  1. If the shoe fits.... I wouldn't think my view on casuals would be insulting unless I hit the nail on the head. Are you a former melee hunter? And if my post doesn't describe you, then I don't really consider you a casual. This is after all a thread asking what defines a casual to all of us. Not just to laylla.
  2. I always picture casuals as those people who can't be bothered to figure out how to play their class to it's fullest. The melee hunters who we're not the boss of who can play the way they want to play because they're paying for their own subscription! The people who never, ever figure out what's actually happening during boss fights and who always end up dead on the floor from sitting in fire, and yet still expect to get their purps like everyone else. The people who are itemized wrong, who're using the wrong gear, who have the wrong specs, and who use the wrong skills in the wrong orders.
  3. Would have been worth it if the game was halfway decent. So yeah... I feel ripped off. meh
  4. After having a couple quests not give me the option of doing the bonus after doing some quest objective I just finally started ignoring any sort of quest objectives the second I got a bonus objective to do. Kinda sucked for those times when the objective was something stupid like the same old kill X mobs, so you stop doing the quest to farm X mobs, and then you discover that further along in the quest you have more then enough of X mobs to get through to do the bonus 10 times over. But if you don't do that, if you assume you'll get the x mobs along the way, that's when you'll click on some quest objective and BAM it'll complete and you'll never get the chance to finish the bonus.
  5. From the reviews I've seen, a good chunk of the 300m spent on swtor went to buying off reviewers. None of them have anything critical to say at all (not negative, critical). It's all just glowing praise. From the paid reviews you'd think this game was the second coming or something.
  6. wow kept me around off and on for 5 years. Swtor less then 2 months. this game is boring and there is nothing to do.
  7. well. I'll /sign this thread before my subscription runs out. After awhile you start to really hate the airlock and orbital station don't you. I'm the freaking bar'senthor (or however you spell that stupid title). Jedi master with an army at my back and sith bodies at my feet. If I want to land directly on the planet I'm going to land directly on the planet and whatever governor or customs officer or whatever that wants me to land at their stupid orbital station can have a lightsaber up the ***.
  8. I must admit I look forward to hearing about the gnashing of teeth that will happen if they ever do implement a proper ui and let you guys have mods. Considering the state of everything else in the game I highly doubt any of the damage specs are anywhere near eachother in terms of sustained dps in real encounters.
  9. I find myself thinking the legacy system is going to be forgotten and ignored the way hero classes were in wow.
  10. What I find staggering is how after all the work they put into the voice acting, they didn't tape out like 100 different little speeches for each companion (and for our characters as well). C2-N2 wouldn't be anywhere near as annoying if he didn't repeat the same 3 or 4 sayings constantly. If he actually had a large enough bank of voice files we might not feel like tearing our own ears out each time we enter our ship. Ditto for our other pets and the handful of little quotes they say constantly while out in the world. Or our own character in response to various dialogue choices.
  11. Healers are supposed to be unkillable 1v1.
  12. I remember that quest chain. The apprentice was bad enough, but I couldn't actually kill the master dude fast enough to complete it. I did manage to kill him... but by the time I had done so the quest had reset back to "push the button to summon the dude!" or whatever it was. I came back later when it was grey to finish it.
  13. Considering how terribad the pet ai is in this game (how they managed to make their pets even dumber then wow pets I don't know, but they did) I think this would probably be doomed to fail. Or beyond the pet ai, can you imagine taking an elevator with 3 pets out? Or how often you'd have to stop and wait or resummon a pet because it got stuck on a piece of terrain? The inherent weakness of tank pets would make the content built for this incredibly toned down as well. Which would mean a player tank + healpet + 2 dps would absolutely murder it.
  14. I don't really think there's less content. It's just more efficiently placed. The bounty hunter starting planet had 2 or 3 heroic quests compared to tython or ord mandels 1. It also has 3 champion mobs to find compared to alliance sides one on ord and two on tython. But even if it is less content... do we really care if there's fewer "kill 50 bears and bring me their asses!" types quests? Isn't that a good thing to have less of those?
  15. The only thing that swtor did better then wow was the story from 1-50. Unfortunately for us that's it. Outside of the story there's little to do. Nothing to see, nothing to do. Once you've finished your class story you're pretty much done the game. swtor woulda made an ok (if short) single player game with very little replay value. It's not a very good mmo.
  16. Yes it isn't working right HOWEVER... there is a way around this. Instead of just unbinding the key, rebind it to something else. Like I rebound \ to mapfade. If you just unbind it it will still open and cover your screen in worthless CS garbage, however if you rebind it to something like mapfade you'll never notice when you accidentally hit it.
  17. haha, I remember that exact series of "quests" and thinking *** as well. The planets which make you zone through an airlock and then a orbital station before getting to the actual planet got old right around that point in the class quest. I still made it through and all the way to 50... but I also unsubbed at that point because at 50 you don't even have pointless travel to look forward to doing since there's nothing to do at endgame.
  18. Considering swtor is easier and faster leveling and much easier content I really fail to see your reasoning.
  19. Considering my server went from que's every night, to no ques ever (not even on weekends), and I havn't seen an instanced world (ie multiple zone instances) since the opening week either, oh and the economy is broken due to lack of participation (search for a resource and you're lucky if there's 1 or 2 units up), and the server itself never shows high population anymore, and of the three people I met and liked enough to /friend during my leveling 2 quit before the free month was up.... I'd guess they're losing subs. Not gaining em. The lack of anything to do at 50, nothing to grind, nothing to see, no achievements to work toward, and broken and uninspired crafting only compound that feeling. Oh and I won't be around past the 2nd month so that's another -1 to subs. /shrug
  20. lvl 49 purple augments go for tons of money. (on my server anyways) the greens and blues... not so much.
  21. I won't be doing anything since I only have 6 days left on my account. too little. too late.
  22. /sign Major annoyance to have to guesstimate what the actual area of an AoE is, and I'm sure most noobs don't even realize they usually extend far beyond the reticule till later levels.
