  1. I have done all flashpoints from Hammer Station to Taral V so far via the group finder tool. The longest wait was for Taral V but then after giving up and relogging it popped instantly for me on the next try. It's all luck of the draw, perhaps folks on your server simply don't use it for whatever reason, or that was just an unlucky time to try your luck. Fingers crossed that they avoid the cross-server problems, at least until the newly packed destination servers start to die off in population. If you're not having any luck with the group finder tool, try again another time, or remember that anyone on your ignore lists/that has you on ignore won't be matched up with you. Maybe remove some of the folks from ignore and see if it makes a difference. If somehow you have wound up on the ignore list of many people for whatever reason, the group finder will indeed be a pretty useless thing.\ PS I left a level 29 legacy to play on a level 10 legacy simply because i knew once the group finder tool came into play, there was no point staying on my original destination server as the population was still too small to support it. They only transferred 3 servers into one, so the numbers are better than the wasteland that the server was, but nowhere near what we all see on the servers that have queues and constantly 400+ people in fleet at prime.
  2. Well, the Group Finder supposedly won't hook you up with anyone on your ignore list, so hopefully people that ninja will end up ignored and unable to find anyone to group with. Bring on being able to ignore someone's whole account and I'd be even happier =)
  3. You're entirely correct, it may simply be either a user error or a glitch and they didn't realize they were queued as tanks. if that was the case they could admit it and we'd wait while they respecced, or bow out and let us replace them with another tank. I hadn't thought of that and thank you for pointing it out, i will try to be more patient in future when the tank seems to be unaware he's supposed to be tanking. Maybe you're right and he went with default settings expecting to dps and isn't really aware he's tank.
  4. As a healer, I did five flashpoints with the tool, and 4 ended successfully and I bailed on one. One was a near failure as the 'tank' person was (a) not tank specced (b) had bad gear © was clueless, but luckily one of the dps was a dps vanguard who took over tanking and we succeeded, even carrying the useless tank role person. The one group I left was again due to a 'tank' showing up in bad gear, in a dps spec, and not knowing how to tank. He even left us hanging after the first wipe while he respecced as a tank (didn't have field respec) without even telling us why we were waiting. On arrival he then proceeded to 'stink up the joint' and the dps and heals (me) ended up still tanking until we wiped twice more and I left. People have to learn to not queue for a role they are not fully PREPARED to fill, in terms of spec, gear and hopefully at least a little experience in that role. Luckily no ninja looting problems yet, but I think people have read the fine print and see that they will never be grouped with anyone on their ignore list or vice versa, and have seen there are actual consequences to being a total jerk. I do agree that cross-server queuing would not help with the queue times unless you are on a badly managed transfer server (west coast rp comes to mind where they only merged 3 servers). All it would do was promote ******tery, ninjaing and anonymous abuse of other players. The only reason it worked in warcraft was you could ignore the person's whole account. You cannot do that in swtor so the abuse would be rampant.
  5. On my 24 Commando I cannot select any Flashpoints at all, and none are automatically selected. Not grouped, have dropped/retaken/dropped again all Flashpoints available. Any suggestions? Going to try relogging now to see if that fixes it. EDIT: Restarting the game fixed it (after I had dropped all missions except the dailies)
  6. Having time on your hands to post something like that = First World Problem
  7. Yes the actual quote is: "You are not required to move when transfers become available; it's your choice if you'd like to stay on your server." I don't see any promises about actually keeping those servers open =( Sorry, guess i am old and jaded but unless they specifically state that the origin servers are going to remain running, I'll be expecting closures. Hope I am wrong, for your sake!
  8. I'm sorry but I can't see them footing the bill for underutilized servers when they are desperately trying to keep things profitable and enjoyable for the main playerbase who want to be on servers with other people. I think it extremely likely that you'll see server closures for the origin servers once the free transfers are complete. Granted, i like smaller servers and communities myself, but sometimes you just have to take one for the team and transfer with everyone else.
  9. I hate to agree, but there's still people eagerly waiting to get off their dead servers. Just because my characters were all on the servers already addressed doesn't mean that those waiting don't have my support and sympathy. I'm sorry they didn't get around to you before the weekend break =( There aren't *that* many servers left untouched.
  10. Yeah i guess at this point I'd be happy if they turned the RP servers into normal PVE servers and transferred a bunch of PVEs in. But that's me, I want a healthy server above all, i guess. RP can continue, RP server designation or PVE. But with insufficient bodies... I figure they'll end up transferring us somewhere eventually.
  11. My main legacy is now on the new RP-West destination server Begeren Colony, and the numbers are increasing there, but nowhere near the rate of my other legacy's PVE destination server (The Harbinger). For instance, this morning there are 25 people on Fleet at Begeren Colony, while there are over 130 on fleet on The Harbinger. I am guessing the population density the devs are seeking is more in line with The Harbinger rather than Begeren Colony. The problem is there are no more RP-West servers to absorb, so I wonder what will happen to reach the desired server population density. I can only see a few possibilities: 1) Send folks from all the RP servers to one big NA superserver. Not fun for me personally as it would probably be an East Coast RP superserver and we'd all potentially lose our names again. (I predict Ebon Hawk) 2) Merge Begeren Colony into a west Coast PVE superserver and lose the RP designation. RP would survive in RP guilds for those that want it, but again, would upset a lot of people who signed on for an RP server to begin with. Also, another transfer means potential loss of names a second time. 3) Leave Begeren Colony with 'Light' population and possibly watch it die to attrition again. The numbers looked decent at prime hours last night - around 130 - but that's what the PVE superservers look like at 9 am in the morning ~ I am loving the transfer idea, it's working very well for the PVE and PVP servers. We're seeing nice population densities arising already. For RP servers though... we really need to absorb more servers from *somewhere* to achieve that density, or live in fear of being absorbed again when our numbers aren't up to par. Granted, some folk I have talked to on Begeren Colony *like* the smaller population, and I can understand that. I just know that I personally will go to The Harbinger and work on my level 8 legacy there rather than stick with my level 28 legacy on Begeren Colony if it means being stuck with 1/5th the population to play with that I'd see in The Harbinger. I speak for nobody but myself and am sure lots will disagree and like it how it is. I just think that the devs have certain densities in mind so right now, I fear for the future of Begeren.
  12. You'll have to bring anything you want with your on a character or characters. There's is no cross-realm mail. Not sure if it's ever been planned but who knows - just not right now.
  13. Well, this way at least you have the appearance of having a choice in the matter, whereas a full out forced merger looks really bad in the press. You say tomato, I say tomahto. I personally am quite happy they are doing something to address the very low server population numbers, and I think this is probably the least damaging/invasive way to do it, at least in terms of the least negative feedback and press. Imagine the uproar from the playerbase if you were literally forced onto another server today. I personally think it would be pointless to stay on a server that they are allowing free transfers off of, as it would become even more of a ghost town and will probably due for closure at some point in the not so distant future. This is all guesswork, of course.
  14. My main server was on the 2nd wave of transfers today and I lost 2 of 8 names, 1 being my main character. The alternative? Hanging around on an extremely empty server where most people either don't play anymore or have transferred off until the devs decide to just shut it down and/or force all remaining characters onto another random server. I wouldn't kid myself, the servers listed as origin servers *are* going to be quite empty, and I feel there should be some sort of a warning for any new players to *not* roll characters there. I don't see a very long life expectancy for servers they are letting you transfer away from.
  15. Transferred 8 characters one at a time from Lord Ieldis --> Begeren Colony with a minor hitch on the 8th only, a bug which should now be fixed. I guess I was in the early transfers as after 7 transferred the 8th did not as Bergeren Colony erroneously thought I had 8 chars when I only had 7. This was addressed in a workaround post but i figured it out anyway. Created an 8th throwaway character on the destination server, played it, deleted it and then was able to transfer the last character. You probably won't have to worry about this as I think they quashed this bug. Of the 8, 2 had to be renamed as they had popular names. One was my main that started my original legacy, and one was a low level mule alt, but that's okay. I didn't expect to keep as many names as I did, so I was happy enough. You also get to redo your legacy name, which was good for me as I wasn't overly fond of my original choice anyway. Same rule applies, if it's already taken you'll have to think up a new one. All legacy unlocks working perfectly after picking a name for my legacy. All in all I am very impressed at the smoothness of the process, each character transferred almost instantaneously.
  16. Turns out I had some characters on an eligible server for this first round of transfers to see how it works at least. Good job on getting things moving! This will be a test transfer from one server I stopped playing early on as it seemed empty (Soresu) to one I rolled a few chars on when it seemed popular but never progressed far (The Harbinger). I sent one level 11 character with the same name as one on the destination server just see how the transfer process works, as well as the forced renaming procedure for a taken name. If folks care, I'll post the results. Thumbs up though that at least the transfer is from one PVE West Coast server to another PVE West Coast server. I was worried they'd stuff us all on East Coast servers or something!
  17. Fingers crossed here. Whether the server I have my legacy on gets a flood of transfers, or we all pack our bags and head for a different server, it will be nice to have more people to play with!
  18. Yes! I have seen this, but only on my body type 3 (steroid junkie) twi'lek smuggler. When he leans against the box to bluff along with Syreena, I always used to exit that cutscene stuck to the box and have to fast travel out of it. I think they fixed that one in 1.1, but thanks for the heads up that there will be others along the way!
