 15% crit chance.Honestly i feel like set bonus is wasted on arsenal (the 4/4 one) and its too good for pyro but cant complain about it . P.S: A little suggestion for all those who will try ranked with mercenary, be prepared to get flamed.A lot.Even when your sniper will do 5k dmg in 2 rounds it will always be ur fault.Because you are a mercenary.Arsenal or Pyrotech, once 2 people sit on your face(melee people) your dmg will be abyssmal.

Yeah i also meant u take the talent with 3% accuracy my bad :/.Also i didnt know that specials always hit so thank you for the enlightment.However the lower jetboost cd is only if someone is constantly hammering you isnt it?Yeah im>td>ed>railshot>ul>railshot is all insta canceling the unload ofc however after that arent u forced to cast in order to be able to have decent dps or burst?That is basically the only thing that keeps me hesitant(also bigger range knockback too fun on voidstar bridge ).

Hello there, First of all let me point out that i play ONLY mercenary since the beta of this game with some huge breaks however due to being pissed from the dev team gutting a spec(yeah -5% dmg reduction from power barrier because we were too "tanky" and gutting of tracer dps on a 0 mobility 0 interrupt class never forget).Before 1.7 i have always been a pyrotech in PvP with huge success in many cases (which left me depressed and drooling when looking a the old PT pyrotech DPS tree potential compared to our old poor).After 2.0 i have enjoyed arsenal way more mainly for the big numbers and utility the tree offers.However i see a lot of people decide to go pyrotech in the yoloque and although thats fine by me i really keep wondering "Why?".From this "Why?" 2 questions were born and i would be happy if someone with deep knowledge on mercenary would discuss with me. 1)Well since the stats we "should" be stacking are power and surge (up to the 75% cap) remodding all my conqueror gear left me with 94% accuracy(with the1% from max affection companion taken into account).Wouldnt that make our white dmg, which comes from many sources as pyrotech compared to unload and rail only from arsenal, much more susceptible to evade and dodge?For example, ur spamming ability as a pyrotech is power shot to proc the free rail while the main spam ability for arsenal is tracer missile to proc barraged unload(tons of dmg).The problem is wont you need a liiittle tiny more acuracy so that you will be sure that your white proc ability always hit the target?Doesnt that however hinder a tiny bit ur dps from the potential power loss? 2)People claim pyrotech is more mobile for yoloque mainly because of 2 factors: instacasts + dotting plus easier LoSing of the opponent Ranged dps(sniper,sorc,arsenal merc),while dissing dmg while being LoSed(dotting healer behind a pillar etc).Though i will give it to you that pyrotech performs better at LoSing vs arsenal (imho always) i believe there is a lie behind the matter of instacasts.You need to spam at least 2 times power shot in order to proc another railshot,same goes with tracer missile however arsenal has access to 2 instant cast spells thanks to powersurge.Dont you actually feel the need to spam powershot just for pure DMG after rail td fm are on cooldown?Or is that dps till u have most abilities on cooldown sufficient enough to leave a healer in the verge of death?What also i dont get is having better defensive cooldowns IMO as arsenal(new chaff flare talent rly good )meaning more hydraulic override duration and less cd,70% slow on unload(really useful when target is trying to escape or being knockbacked by you while hydraulic is open),decoy,energy rebounder,less cd on determination and jet boost along with longer distance knocked and a pseudo root, compared to poor defensive ones by pyro plus the fact that you can burst heal yourself with kolto missile 2 insta cast kolto missile(medpack also if needed).So WHY is pyrotech considered a superior soloque spec?Remember i want a discussion as i am not in any case dissing the pyro spec im just very curious for some things to be answered so i can better understand some decisions. Henu,outperforming as mercenary or not doesnt change the fact that the mercenary class lacks some fundamental things,such as: 1)Interrupt Now please for the love of everything you have holy,if u write below as answer electro dart,concussion missile(2 sec cast time LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL),rocket punch,jet boost as INTERRUPTS,then you need an EYE doctor.Sorry but its the plain truth.Interrupt is an ability that stops a casting ability from being done,while NOT GIVING ANY KIND OF RESOLVE.All those mentioned abilities give resolve,meaning at some point they wont have ANY effect on the target you focus.And lets discuss a little more this matter.So lets say we dont need an interrupt because we got all those abilities.Firsty,every other AC has similar cc abilities(if not BETTER) and they STILL have an interrupt.Lets say though that we are overpowered and we dont need an interrupt.Isnt it foolish to waste your defensive abilities(stun,mez,2xknockbacks) just to interrupt a healer or a casting?Isnt it also foolish for a RANGED dps to come to melee range just to "interrupt" with the knockbacks?And before someone says:"Interrupt is the melees job!",why snipers and sorces also have interrupt?So overperfoming with your class might complement the class but it doesnt hide the flaws of the AC.And that is the absence of one interrupt. 2)Casting times As Dksharktooth said,no matter how well you overperform your class,it doesnt change the fact that in order to EMPOWER your abilities(unload number one killing machine,railshot,hsm)you need to spam a single casting ability(that also happens to debuff your target=helping your team and also happens to provide you with 5% defense).Kill the tracer and what you have?An arsenal with like 100%?(?) if not more LESS dmg=useless.Do you disagree with me?Now overperforming with a mercenary spec doesnt change the fact that if the opponent ranked team desides to chain cc you they will.Trust me they will,and they will easily. 3)Lack of real defensive cooldowns Our number one beloved defensive cooldowns are energy shield,electro dart(offensive and defensive cd at the same time) jet boost,sometimes power surge with an instant heal and power surge with consussion missile and sometimes vs tech effects cure..Kolto overload healing is seriously crap(sorry if anyone disagrees but it really is...make one pyro mercenary throw you and incendiary missile then open kolto overload.If kolto overheals im then i am the pope.),rocket punch is severely unreliable(making you a god at huttball and a trash at every other non height battlefield).Also concussion missile imo needs to be reworked for our AC.Why every other AC has an aoe mez and we get a SINGLE target with 2 sec CASTING time(like we didnt have enough casting skills already........)is really beyond me.I truly believe if they chance concussion to like stun skill(mez for pve)or they make it aoe mez things will be better for our class. To sum it up, Overperfoming with one class because your a gifted player doesnt change the fact that this class has huge flaws IN COMPARISON to the other AC's.If im wrong please feel free to explain to me why im wrong,giving me solid facts as to why im wrong.Im really open to discussion.And for once,i never said we lack dmg(we actually hit very very hard atm).I do believe though we severely lack utility :/

Here is a list of fixes that i do believe will improve merc dps. 1)Degauss:When activated you are immune to all movement impairing effects Dont you all agree that this partcular talent is the most underused talent for the energy sheld from the 3 trees?Hell it might be the most underused talent in swtor generally.Why?Why the hell will you give up one of your SO VERY FEW defensive cooldowns to remove a petty slow or a root? 2)Power Shot has been removed.Mandalorian Iron warheads now increases all damage dealth by missiles by 10%(or keep it the same doesnt matter) and the healng dealt by Kolto missile by 20% and now additionally reduces the cost of missile blast by 4/8. 2)PPA:Unload procs free railshot 75% and MISSLE BLAST(see what i did there?) 45% (mobility issue fixed partly?with degauss and ths change yes,now lets move to the slow part) 3)Powertechs imo should and must have the 100% and we shouldnt.Why?Because if we can apply a slowing dot 100% of the time like them plus instant procs on PPA like them plus degauss plus cleanse plus knockback(dont underestmate this,valuable like the grapple)why on earth anyone would make a PT?Bare with me cos i havent finished yet.Although we cant proc sweltering heat 100% like PTs,we should get the following change.System caliberations has been reworked.It now doesnt give alacrity but instead it boosts the damage of our offhand by X amount.(6%?12%?5%? anything is MUCH more useful from the alacrity atm,at least from my dps perspective)Note:you can experiment not only with dmg but with other things like,when dual wielding you get x amount of accuracy or crit or w/e.Just give us a talent to reward our dual wielding,like Dual Wield Mastery talent from the carnage tree of marauders. 4)Rework fusion missile.Either up the dmg or lower the cost or lower the cd or just make it instant. 5)Power Surge.My,my,my.So our brothers powertechs get to have a 25% crit chance buff and we get what?1 instant cast skill?For real?Ask yourselves,whch of those 2 talents has the biggest magnitude in pvp?1 instant skill or 25% crit chance on a dmg machine like a pt?I dont rly think there will be someone who will disagree on that...Now the problem is what to do with this skill,since if u make for example the skill to give u 3 instant casts for its duration it would be a bit useless for pyro tree and a bit op for the other 2.So id like people to suggest something here for this particular skill. 6) Give.us.an.interrupt.seriously. 7)Rework concussion missile.Either make it mez an area or Power Overrides:Reduces the casting time of concussion missile by 1/2 sec and reduces the cd of tso by 15/30. These are the things i wanted to suggest from my personal experience with the 2 dps trees for mercenary(i hate being a healer sorry)

Yay we can do damage herpa derpa weeeeeeeeeeeee...And when someone decides to focus you,dead.That is for arsenal.....I see all of you speaking about dps as if it the main purpose of the bg.Let me tell you a little secret(and yes i am an arsenal 73 rank 3 wh pieces,hadnt been for health issues id be full but w/e thats not relevant).Damage isnt what wins games in huttball,voidstar,civil war,novare.Things that win games are: 1)Strong 1v1 potential(defending key points such as civil war points,voidstar doors,novare panel) 2)If you are a healer,strong kiting,losing ccing capability to keep yourself alive AND ur team(however,arsenal cant kite despite the fct that hes ranged or dps,cant say for sure what a healer can do because i havent played merc healer at wz) 3)The ability to BURST a target(such as a healer,or tank to break the guard on healer).you want an example of a burst class that is tons useful?PT Pyro 4)The ability to mass cc in order to capture points(such as mass fear or flashbang in order to get voidstar doors).There we have our knockback and stun and potentially with power surge the concussion.But in no way we have an aoe cc :/ So to sum it up: 1)Definetly not strong 1v1 potential unless ur playing vs a braindead zombie 2)NO whatsoever ability to kite since our dmg demands us to be static 3)Good burst,ill support that but EASILY interruptable(meaning that we arent reliable to a team) 4)Minor to medium CC capability(which becomes major capability at Huttball) All in all,our aoes and good use of knockbacks are beautiful but is that all we offer on the table? P.S:Before some brainiac say "omg pyro merc is so imba BBQ tralalalalala" pyro merc is good yeah,but ur brother pyro PT does what u do faster,better,harder,stronger.If you want to play a tree where you will always know that your riding a horse with 3 legs in comparison with ur brother riding a ferrari then be my guest.Sure you will get to your destination sometime and somehow,someone else though will be already there faster and with style.

Im in this with you tbh.Our dmg is fine,more than fine actually.But on pvp and pvp speaking only,we are so unable to build up our dmg its not even funny....We need huge babysit from a healer(which though is welcomed with our +8% more healing received,9% if u max makos affection, IF u put points into it)...we also need the interrupt ability...yes we do. But dmg,dmg is fine

So i have been wondering a thing for a long time now..I was wondering if anyone had tested that talents such as firebug for example that add X amount of critical bonus damage(surge?) actually stack with the current surge cap(75%)..For example lets take firebug,if u already have 75% surge AND u have 2/2 points in firebug,does it mean your skills will hit for 105% critical bonus damage or something else...?Anyone out there who actually tested this or a dev response would be welcomed.

I wont disagree with how useful our knockbacks are(1 only for pyro with very significantly reduced ranged and cd).But in the end of the day,they are knockbacks.Noone will use their cc breaker for them(cos they dont force you to do such a thing).They are very much positioning dependant,meaning the healer must have a bad positioning in order to either be thrown away far to prevent him from healing or to throw him to a gap(voidstar bridge etc).Sure they are useful disengagers when your healer is swarmed by people and u just throw them all back away,giving a fresh breath of life to your healer but yet again their usability is only better than flashbangs and fear only on huttball(without that meaning that at huttball those 2 lose theirs ofc).In the end,fear or flashbang will force a cc breaker on multiple people possibly or will result in the healer dying.Your knockbacks might just result in the melees recharging back while saying to you "oh you knockbacked me away?look at all the f i give".Point is with so many gap closers u cant possibly rely 100% on your knockbacks to do everything your class lacks(example,yes u can interrupt a healer with ur 2 knockbacks as arsenal but ddont forget that u are firstly putting yourself in melee range,exposing yourself to danger and also you are giving him resolve). I would be ok if they gave us some of the following things: 1)Interrupt (i cant stress how obsessed i am for not having one) 2)2nd shield or improve the mitigation on the first 3)Improve degauss talent to make u slow,root immune for example(for the love of god,who would use your ONLY defensive cd to remove a force slow or force root,since tech slow root are cleansable) 4)Barrage makes unload uninterruptable 5)Make concussion not break on dmg with talent but reduce its stun seconds(its nice for arsenal and healer but as pyro u cant use it effectively on 1v1,you must wait for ur dots to wear off,annoying) 6)Decrease incendiary missile heat cost(i wouldnt mind if they reduce its initial dmg to make up for it,think about it.They reduced cleanses heat cost which makes it spammable screwing u over for removing your dot by pushing u on the verge of overheating) 7)Possibly swap power shot with missile blast on the PPA procs.Not rly fair when pt pyro not only has bigger railshot and burning effect dmg,more pene on railshot,interrupt,2nd aoe stun(carbonize anyone?),grapple,100% cgc proc but ALSO the 2 skills procing its PPA are TECH meaning you have more white DMG aaaaand ur somewhat stationary to use power shot(which u only should when u arent focused by melee) Thats just some suggestions,feel free to add something more if u wish to.It doesnt mean all this need to be implemented,but some of them would be good to be.

I have no idea why u argue about numbers...All of you...So what 500k,100k or 1kk?Only thing that truly matters and will matter at ranked wz's is quality dps.Meaning,the burst you will perform to wipe out a healer as fast as possible.In the end of the day it wont matter if you pulled 500k if u havent killed the healer to turn the tides for ur team.Powertechs like pyro can turn the tides of a match with a healer on em.Marauders also.Juggernuts also,hell snipers also.You know why?Its not because they nerfed us.Its because of their dps being instant and at will.Arsenal started to feel viable for the sole reason that our INSTANT skill became Death itself.I dont care if tracer missile does like 100 dmg anymore,all we need from it is the debuff to set the other skills up(Railshot with tracer lock,unload and hsm with hs and again unload with barrage).I dont know how much dps we can pull atm,infact i dont really care.As long as our dps is vastly predictable,interruptable,los-able and stunnable,we are not fine Mr Sharktooth.Do you understand that?We currently need the biggest babysit of all the dps classes from the healers to perform the same with the other dps will perform with much less babysit.You know what guilds around are whispering all over my server,which im pretty sure accounts for the other servers also?"We dont really need a mercenary dps right now for ranked warzones.We dont want one.It doesnt offer anything special to the table.Merc healer hell yes.Dps nope." You find this ok? Edit:Before someone says snipers dont have instant dps,yes but they offer much more than you.

Let me explain to you with simple words why people whine about this bug.When you are the underdog of the classes(the class that is always mocked on pvp for using(OMG SPAMMING LOLOLOLOL) tracer missile,an ability that enables us to use 3 other abilities EMPOWERED(rail shot,unload,heatseeker missiles),when u are the class that has only one defensive cooldown,when u are the ONLY class without interrupt,when u are the class pretty much a spec with low cd on interrupt destroys it,when you actually got nerfed after 1.2(yes the nerf was justified and im 100% cool with it even though it isnt 10% on tracer its much more nor it is 10% on heatseeker,its much less,explain to me how after 1.2.c and the hotfix in exactly same gear i crit the same with 1.1 hsm but anyway).Its like,you were presented as the most overpowered class in the whole freaking world,even more fuzz than operatives did even though u werent the most OP spec in game currently,you received a justified(?) nerf,bioware acts like their racists on u about the interrupt issue. To sum it up,yes it is playable and it will always be for the good players.But dont u feel scammed?Its not like we were the most overpowered plague in all mmos to be treated like it..Dunno about you,the only reason i stopped playing after 1.2.c was not that we were useless,its the feeling that you just have been scammed.A feeling which grew stronger after today's patch,where bioware litteraly ignored our testing and complaints.

A very friendly advice,if u really want to pvp most of the time,after the small hotfix (hotfail i'd say) after the 1.2 patch in which they broke heatseeker missiles,my advice for u is to go pyro all the way.Once 1.2 was introduced,arsenal became finally the spec it was meant to be,all or nothing.High risk(tracer interrupted,no kiting ability),high reward(watch them turn to pieces,which is exactly what a dps must do,sure we have heals we have cleanse,but that doesnt make us healers,90% of the case u wont heal ur teammates and cleanse them ALL the game and that ISNT ur job due to overheating and extreme casting time for heals as dps).Sigh..now pretty much we offer nothing that a pyro merc cant offer on the table,sure we got the tracer debuff but mind me,good luck spamming it to support ur team IF the opponents let u....And for real,is this where we came to?Is this the class we became now?A SUPPORT dps?No i dont accept this.I cant accept this.We dont even have an interrupt to begin with.Our stuns offer HUGE resolve in comparison with many other cc abilities and frankly,we dont have STUNS.We have A stun.Without power surge,good luck casting 2 sec a MEZ.Funny thing is,poor pyro cant mez with concussion most of the times, unless its an opener or the opponent cleanses frequently,due to dots breaking it.So really in our current state what more do we offer vs pyro?A week ago i was asking the community on this forum what more pyro offers now to the table compared to all other classes and many people sadly agreed.Look where we came to in just a week....we are below pyros(merc pyros always).Call this QQ or whatever u want it but for a class without an interrupt and with so much needance in casting in a PvP where everyone and their mom has tons of cc and interrupts(well not mercenary) to turn it into a support-the-dps-with-a-debuff is something i cant accept it.I wont accept it.Sorry got a little carried,but im trying to inform u about the things ur going to put urself in. In conclusion:Pyro ATM is in a better state for pvp unless ur teammates are in the mood to breastfeed u,babysit u,put u dippers on and sing a song to u.
