  1. This has been beaten to death in numerous other posts, but here it is.. again. A cross server LFG tool does NOT do anything to the "community". All it does is help people get things done faster, and easier. End of story. For all of you people that *think* that the "community" will be ruined because it will allow people to play like a-holes.. well.. people will play like that no matter what. How many times have you had someone come up and steal a chest that you are clearing, or a quest item or gatherable? ALL the time. That is extremely a-holish, but are those people concerned about their "rep" on the server? Umm no. I have called out poor behavior in general chat to warn other players, and you know what they say? ****.. QQ some moar noob.. nobody cares.. etc.. etc.. So don't tell me that anyone cares about what other players do, because they just don't. I have had many, many idiots, ninjas and all round bad people in my groups for flashpoints and 4-mans and guess what? Nobody cared, and would more than likely group with that person again JUST to try and get something done on these barren empty planets. I am SICK AND TIRED of having tons of 4-man quests in my logs on my several characters because nobody ever responds to LFG requests for them, or the other 3 people on the planet (if it's busy) don't need or want to do them. I haven't done any FP's past level 20 because I don't want to waste an hour or more of my play time sitting on the fleet typing LFG over and over and over. This game needs a LFG tool.. bad. And please don't start the "get a guild" or "make friends' argument either. I want to be able to log in, find a group, and play without going through the hassle of waiting for hours, not create a star wars facebook page. Alas, by the time they actually implement a tool for the people that need it, they will be gone, and the few fanbois left will be huddled together in their guilds playing with each other, so, problem solved I guess.
  2. The previous GCD effect worked fine. This "new and improved" is not an improvement. Why did you waste time fixing something that wasn't broken and did what it was intended to do? Clearly the community is not happy with what you've done.. so change it back, please. Spend more time on fixing other actual issues. I'd love to be able to get the datacron in Alderaan that almost all my characters are too big to fit into the crack in the wall to get. Come on... did anyone actually test anything?
  3. An alternate advancement system like EQ had for players at max level who want to make their characters better by actually continuing to play the game solo, and not raid or pvp.
  4. Whenever I see a long post in paragraph form, I get excited. It means someone actually has something to say, and might even know how to say it. Unfortunately, while I agree that perhaps a lot of players are like the ones described in this post, not all of us are. I don't game professionally, as in, I don't make money at it, but it is all I do. I played WoW, a lot, but I didn't raid that often or pvp at all because of the aforementioned ePeen issue. I was born with a small ePeen, so I don't feel the need to show it off. I don't have a problem with a lack of end game content just yet, but I did expect a few less issues with the UI and some other areas of the game, such as a lack of "convenience" tools. I don't want to insult the OP by saying he just made the post to hear himself talk, but if I read something that long, I'd like to see some sort of actual game related comments and not a diatribe on the current MMO community of spoiled ADD kids that most intelligent adults already know about.
  5. Once again, stop blaming the tool for the community. It has nothing to do with it. It has to do with.. oh I don't know.. the community?
  6. Actually, your post illustrates the problem with the LFG tool debate. Every single negative response contains two major premises: 1. Play like I play, or don't play at all. 2. It sucked in WoW.. therefore it will suck here. Ok, I don't want to be in a guild, and I don't necessarily want to have in game friends to rely on when I want to play. The fact that you do, is fine, but don't tell me to do something I don't want to do to be able to enjoy the game. It's selfish of you to expect me to do that, and just plain stupid. The problem with the LFG tool in WoW was not the LFG tool. It was the people you got in your groups. The tool was not to blame for all the idiots and rude people that play the game. It doesn't matter if they were on your server, or another server. The tool doesn't make bad people... people just are. If you can try and understand that, you might make some progress. ALL the tool does is make it faster and easier to get groups and get things done. That's IT. It doesn't ruin socialization and it doesn't encourage people to be idiots. If you're an idiot, you just are, and how you got to be in a group has nothing to do with it. Stop blaming a tool for making people.. tools. One has nothing to do with the other, and the more you think it does, the sillier you sound. Now, as far as your running groups all day for free epics.. where do I start. So if you group with friends, and chain run instances all day for gear.... that's ok right? But if you do it with a tool, which would take longer... it's bad. Your logic is solid there. Secondly, the LFG tool doesn't make the instances easier, or the loot easier to get, that's how the developers design the instances. If you think they are too easy, make a post about THAT, and not a tool that makes getting groups more convenient.
  7. Yes, I do know that. I guess my point was, if you knew these problems, you would have fixed them before releasing a game and saying it was ready to go live. We aren't talking about getting stuck in the environment now and then, or an item color changing. We are talking about people wasting time and credits on things, with ZERO feedback from the company about these issues. Adding the ability to sell back an item to a vendor? Not having your companion return from a mission and close all your other windows? Come on man, this isn't innovative coding that needs to be done. This seems to me to be a lot of simple oversight or a plain lack of concern for customer satisfaction. I've said it before, I like the game. I am not a "hater", but I do hate the fact that every time someone points out that the game is not the ******* and end all be all to the MMO world, some fanboi calls them a whiner, or complainer, or uses the dreaded QQ MOAR! Really, this has nothing to do with the content, it has to do with what I think most people expect from a game they pay for, such as a working customizable UI etc..
  8. I play a lot, it's what I do. I am not in a big rush to hit 50. I could have taken 1 character and easily been 50, but I wanted to try out all of the classes. In every MMO I play, I have one of everything. It's just what I like to do. I have each class to 19, just so they all have their ships, and the one I have decided to take to 50 first at 27. The fact that there is very little end game content is not a concern for me... yet. I don't really like to raid or pvp, so I guess I'll try and find something to do. The problem that concerns me is that all Bioware has planned is raids and pvp at 50. Believe it or not, some people don't want to do that sort of thing. I'd like to work on developing my players more without grinding raids and pvp. I was hoping to see some sort of AA system like in EQ or even some sort of fairly lame achievements system such as WoW, which i didn't really like that much, but it was SOMETHING to do. Ok.. sorry, getting off topic there. As for the lack of content again, I am still more concerned with the horrid UI and bugs that keep popping up all over the place. If BUGs exist that cause players to lose items or causes them to lose credit for something they spent time doing, that's sort of unacceptable. How most of these issues made it past beta into a live game are beyond me. There's no way 750k people could have played for a few days in the final beta and NOT had these problems and reported them. Hey Bioware, I have time on my hands. I was a technical engineer at one of the largest software companies in the world. If you had hired me, in just 2 or 3 days of playing I could have helped you find a lot of problems. You have my account info.. feel free to contact me when you want the help. *wink*
  9. Some people aren't paid by Bioware to come fanboi on the forums. Some people actually try to take the time away from the game they enjoy to point out obvious failures to try and get them fixed. Maybe if the company was participating more on the forums to address the dozens of issues other than deleting posts they don't like, or warning people for "language" violations, there would be less posts about the same things over and over. I know it's a hard concept to understand, but some people can like the game, but still see there are a ton of glaring issues that need to be fixed... ASAP.
  10. No, some people DO want that, and if they do, who are you to say they can't have it?
  11. I was making a small joke about the financial institution crisis... it wasn't really meant to be a "serious" title.
  12. Say what you want about the game. You love it, you hate it. It made you laugh, it made you cry, it was better than Cats (don't Google it, it's not an MMO). My real fear is that for whatever reasons the game *doesn't* do well and either loses a lot of money, or does not meet its fiscal expectations. This will hurt future MMO gaming ventures as investors will be scared to end up like "that star wars game". Now, I am not saying I think the game will fail, or that I want it to fail. I am saying the exact opposite. If this game does well, there is a lot more opportunity for new games down the road to get the huge financial backing it takes to make a quality MMO. What do you think?
  13. I posted about this earlier, but within 30 seconds it was pushed right off the ADD list to page 2, so afaik, nobody saw it, including the people who should, Bioware. If you really care about any sort of productive feedback regarding suggestions and BUGs, please create a couple of new forums for people to post in. Half of the posts I see in the general discussion have the same suggestions which float off into obscurity. This causes people to post the same things over and over, totally clogging the forum. Wouldn't it be nice to have ONE forum to go to in order to see if other people had the same ideas you did, so you don't have to post duplicate suggestions? Wouldn't you, the developer like to see some feedback that isn't mixed in with hate posts and questions about what character name you should make? I know I'd like to see it. I'd also like to see a formal BUG submission form, and a BUG forum for the same reason. I hate to break it to you, but some things don't work properly, and I'd like to know what these issues are, as well as try to point out new ones for you to look into. Are you that scared of people looking in one spot to see all of the problems? I guess it's possible that you already know every BUG in the software, as well as considered every suggestion that people have about how to improve certain aspects of the game. But, just in case that's not true, please allow your customers more direct access to you so we can work together to make this a better game.
  14. If they added an option that allowed you to play a purple glowing ball named Mr. Gobbly Goo and bounce from planet to planet shooting rainbow beams and you wanted to be one... I'd say go for it, and have fun.
  15. A lot of people are just idiots. They really are. It's the same thing with the LFG tool debate. They just want to stop you from using tools that make the game more fun and convenient, even when they themselves don't have to use the tools at all if they don't want to. Really.. HTF does it effect your game play AT ALL if someone else has the ability to change specs from healer to DPS, or tank to DPS? It doesn't. Zip. Zero. Zilch. Yet people don't want it, and like the other useful tools people want and expect, there are those who seemingly just want you not to have something, just for the sake of not having it. Most of the negative comments I see about dual spec and the LFG tool boggle my mind.
  16. I am sure this was said several times... Because Bioware wants WoW players to spend their money here. Don't even pretend for a second they don't. Even if they didn't, they had all of the knowledge Blizzard learned over that 7 years, and should have used it. I could go on and on about the missing features and everything else that people are talking about elsewhere, but that should answer your question.
  17. Haha wow... you people crack me up. I have a sense of entitlement because I want a tool that saves me tons of time while trying to find groups? I want a single player game.. yet I want a tool to find groups easier. That makes sense. Other players to "serve my needs". You mean like.. EVERY time someone looks for a group? I guess that would be asking for people to serve their needs. We're all just a bunch of sociopaths because we need people to form a group. Holier than thou, because I want the OPTION to find groups without sitting in place and spamming a general chat channel over and over. Ok.. if that's what you consider holier than thou. Actually.. the "holier than thou" folks are the ones AGAINST a LFG tool. They think I have to play the way they do, because THEY know better than me, and I won't be social EVER because I like getting groups without going to a lot of trouble and wasting time. Seriously man.. think about what you just said. No.. really *think* about it and see if me asking what the problem is with a tool to make it easier to find groups, and you insulting me over it makes any sense.
  18. Bioware: When REing a stack of biochem items, does it do the RE calculation for a new discovery for each item in the stack, or just one time? I know common sense says it would internally do the calculation for each one, but just to be on the safe side, I thought it would be good to hear it officially. Thanks.
  19. It would be nice to have a forum specifically for new ideas or recommendations for future content or suggestions for the current game. I have seen a lot of great recommendations from trying to keep up with all the new posts, but they get mixed in with other less helpful forum posts and eventually get pushed back to obscurity. If you have ideas and would like a forum to discuss them, please bump this post and we'll see if we can get a forum for these types of ideas. It might also help clean up the general discussion forum... a little. Thanks.
  20. I have been reading this thread off and on, as well as compiling my own list of suggestions / fixes for the game as I play. I waited for the patch to see what might be fixed, so here is what I have. Some of them may have been, or have been suggested, but here is what I have come up with, so far: Grouping ====== 1. LFG Tool Cross server or server only.. we need SOMETHING. I don't want to hear about how easy it is for other people playing with friends or finding groups. A lot of people, especially on the Republic side which is ALWAYS underpopulated, we have a lot of trouble finding groups, especially during off peak times. 2. Ability to transport to group members for faster instance starts. Ok, if you can't or won't add a LFG tool, at the very least let me port to the instance entrance of the instance I want to go to, or at least have some sort of "summoning stone" at the entrance so at least one group member can bring the rest of us there. Call it a teleport pad. Call it anything you want. There is nothing worse than having 3 people standing at the instance while the last group member needs 15 minutes to fight/find his way to you. Let's not even mention the times people go to the wrong place... 3. Ability to see general chat on your ship. I am sure a lot of people spend time on their ship, for whatever reasons. If you won't / can't put in a LFG tool (please for the love of all the MMO gods.. DO put one in SOON) at least allow people to see general chat on their ship. Add a tool for "monitor communications" and you can choose which planet's general chat you want to be able to access. This way you can stay on your ship and do space missions, but still be able to chat and watch for people looking for groups for something you want to do. Come on.. it wouldn't be THAT hard to do. Social ===== 1. Cross character friends list. I shouldn't have to add friends to every different character over and over. 2. Add friends to your friends list that are offline. Unable to add people to your friends list if they are not online. 3. Cross server friends chat. Something like real ID at Blizzard. I am sure we all have real friends who play different characters on different servers and it would be nice to chat with them wherever they are playing. UI Customization ================ While the entire UI needs an overhaul, here are some things that I am sure you know need to be done. 1. Moveable frames. 2. Resizeable frames. 3. General chat font/size change ability. 4. Right clicking on a person's character should bring up the same right click menu as clicking on their portrait when you have them selected. 5. Have the vendor sale value of items in the tooltip. 6. Threat meter. Damage meters are not really a vital tool, but a threat meter IS. It is nice to know when you need to back off for the tank to be able to maintain aggro. 7. Target of target. 8. Inventory command button for "sell trash / grey items / junk". 9. Camera distance resets often. 10. More than 2 window open at a time. Map / Travel ======== 1. Less travel time from your ship to the actual world. It's nothing but a waste of playing time to have to walk through 3 or 4 zones to get from your ship to the actual world. 2. Map tool should be able to select specific zones in the area, not just the area you are in, and the entire world. 3. Add a ship bind point. You should be able to "hearth" to your ship from anywhere. 4. Ability to resize/rescale the main map. I run the game on max resolution and there have been times when I can't see the entire map area clearly. I've missed things on the very bottom of the screen which caused me a lot of travel time because I had to run from the very top of the zone to the bottom. Let me decide how big I want my map to be on my screen. 5. Allow custom waypoints to be added to the map. 6. More zone locations on map. Eg. it took me 20 mins to find a post telling me where the entrance to Transport Station 5 was because I had no idea where it was on my map. Yes, I had been there before, but after my mission was done, I had no way of knowing where it was. 7. Show on your world map where your actual quest hand ins are. Misc ==== 1. Unable to text search AH. 2. When adding items to and from your bank / inventory have them auto-stack. 3.Ability to track specific resources on map, not just ALL resources. I might have a character that does nothing but gather, and I want to only track one resource at a particular time. 4.If your companion returns while you are in the middle of a mail session.. it closes your mail. 5. Mail from ship. I should be able to mail from my ship, or at least have a mail interface and then have an option to send mail via sending my companion off to do it for me. 6. Companion mission fails if companion is dismissed from group. I can't confirm this, but my wife claimed that she had her companion on a mission and when she joined a group and her companion was dismissed automatically, her mission failed. This might be more of a bug than a suggestion for improvement, but it's only second hand, and maybe she made a mistake. 7. Only interrupt channeled spells when moving... not when you click another spell, or at least have an option for it in preferences. 8. If your companion is out of range when gathering, do the gather yourself.
  21. I agree. Nancy Kerrigan is ******! She took a hammer to the knee and kept on skating!
