  1. Thank you. I spend 30 minutes running in circles. not a fan of the new galaxy map
  2. As usual I am jumping from one spec to the other over and over again, trying mainly to Tank PvE. Currently I am trying a full Defense Tank Spec and been doing it both with and without Courage, and just don't seem to find any difference between having it and not having it. So, do you guys put points in Courage or no? why?
  3. In PvP it is quite useful In PvE it is pointless. I don't use Force Push at all save to throw people off ledges and laugh maniacally.
  4. You are right. Luckily for me I love robes
  5. Focused Defense Instant Cooldown: 45s Immediately reduces threat by a moderate amount. For 10 seconds, taking damage spends 1 Focus to heal you for 3% of your maximum health and reduce threat by a low amount. This effect cannot occur more than once every second. This ability can be used while stunned or otherwise controlled. We got this as part of 1.2, apparently to fix the Jedi Knight survivability issues First it reduces our threat, which is not a good thing at all. Then it reduces our focus generation which is bad too and in exchange for that it heals us a 3% each time we take damage, which isn't what I would call a good trade-off. Is there something I am not seeing or it is as I suspect completely worthless for a tank?
  6. So this seems to be a good PvP talent, or at least better than the alternative. But I think in PvE were getting chain rooted is unheard of it is better to take the DoT.
  7. -_- that ruins everything I did. Oh well...back to the spreadsheet.
  8. Mmmmhhh... I see your points. This requires further study. I'll get back to you after retrying my specs. but No Unremitting is not of my liking
  9. I keep saying Pommel Strike and Opportune Strike should be merged
  10. I agree focus generation is better in Full Defense than in Hybrid. No questions there. But Focus generation in Hybrid isn't trash. It is SOLID. I never find myself starved of of Focus as you suggest running my Hybrid. Why do you claim Sweeps do NOT make a difference in AoE threat generation? Sounds illogical. Please explain. You get Free Sweeps with Effluence. How often does Courage gives you free Sweeps? Yes, Guardian Slash is only 15 seconds cooldown, I stand corrected. Sorry. Still not as sexy as a 9 seconds cooldown with more damage. I am unsure if the increased threat generation of Guardian Slash overcomes the increased damage of Overhand Slash. Anyways I don't feel single target threat generation is an issue. The mitigation of the Hybrid is not JUST Commanding Awe. It also includes Unremitting (20% less damage for 4 seconds at the start of the fight), and you can keep Blade Barricade and Blade Barrier in Hybrid. The only mitigation talent you miss outright in Hybrid is Shield Specialization and I find Commanding Awe much better. Yes, Hybrid is made to tank trash mobs..for a reason. Tanking bosses has never been a problem. It is what we (Jedi Guardians) do best. You can tank a boss without struggling being Hybrid and facerolling when being a Full Defense. It is trash what gives problems, at least to ME. The Hybrid does better on trash without losing too much against bosses. But now you have made me doubt about the AoE threat generation. Assuming that as you say Courage often(???) make Sweeps free anyway, the question would be if not having Cyclonic Sweeps means less Cyclonic Slashes. If you take the three points in Cyclonic Sweeps your Soresu form will be generation one Focus every 3 seconds as opposed to one Focus every six. Let me show a typical Hybrid rotation against a group of mobs. I will put the second of combat, the move and then in brackets the amount of Focus you should have. I use either Blade Storm or Overhead Slash interchangeably. This is the talent build Hybrid 0 Saber Throw (2 Focus) 1.5 Force Leap (4 Focus) ---- You can hit a Challenging Call here if you think you need it. Usually not needed --- 3 Force Sweep (5 Focus) 1 more focus because by this time you have been surely been hit and Soresu has proced. From this moment Soresu will give us one more focus every 6 seconds 4.5 Cyclonic Slash (2 Focus) 6 Blade Storm (2 Focus) Free Thanks to Momentum 7.5 Force Stasis (2 Focus) Unchanneled thanks to Stasis Mastery 9 Sundering Strike (5 Focus) Stasis second tick 10.5 Master Strike (6 Focus) Stasis third tick 12 Master Strike cont. (7 Focus) Soresu Proc 13.5 Cyclonic Slash (4 Focus) 15 Force Sweep (4 Focus) It is a 12 seconds cooldown if you took Swelling Winds 16.5 Overhead Slash (0 Focus) 18 Sundering Strike (3 Focus) Soresu Proc 19.5 Cyclonic Slash (0 Focus) --- Hit Combat Focus --- (6 Focus) Is using Combat Focus focus starved? 21 Sundering Strike (8 Focus) 22.5 Cyclonic Slash (5 Focus) 24 Sundering Strike (8 Focus) Soresu Proc 25.5 Cyclonic Slash (5 Focus) 27 Force Sweep (5 Focus) 28.5 Overhead Slash (1 Focus) 30 Sundering Strike (4 Focus) Soresu Proc 31.5 Cyclonic Slash (1 Focus) 33 Sundering Strike (3 Focus) 34.5 Cyclonic Slash (0 Focus) 36 Sundering Strike ( 3 Focus) Soresu Proc 37 Cyclonic Slash (0 Focus) 38.5 Sundering Strike (2 Focus) 39 Force Sweep (2 Focus) 41.5 Sundering Strike (4 Focus) 42 Overhead Slash (1 Focus) Soresu Proc 43.5 Sundering Strike (3 Focus) 45 Cyclonic Slash (0 Focus) 46.5 Sundering Strike (2 Focus) 48 Slash (5 Focus) Soresu Proc 49.5 Overhead Slash (1 Focus) 51 Sundering Strike (3 Focus) 52.5 Force Sweep (3 Focus) 54 Sundering Strike (6 Focus) Soresu Proc 55.5 Cyclonic Slash (3 Focus) 57 Sundering Strike (5 Focus) 58.5 Cyclonic Slash (2 Focus) 60 Sundering Strike (5 Focus) Soresu Proc I know this rotation may be delayed if you hit Ripostes and other abilities like Pommel Stirkes, etc... Is that Focus Starved? Was my hypothetical rotation not long enough to reach the starvation point? Can anyone show me how a full defense that stacks more Cyclonic Slashes? Maybe this should go in another thread.
  11. I agree it is a broken system. Taunt shouldn't work like that and we should be able to hold aggro by our own skills. Alas it is not. Until the patch that fix this comes, Taunt on CD makes our job easy and there is no reason not to use it... unless you want more challenge.
  12. This is simply not true. Focus generation in Soresu using hybrid is solid + you got FREE Sweeps There is no way to use Hilt Strike and Guardian Slash more often than Overhand Slash because of a simple reason: Overhand Slash cooldown is 9 seconds. Hilt strike and Guardian Slash are 60 seconds. Holding aggro for a single target has never been an issue Hybrid or full Defense. Holding aggro for multiple targets is the pain in our cute Jedi Guardian asses. In my personal experience this is easier to do with the hybrid build. I keep hearing Blade Barrier is pure trash by the guys who actually do the math, why you believe it is worth investing points in it.
  13. I have found Jedi Guardian to be the most difficult class to level. Probably that's why I have decide it to make it my main. My suggestion is go full Vigilance till Overhead Slash. Ignore Shien, stick to Soresu... and ENDURE the pain. Eventually you will get DOC and things will become way easier.
  14. Like many others have said in this forum I feel Unremitting should be in the defense tree... I cannot play without this talent and is the main reason why I go Hybrid. To make up for the two threat builders (I guess you mean Hilt Strike and Guardian Slash) the option is to go deeper on the Vigilance tree and take Overhead Slash, with the Vigilance talent it becomes a 9 seconds cooldown and becomes a good threat builder. Going deep in Vigilance also allows you to have free Sweeps, which is great for AoE threat generation. Single target threat generation shouldn't be a problems since you can always re-taunt your targets.
  15. This is an interesting piece of information, could you tell us more? Then again I do not use Blade Barrier to tank as I find the damage it absorbs negligible and prefer to spend my talents elsewhere.
