  1. I like the idea of this thing. However I don't think it's appropriate to be giving out top level gear for something that is going to be a solo event. I also think giving out anything less is absolutely inappropriate because this game throws that stuff at you at every turn. So, if you give out any level of gear you're making a mistake, because one way there will be absolutely no incentive and the other way you are giving something that should remain top level gear content (IE: groups of some kind). I also think giving out things like mounts or companions or BoL gear has been done and would get pretty old, if it was the only thing available. So where does that leave us? How about something unique for once. Like letting us make our own colour crystal with any colours we chose? Or Cartel Market certificates and rep? or we get a map that tells us where to go to get these things. Something special. If you have your minds set on giving out gear how about just a legendary top level empty personalised piece of gear? If there is going to be no more group content we have to get that stuff somehow. By empty I mean no mods or anything in it. So for 5: A cartel certificate. 7: A customisable crystal. Non white to prevent rich people tears. 10: Legendary amazing looking dark purple gear with some special power. Non BoL and also every slot available to give it some replayability.
  2. Online gambling a problem huh? You're talking about the same game that has you buy Cartel Coins with real money to use in the Cartel Market on packs of things that may or may not have the stuff you want in them. Most likely not. BW and EA are unconcerned with online gambling. Not only that, you would be using in game credits. They aren't real. I have wanted this in the game since I heard of its inception. I don't understand why they haven't implemented this and pod racing to give us something to do with one another that doesn't involve doing heroics we have done many many times before or PvP which not everyone is into, and seems to have long wait times. I second the motion for them to put this in the game!
  3. I really like this story, It's why I came back and subbed and played the game for the first time in a loooong time. But there are some cliches in KotFE that I wish we could see the end of. A lot of people have commented on Vaylin being a weak character and I agree. That scene at the start where she was just casually walking while your character tries to escape with carbonite poisoning was just silly. I didn't like HK55 either. He was just an addon to try and get kotor people playing I suspect or something of the like. He needed a background. What really jars me out of a story is sub par writing. For example: "You will never *insert whatever right here*" And then we just go do it. I hate that crap. Perhaps some interesting dialogue or even some motivation for the Star Fortress commanders or even some personality that isn't "Generic bad guy" would be lovely. I would love to see better writing in the next episode. More imaginitive writing.
  4. I've been thinking about this for a while. For me personally, Bioware used to be one of the last bastions of awesome RPGs. Which are my favourite genre of game. I looked at SWTOR and originally I wasn't going to play it, but the promise of a furthering of the story and some closure on KOTOR2 was too much so I caved in the end. To begin with though I wanted to support them. Especially with Australian servers. That was pretty cool. What I really wanted from Bioware was some innovation, some really deep story that really sucked me in. I think they almost got there. But not quite. It didn't quite scratch that itch I have. Being able to play KOTOR as a multiplayer really had me going as well. Which basically is what this game is. I also wanted a better character progression scheme, not be locked in to one thing or another. Something much more liquid and diverse. I don't think SWTOR is bad, I have stopped playing a number of times and come back a few months later to give it another go/experience another class story line. Some things definitely left a bad taste in my mouth about it though, which is a discussion for another thread. But suffice to say I believe they could have done so much more with this game then they did. The character progression I think should have been much different than it was. I didn't like the game engine. I don't like the cartel store(among other business decisions they have made). End game content.... lol. But the game has that Almost there quality to it that keeps me hooked just a little bit, hoping one day they will just push it over the edge and make it great. I still come back here and check out the forums sometimes hoping to see discussions just like this one, or some announcement of more story (actual story progression) or they are finally fixing some really annoying bugs that are STILL in the game, and just seem to keep getting ignored. In short, I guess it's the bitter sweet feel I get with it. That's why I come back every few months and play for a little while, or level another character. Always hoping they actually do something great. Bioware certainly have it in them despite EA's heavy hand.
  5. Hey guys, I have recently started playing again, leveling another character. I really like the leveling experience in SWTOR, which is a first me in MMOs. This post is mainly about the force using side of things. I always felt there was something missing. I have posted suggestions before which might be similar to this but I really wanted to try while it was fresh in my mind. 1) More Philosphy - I think there should have been more Light vs. Dark in SWTOR. It seemed more Empire vs Republic for most of it. That is fine for the classes like bounty hunter and trooper but I feel it should really have been a bit different for the force using classes. I was looking forward to more philosophy and discussion about the force while leveling. Instead it's really just through conversation options that you get dark and light side consequences. I really believe that could have been handled a bit better. I'm not saying it's bad by a long shot by the way. I really enjoyed the leveling experience. I just think that extra mile in relation to light vs dark could have made it really special. 2) Quests for force users - Well, I can give one example right away. Light Saber acquisition. When I received mine while leveling this time around it really hit me how lame it was. I felt that it would have been better if we had to actually go and get a crystal plus other parts and attune it to ourselves as happens in Star Wars lore. At the point of acquiring your personal crystal you get to chose what colour it is, or perhaps make one of your own with a colour palette. I realise the personalisation argument has been rehashed to death but I thought here it was poignant, as all Sith and Jedi have to go through this to make their iconic weapon. And I am really disappointed something like this wasn't implemented. The force is what stands star wars apart from all other sci-fi worlds and I really think it should have been concentrated on and expanded a bit more. Perhaps n the future?
  6. Wait a minute. For a start we don't really know what exactly is in this "expansion" yet. From everything I have read they are hyping it up to be huge but the actual facts are very hard to come by. An expansion is supposed to change the game. Just because there is a dev sitting behind his desk for 12 hours doesn't mean we should instantly just hand over any and all cash. I would like to see a proper expansion if they are going to do it, with physical copies and Storyline updates and huge sweeping changes with new just about everything. You can't just hype up a content patch by calling it an expansion and expect people to be happy about it. That's my fear: That this expansion will just give you enough stuff (Quests and Space missions) to hit 50 then just give you a new lot of dailies to chew on and max level. I want to see more information about this thing before making a decision, because these guys have a history now of not delivering. The reason I am here even bothering is because I actually want something like that in a game with huge potential and hope that the "Devs" are actually reading this. I think everyone should be thinking about this especially people saying stuff similar to the post I quoted here. The only way these guys are going to listen to us is if we vote with our hip pockets.
  7. You missed the whole point of what I was trying to say, fool. I don't play lottery and I am saying that these things shouldn't be in a game and truly I wasn't expecting it. I do agree with you it is my own silly fault for doing it but I certainly won't be doing it again. There are people out there who ARE doing it again though and still getting nothing. Hence the title of the thread by the OP. I put that example of mine in there for amusement, and also to illustrate that if you are going to spend any substantial amount of cash on these things to try and support the game you should definitely be receiving something decent which is what everyone expects. How about contributing something important next time instead of saying something useless and stupid?
  8. Hi there. I saw this thread and thought I would post. Firstly I would like to say that scaling players down so they will group with lower level characters won't work in the long run. Most people have complained about having to do the same old content over and over again. So this would last around a week I estimate until people got sick of it and stopped doing it again. What we could do instead is scale everyone in a guild group to the same level when doing all flashpoints. Then at the end you are given a list of adaptive gear or other funky stuff (Like mounts, pets, rare colour crystals etc..) that you can chose from so you have an incentive to keep coming back. Perhaps some rare stuff could be bind on legacy, other really rare stuff might actually scale with level. So you could start doing FPs when you are level one. and you would get rewarded with stuff still when you are level 50. I believe an incentive to do these kinds of things is absolutely essential. Imagine if the above was true of OPs too. You could play a level one character (Or perhaps starting at level ten would be best for these things) and do Operations right away with your guild mates. Some kind of gear scaling needs to take place sure but I like this idea for getting people involved and participating in guild events. Even having guild events at all. Secondly I would like to see guild teams. I have harped on about Pazaak and Swoop Racing in the past (Still can't believe they left these things out) But imagine having a guild group of three card players meeting up with three from another guild, playing on the space station bar listening to space jazz as an example. You have some sort of system where you all join an instance or something and it's the team that wins two out of three matches that takes the spoils. These rewards could change from season to season. Lastly, I think this game's strongest point is it's role playing aspect. Not enough of the Flashpoints expanded on this. I would have loved to see Flashpoints that didn't even have a level requirement, and had everyone in it needing to do a certain job to complete the thing for everyone. Like splitting up inside the Flashpoint and everyone had a task to do, or a person to convince or save as an example. Kind of like what we see in the Deceived trailer, everyone splitting up (kinda) to achieve an outcome. This way you don't need a tank/healer/dps (trinity) structure for your group. You can go in with anyone. Make these guild only FPs maybe. I would like to see some thinking out of the box with SWTOR. It's what I expected in the beginning and was a bit disappointed to see it was just another MMO clone. Not too late to change it though!
  9. You know I have had this uneasy feeling about these packs for ages and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Then I read this and BAM! there it is. They aren't like gambling, they ARE gambling. Don't know why the implications of this didn't hit me before, guess I have been in lala land with the holidays and for some reason the idea that this is a game sat in the forefront of my mind. I think that is why so many people have been upset by these things. It's because they didn't actually realise they were gambling, or perhaps the extent of it.
  10. She was using my credit card for nefarious purposes, reading my email/txts and other things we won't go into here. Be happy for me not sorry. No, saying that was to offer the point that perhaps I was wrong to spend 20 dollars on some cartel coins for a game, only to receive absolutely nothing for that expenditure. Left me with an interesting feeling, like I had just been ripped off. And also that perhaps she might have been right about the waste of money despite how I felt about it when I purchased them.
  11. I am a little bit confused on my feelings about this. I recently started playing again just to level another character. On the one hand It is only ten dollars. That isn't much. It is supposed to be a fairly large content update from what I can imagine, because imagination is the only thing I have to go on, there aren't many facts about this content update. But it seems fairly substantial. On the other hand why do I have this horrible sinking feeling in the very deepest recesses of my gullet? Could it be the Muffin and Coffee I had for lunch?? No. I bought some cartel coins (And boy did my partner go off when she found out about that.....She actually cancelled my account and sent EA a nasty message) because I wanted to support the game. Then opening those packs and getting absolutely nothing made me think perhaps my ex partner was correct. I just don't know. EA have sucked a lot of money out of me this last year and I have had some pretty crappy experiences. There comes a point where you just have to say enough is enough. I think I will wait to purchase this "expansion" and see what it's like first. If it's worth ten bucks then it will be worth twenty. But that little niggly feeling is telling me not to. I think this time I will listen to it and wait. *Edit* I think the poster above me touches on an excellent point. I hadn't played for two months and came back and they had this cartel shop with overpriced re-skinned models and lucky dip prizes. But the same old annoying bugs were still there. I think you guys at EA should really be taking a step back and before you start charging people for new content you should be fixing the game.
  12. ROFL, You don't get paid enough to face the hordes of angry mobs. This event has annoyed the *&^% out of me. We waited a very long time for this, and it turns out to be rubbish. Some people enjoyed it. I did not. None of my guild mates did. No one else I spoke to on my server did either. You seem to be saying that the current rewards will be it. I see. I had been hoping otherwise. Some things that would have fixed the united show of sheer annoyance would be: *Put some unique usable rewards in for gods sake. A 90% speeder, a pet that looks like other pets and some weapons most people can't use or aren't really up to date simply isn't good enough. The stuff had to be desirable. *Stop making quests that need to be completed by everyone, and have a single way of completing it for everyone. I sat there for a good length of time trying to get into a group for the laser quest in Grathan's compound, in fact that was so crap I am not even going to bother explaining it any more. Awful. Stupid. *kindly stop angering your player base. A simple way of doing this would be to up the rewards. (A unique 110% speeder, a unique colour crystal(Hell, even a hard to get colour with +41 stats) perhaps a pet that was unique. Some other stuff most people could use. In fact I have said all this stuff before Ad-Nauseum, as have many other people if you didn't listen or care then you sure aren't going to now. Look I'm sorry we waited for this for a loooong time. If you are going to start having events every 2 weeks / month sure. But 4-5 months between each one and then saying HOHOHO you have to wait for the next one because we tricked you into believing this would be great, maybe the next one will be!!? Perhaps you should hire some more personel if you are pumped for time? Oh sorry you fired tons of workers already. My mistake. No, Thank you very much. *Does best Yoda impersonation* No money more of mine get will you! MMmhhMMM!
  13. ROFL I come to these forums a fair bit. It's in the vain hope to find intelligent well thought out discussion on the game and hopefully one day we might get participation from someone at BioWare, and hence improve said game over and above what it is now. Instead there are just innumerable posts like this one. *MOAN MOAN SWTOR IS DYING MOAN OMG F2P MOAN WHINE* You should believe everything you read on the internet you know Darthwoad. Because it's all true, especially this. Also you should link every small piece of garbage ... I mean.. valuable tidbit of information you find in the main forums. This pile of tripe.. I mean.. "article" you found isn't a complete load of utter slimy dooky at all. Oh no. Because this post really helps us and the community of this game and encourages discussion about the game. I'm not annoyed you wasted my time at all. I'm done here. Hopefully the administrators of this forum actually step in and start deleting garbage posts like this because there are already tons of them. They close everything else why not this spam?
  14. Oh yes... I am extremely keen on this one. Piqued my interest for sure. Can't wait.
