  1. It completely depends on what you want to do. Are you going to level through questing while waiting for the long queue times to pop? I myself started off as deception. I was questing while waiting in queues. I found that deception was a little too squishy for my liking. I got the feeling that it wasn't worth running until you were able to get your hands on voltaic slash. I switched to darkness and found my survivability in both pvp and pve improved a lot and that has allowed me to be more useful or effective in both areas (defending and pressure in pvp mainly) as well as giving me less down time and speeding up my levelling. Also since the switch i have found that i am consistently challenging for the number one spot in the pvp charts as i never seem to get anything less than 10 medals per match unlike before where around 6-7 was average. Damage seems steady, protection points seem far higher than when i played my Jugg and the amount of healing i seemed to do pre harnessed darkness was surprising. Once that came in to play the numbers shot up further. All in all it just depends on your playstyle. I don't mind trading off a little dps for a lot more survivabilty but thats my preference. You may just like the zerg/burn of the deception tree. Take the time to read about rotations, builds etc and give the other trees a week each and see how you go. There is no point in playing a spec you don't enjoy and thats the reason for playing the game after all.
  2. Granted, you should receive objective points for scoring. After all it is your objective to outscore the opposing team. But, if all you did was run to the opposing teams side and received the ball to score and at the same time provided no backup CC, protection or healing you can't expect to be called the MVP. as the other person replied, would you have scored if it weren't for the TEAM effort getting to you in the process. What good are you just standing there waiting to get the ball. I am not accusing you of doing it but i have seen it on a number of occasions, especially from assassins who 'cloak up', skulk to the score zone and stand there doing next to nothing and expecting everyone to get the ball to them. With that tactic you might as well play one man down. To answer the statement about not being a good player even though you won a large number of medals. Yes, this is true and i wasn't saying otherwise. But it is a reasonble indicator to show the players activity and effort at performing a role. Take a 2 juggernauts for instance. Both are rage spec. Player 1: runs as or with the ball carrier. Is in soresu form in order to put guard up on carrier or healer. Reduces regular damage by keeping scream up and uses taunt to keep damage down and in turn helps the team to win. Chances are this person will come away with say 9 medals. Performs a team role yet gets no MVP. Player 2 (on same team): Does none of the above. Chases kills and get kited and killed. Comes away with 3-4 medals. Gets an MVP. I am not saying this only happens to juggs. This is just an example. But this is what i am talking about. Whats the point in working as a team if the team doesn't recognise your contribution.
  3. That's not the main problem with MVP votes at the moment. As we all know MVP stands for MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. So, with that in mind an MVP vote should go to either: the most damage OR highest number of total medals OR highest protection OR highest healing OR highest objective points. So how does it make sense that someone at the bottom who has done none of the above and contributed so little can receive a medal and players who fulfill the listed criteria get nothing. The number of times i have been at the top of damage, protection, objective points and not received votes is a joke. Votes should be based around how you performed overall and not because you are in a group with friends. Surely it should be an automated vote system that take in to account the listed factors as well as number of passes/goals (huttball) captures etc and awards accordingly. This is the major problem! If it stays the current way, MVP should be changed to MPP - MOST POPULAR PLAYER!!!!!!
  4. Does anyone else have any opinions on this and can anyone recommend any particular builds.
  5. I am getting annoyed by people saying that certain classes don't or shouldn't be able to match damage done by a 'pure' spec. If you choose a jugganaut because you like the old school single saber style then that is your choce. And if you want to run that class as dps then again that is your choice. The question is why shouldn't a jugganaut dps spec be considered 'pure' and be treated as one. Yes they have more armour so in that case give the medium or light armour class more mitigation therefore equalling it out. If you are paying for a game and having to choose a class that essentially you don't want to play because you want to dps because the outcome is not equal is rediculous.
  6. I have recently stopped playing my Juggernaut because i can't make my mind up on which direction to go in. Up until now I have been levelling by doing a mix of PVE questing (mainly just class quests with the occasional extras that are in the vacinity of the class quest) and PVP. I am currently sitting at level 35 and something was just niggling away causing me to reset my talent tree with the intention of trying to fix it. I levelled as Vengeance until the reset and as far as the PVE content was concerned I was doing fine. My problem was in PVP in which I just didn't seem to perform. I have been trailing through endless forum threads and other websites trying to find out what I should do and I am now at a point where I don't play my Warrior because I don't want to make a bad decision with my spec. In short, the question I am asking is what would I be better off playing as? I want to make the right decision now so I can learn to play it properly over the remaining 15 levels rather than be a fail level 50 that doesn't know his class due to multi-respeccing. Is there a dps build that performs at both PVP and PVE (all other classes seem to have a spec that can do both) for levelling and at level 50, performs respectably there too? While my warrior has been on downtime, I have levelled my Deception Assassin to level 25 and the build I have laid out is performing fine in both PVE and PVP which brought me to the question whether there is a Warrior build that can do the same. I am loving the quest line for the Sith Warrior and I want to continue it but I want to make sure I get my talent spec correct before I carry on. I would like to add though that I am looking for a dps spec. I playing as a tank in WoW, in fact I had 2 and have decided that in SWTOR I want to get away from tanking as I did it for 4-5 years previously. I chose Juggernaut because I like the single saber style (old school Star Wars fan at heart) I look forward to hearing from the community and thanks in advance for any help or advice offered.
  7. I play vengeance and love it. I've been in FP's and heroic 4's with marauders and i always manage to stay on par with them. How do i know this i hear you ask. I've had cases where i have picked up a single mob as though i am off tanking and nuked it down at the same time as a marauder doing the same. My target dies pretty much at the same time, and in some cases faster, than the marauders target. This set aside i really don't care what dps i do. The main aim should be to work as a team to get the job done and not open up some personal dps race/competition that can have a negative effect on the group. I really don't want meters introduced in to the game. There is nothing worse than a player linking damage meters in chat while boasting about how much better he is than everyone else. I left wow and enjoy swtor because it isn't wow. No elitism caused by addons like damage meters. At the end of the day you should play a class because you enjoy it and not because of the numbers it can produce. I enjoy vengeance and will continue to play regardless of future findings. If meters come out and prove that vengeance dps numbers are low then it will be buffed as someone has mentioned above. Will meters influence my decisions as to how i play the game. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!
