  1. For me - some aspects of SWTOR are great - and others are a miss - hard to give the game an average for the entire content - however: I am exclusively a PVE player - so I can't comment on the PVP side at all Story lines and voice 10 Social - lack of a good home city 2 Lack of simple macros for targetting, following, mouseovers for heals, poor display of debuffs 2 Graphics, animations. smoothness 9 Transport and ease of helping others 1 Trades and "passive" style activities to to - like fishing and cooking 2 Raiding (ops) design - think you should have nothing less than 20 man groups to stop cliques and force guilds to seek numbers and be fair to people 2
  2. Never ever want to see PVE players ever be forced to PVP At least - not until they make the equipment and play style of PVP the same as PVE and effectively cut all all the stuns and freezes on players (not npcs) I choose not to PVP because I focus my game style and equipment on PVE style - and there is no way I am going to attempt to play PVP as well as it is essentially a different game
  3. People comment on a game being "too easy" or "not enough end game", "poor graphics" and so it goes on.. For me - the biggest pain in this game is simply getting around it - it's just plain boring doing the same thing of boarding the ship. running thro the space port and all the rest of those things - again and again And trying to get somewhere to help people and socialise is a pain I like the story lines and questing, and even the trades to some extent But there does not seem enough variety in the activites you can do in the game - I used to love the cooking, fishing and other trades Also - I miss the atmosphere of a capital city - I think fleet is just a horrible place to be Some day - someone will come up with a mmorpg that will truly mimic a lot more things that exist in real life - and do it well
  4. I think the minimum size for ops should be 20 I think the smaller numbers of 8 allows small cliques to develop in a guild and it can be difficult for other players to get a raiding place Sure - the smaller numbers favours a tight knit group - but I really wonder if it helps other players stay in the game? It does mean that the Ops group has to be really tight and they can't afford to carry anyone to gear them up I don't think the smaller Ops groups help promote the help and team spirit that can come into a guild when people have to work with others and help them gear up and get quests completed
  5. Rift got it right - and it certainly was not chaotic - in fact it worked brilliantly All transfers free - allowed once a week Could not transfer to "full" servers - unless: you already had a max level character on that server
  6. On my server there seems to be the same number (on fleet anyway) of Imp and Rep However, I have noticed (up to level 32 anyway) the Imp side seems to be a lot better developed on tattooine, balmorra and alderaan, and certainly the zones appeared to look a lot better - I will have to wait and see for the higher planets
  7. I don't think MMOs are finished - I think developers need to design a game to assist grouping and social interaction A game with a great home city and player housing could be a start Easy transport after you have explored is a good idea It needs to cover as many aspects of a game as possible - crafting, pvp and pve
  8. SWTOR seems to lack a community feel in the game structure itself - towns and villages I would love to have a home planet, and city laid out in an imaginative way, instead of going to fleet (which it be blunt I think is horrible) Just it would be nice to have some real "eye candy" while doing trades And a sense of belonging too A quick travel point to it would be nice Maybe some player housing similar to our ships Perhaps an opposite faction base - for those pvpers out there Maybe a number of different level zones
  9. Basically just doing the class quests and the main quest lines in a zone, I am finishing up maybe two levels above the zone when I finish - I do move in straight lines tho and kill everything in my way that's without doing any PVP, heroics areas, bonus quests or flashpoints I can imagine that people who do those things would be probably about 4 or 5 levels above the zone when they leave
  10. I would like to see two new home planets - one for each faction Be great to have a home city on each - with all the content of the fleet, and to have a quick travel point to it from anywhere Just for me - at present - Fleet has no "home" atmosphere at all - to be blunt its a horrible place to be A home planet could have the options of player housing - similar to the current ships Some different level zones could be included too For thos pvp types out there - maybe an outpost of the other faction could be included with some contested zones At present - SWTOR does not seem to have a community feel about it at all - with towns and cities
  11. I think this game is really suited to casual players like me I have several level 50s and a string of alts on both factions I have fun with all the trades and gearing up my alts Although I do some dailies on my 50s I am not going to bust myself getting into an ops group unless I can be with a nice relaxed group of people (been there, done that with end game gear grinding in other mmos) I still see people pushing hard to get all the end game gear and do all the hard modes (I am in a large guild) - but I am more than happy to see them struggle away Sure I would like to see things improved - but I have a lot of story lines to go yet and I want to see them all
  12. Having played Rift up to raiding the last instance - I agree with most of the OP's comments I am still enjoying playing SWTOR - I basically got bored with Rift as there was not a lot to do other than raid in the finish - because I had levelled and raided on both factions, and just grinding endgame gear - does not have a lot of immersion for me However - the Rift devs did a great job with setting up the game's UI from the start - similar to what we now have in SWTOR In addition, Rift had simple macros that allowed to set targets and follow commands and of course Rift had home cities - I miss that in SWTOR, and a great transport system to anywhere in the games - which SWTOR urgently needs And LFG and automatic transport to instances - did get us grouping up very early in the game - it was great
  13. OK - I love the game - but somewhere it misses - things I have been thinking about: Capital City - fleet does not have atmosphere for me - in fact I think it's horrible - be nice to have a capital city instead, with housing, the lot, and a sense of belonging (and really nice to look at!) A quick travel point to it would be great Transport is a major issue and pain in this game quick travel points could work to anywhere from anywhere Groups could have a teleporter to bring the rest of the group to an instance, or near heroic 4s and 2s - or people can get ported into an instance when one goes in the ops portals could be placed on location on the planets Been said - free transfers once a week, and a X server lfg and ops group (and no - it did not mess up wow - people are just how you find them - some nice and some not so nice)
  14. As I said earlier - Rift allowed free transfers a week apart - of course you could not transfer to a server that was "full" unless you already had a high level character there And it did work really well - I think that if you have never seen this in action for real - it's pretty hard to theorise on what is going to happen
  15. Love the stories and the questing Even the crafting just for the fun of making items I can use on companions Although I am in a large guild - it seems to me that people don't group as much or socialise to the extent of other mmos I have played Suggestion: transport seems a major issue - be able to quick travel to any point in the game! provided you have been there Automatically transported into an instance as your group goes in (like Rift has it) And yes - a cross server lfg - and no it did not mess up wow - people were like that anyway
