  1. i hope they won't change a single bit, i started a sent just as a simple alt to see some republic and try a knight/warrior type, and i ended up ditching a lvl 50 sorc and operative for this class just because of how go***mn fun it is^^ edit: also, it kicks some serious a**
  2. i beg to differ. World PvP has not ever been about ZvZ. In DAOC, on my server (US, Lancelot) the 8v8 scene was VERY strong, for quite a long period of time the majority of people roamed in groups of 8 (1 full group), some defied the rules and rolled 2 FGs, usually to get stomped by a superior 8men, or great 8men going and busting the zerg. There was an honor code most groups stuck to, even if it was 3 realms, if there was an ongoing fight between 2 groups, /most/ of the groups would not add to the fight and let the battle go. Heck, i remember several occasion when my gank (midgard at the time) was in a fight with another guild and then 1 or 2 groups of the 3rd realm added the fight (or *** jammed, as we called it) and the 2 original groups fought side by side to stomp on the adders. Zerging was usually condemned and pointed at, and since at times bragging rights were pretty much everything for dedicated PvPers, well, it worked. Or in WAR, my guild on karak eight peaks, and several others, ran very small numbers, and went zerg busting or engaged in pretty epic 6v6 fights. Altough we were a minorities, since most people wanted their shiny item and prefeared zerging empty keeps and such, or have massive laggy battles randomly mashing buttons. But, well, they wanted the incentive (gear) and that was the most efficient way to get it. Screw the fun. AION, rolled in small group, got bored really fast tho so i can't speak. Rift... pretty much not ow PVP untill i got bored and quit. GW, no open PvP, no gear to take advantage from, best PvP ever xD and that sums up my experience with MMOs, never played WoW >_> truth is, bad players need the gear advantage to take on decent players, when even that fails, it's time to start calling for nerfs indeed
  3. well, call me old school, but i PvP for the fun of it, not for the gear, and it's terrible for me having to go the other way around, needing gear (at least some) to have fun in pvp. Problem is the playerbase, apparently 99% of the people need an "incentive" to pvp. TBH all the incentive i ever needed in a dozen years of online gaming is to kick some other guy's *ss. Oh, and bragging rights. The good old times.
  4. inquisitor's story is pretty damn great IMO. The characters are very well made, and you'll have always someone that will make you go "omg i wanna *********** kill him". And you usually get to do just that. Also, you grow in power. To over 9000 levels. Also, THE SILENCER.
  5. I have a 50 sorc and a 50 operative (the latter shared with my brother). Been slowly leveling a sentinel since a couple weeks ago, currently it's level 36. I originally didn't even consider melee dps classes because i assumed (wrongly) they were the least challenging and complex. Wrong. The class is a blast to play, and it's gonna be my new main for sure. Just so much more fun compared to sorc and lolOP. I shudder to think what it will be like getting some pvp gear on par with my imperial chars with the upcoming changes but oh well, gonna be worth it. That said. Sentinel solo PvE, my experience so far. Watchmen spec. Pretty damn good, way faster than OP for sure, and on par with sorc up to this level (but i used a pvp build from the start there which really isn't that good pve wise for sorc untill late 30's i'd say). You just gotta realize you don't have to "save" your defensive cooldowns, you don't have to f**k up, and you don't have to rec to full HP to engage. In fact, if you're annihilation and have 30 centering, you can go into a pack or a strong+trash with half HP no problem. Bosses so far have been a cakewalk, you just gotta remember to interrupt them because some have some really nast casts/channeled Once you get Doc, you have no downtime (but slower killing, significantly. I still prefear it because i HATE waiting to recover, even if it's after 5-6 pulls). Sweet. I really don't understand the complains tbh. You just can't go button mashing, you gotta know what you have to do. Play your abilities right and you can do a trash pack/2 strong/an elite finishing with a full health bar no problem, play them wrong and you'll finish with 30% health and will have to rec. PVP wise, i absolutely demolish anyone 1v1 (except snipers, those can hurt me for real if played right it seems ), often 1v2 with certain class combos, and overall i feel i'm very effective. It can be painful at times if your team is mostly range based and you're the only melee guy going into the fray, or if there's no heals. Once you get force camo tho.... a whole other PvP experience, gamechanging. You're way more team dependant than other ACs tho. If your team sucks, with a stealther/ranged class you can still do good, with a sentinel, you're gonna feel the pain more. On the contrary, if your team's any good, you're gonna shine.
  6. most people going around alone in a WZ are just going back to the fight after a death. again with the stupid attitude of thinking every single person in the game has to save his CC breaker for an operative. way to go bro. i'm sorry, how is chaining CC a sign of a player being good? it's an elementary rotation a blind monkey with 1 hand could pull off. Same goes for taking on the lone guy instead of that other one in the middle of a pack, it's called not being idiots. this is the kind of posts that makes our class hated, self proclaimed PvP pros shamelessly defending obvious design flaws that just gives us an insane advantage. Let's face it, it's even worse than before for other guys now, it's either they have CC breaker available or they're cannon fodder.
  7. Uhm.... to me it seems that you're not really using the focus tree to your advantage with sweeps placed where you place them in your rotation... ... i think you should go watchman, fits your playstyle (as far as i can guess from what you wrote) better
  8. rrrrite. so i guess your healers don't have a CD on their cleanse either, so good they are, and i guess they're so good they can direct their dispel exactly at that specific OP's dot rather than to the other dozen of effects rolling. it is a FACT that a gcd is better spent healing rather than dispelling in the great majority of cases. but let's do some math shall we. Dispelling a DOT would negate how much of the OP's damage: 1-2 tick before he realizes he has to reapply? that's negligible damage. 1 part of cull's bonus damage? Even considering all this, it doesn't even come close to the amount of health i can restore in 1 GCD if i heal instead of cleanse. And this, especially considering when there are other ways to negate enemy's dps, way more efficient than cleansing a dot, namely, CC. In case you missed it in my previous posts, i'm talking about this from a healer's perspective, since when on my sorc i pretty much only heal. Oh, also, about the "bad player" thing... i was in a top 10 guild world wide in GW, i guess people really must have gotten better in this last couple years That said, cheers, office time's over, leaving my desk and forums debate for today xD ps the "your argument is invalid" was clearly a joke, but i'll explain it better, since you missed it it seems: you said aoe snare is game deciding only in hutball, i say you're imperial, thus you play hutball the most. got it? wasn't that hard >_>
  9. LOL because you think a healer has the time to take a look at the crapload of tiny icons on a friendly target to see if there's some leth OP dots rolling, while keeping an eye on the mini watching health, and the other eye on the screen to see if anyone even just looks like he's about to beging to think to come and spank you? you sir are delusional. Not to mention that i'd rather drop a 5k heal (1.4 sec cast time after resurgence) anyway rather than dispell something (and with the bazillion effects on a guy it's not even remotely certain you're gonna dispell them). I'd rather have a tank punt the OP away and prevent the cull, which can be said for ANY melee dps. aoe snare is awesome in alderaan too, drop it on those 2-3 meleers chasing your healer and you saved his ***, drop it on their guys kiting and you guaranteed kills. On both /alderaan/voidstar corrosive grenade pretty much means no one's gonna plant/defuse the bomb/cap the point, the only stuff that comes close to that level of effectiveness is sniper's plasma probe (i think it's called, the GTAOE dot probe in eng tree if i remember right). THAT is the stuff that wins games mate. also, you're IMP, you play hutball 80% of the time, so your argument is invalid, get over it
  10. uhm. i disagree. if anything, concealment is worse than lethality in organized team play, even now. In organized team play, you won't go solo on a target, you'll mow people down assisting another dps or with another dps assisting you, the superior burst of concealment ain't really needed, and the KD on HS is actually worse in this scenario, better let someone else use their CC that doesn't fill up resolve bar. Also, concealment brings absolutely nothing to the table when it comes to teamplay, while lethality's AOE snare can be gamechanging. Not to mention if you're teamplaying, you can't really afford the time to go out of combat and restealth and leave your fellas 1 guy short. Also, let's stop talking about healers dispelling the DOTS, it pretty much never happens, and i can say this since my other 50 is a sorc, and i usually end up healing: at best, you'll have 1 healer every 4 people. So best case scenario is 1 healer having to keep alive 3 people + himself, which usually comes with a giant bullseye on said healer's ***. Believe me when i tell you 99% of the time i'll be healing/bubbling people and won't be able to afford a GCD to cleanse people, and if i do, it will be usually to cleanse a snare from myself and allow me to kite that annoying duo of guys that really really really want to murder me. ps. if you're saying that as lethality you can't solo a guy that is receiving heals while as concealment you can, well, that's proof concealment needs a nerf, because you ain't winning a 1v1, but a 1v2 mate
  11. in pve (and by this i mean boss fights, anything else is a cakewalk anyway no matter the spec) in my opinion yes, it does. The armor pen from acid blade isn't really a factor, you're gonna have someone else debuffing armor on the target anyway (bar the solo boss fight). Corrosive dart might not be WOAH but it's still a great improvement over the basic one, and cull doesn't just deal more damage than lacerate, it deals pretty much double the damage, and again, keep in mind that the bonus x2 part is internal damage, ignoring armor, which is just plain awesome. Corr nade with WB going on is decent damage, and it lasts long so you don't have to waste many CDs keepint it up also, keep in mind that 2 points in medicine allow you to start the fight with 2 TA already, which means 2 culls before the first shiv, so it pretty much goes weakening blast, corr dart, corr nade, cull. shiv (back to 2 TA, shiv this early for CD optimization), backstab, cull, cull, shiv, cull, etc etc, not counting TAs from dead adds, so tbh you wouldn't miss the TA proc on lacerate that much afterall edit: i'm by no means telling you the operative is the ultimate pve dps, of course, i'm just saying that even after the nerf it will be absolutely viable, both concealment and lethality, with an edge (imo, of course) to lethality. PvP wise, it'll still murder, despite what all the FOTM 5 secs kills baddies can say. If i'm wrong, tbh nothing changes anyway, i find way more efficient focusing target after target with my marauder buddy (ohai healer, BAM BAM dead, rinse and repeat) rather than going for the solo kill. Team play, you know, less e-peenery more winning.
  12. hard hitting dots? cull hitting like a train and for a good portion unmitigated by armor? btw lethality is awesome for PvP too, it's only that it has less "shock" factor than concealment for obvious reasons, but i'd dare say in a competitive premade v premade enviroment it already is better than concealment in many situations, damn, aoe snare alone makes it worth every point spent in the tree
  13. dude. it's obvious we'll do less sustained, i'm talkng about how much of a big loss it will be. my "do the math" was meant to be read as in: take a look at how much damage reduction a certain armor value has, etc etc etc. Not really a huge dps loss, still viable for pve, not optimal of course, but conc/scrapper is indeed very pvp oriented tree. if your guildmates are a**holes and will complain because it will take 20 secs longer to down a boss, respec lethality, kkthxbye.
  14. yeah i think mines must be the only operative around that at lvl 50 still uses expl probe/sabo charge and snipe/charged shot. I always thought using an ability that hits like a truck instead of staying there looking dumb after a knockback or desperately trying and failing to catch up if snared wasn't rocket science but apparently it is. To all the whiners now. Stop saying "it's the gear" or "it was biochem". You're in denial. The nerf we're taking to our burst is justified. I can complain only on the stun opener to 1.5 secs with full resolve bar, because that is just dumb (my opinion: should be an indipendent skill with low damage, so we should choose between huge damage OR kd). Armor penetration nerf will make almost impossible to kill a tank spec'd guardian/jugg? well fine, that's what they're supposed to do, survive and take a beating, and anyway, why the f**k were you beating on a tank?? BAAAAAAW sustained damage now crap because of armor pen in pve and opener nerf. do the math and think again, or just spec lethality, which has >>>> pve capabilities anyway. (and my operative hasn't even that much great gear, while my sorc's almost in full champ, so i kinda know what i'm talking about from both sides of the story)
  15. i guess it would be better if you specified if you get those crits with the expertise buff/relic/overcharge/adrenal/whatever or "vanilla" well, unless you mean that by self buffed xD
  16. I'd say it really depends wheter someone is in a decent team playing togheter or not. Ranged/healing classes can do mighty fine even without proper support, while melee guys are at big disadvantage, with stealthers being in the middle because they can wait for some non stealth mdps to pull "aggro" from the other guys and then pop outta stealth and do their job. In this scenario i'd say most dangerous (or most useful) class would be sorc. Easier to get out of trouble when things go south, annoying as **** with CCs, decent damage. Bottom of the ladder would be melee dps, no matter what they are, they gotta work extra hard and die a lot. Things change drastically if there's proper support (and i'm not talking pocket heals or a full team with voice comm, just a decently skilled healer that manages to srpead his attention over more than 1 single guy), and even more with actual team play. The more support and team coordination there is, the more melee classes shine. I often play with 2 marauders when on my sorc healing. They just wreck stuff and i keep them alive. On the other hand being ranged loses some advantage against proper teamplay, this being more true for some rther than other classes. Stealthers eats dirt, with the exception of a few sins/shadows but they mostly fall into the melee dps category when played like that. So my list /while with decent support-teamplay and against decent support-teamplay/ as a healing sorc - OMG RUN that one's gonna make tiny pieces of me / gotta keep that guy alive he's gonna MURDER STUFF - sent/mara (holy mother of interrupts. if geared, they HURT) powertech/vanguard (dps. lotsa dps) sin/shadow (DPS, need good gear or pretty easy to shrug off) jugg/guardian (dps) powertech/vanguard (shieldtech. not so great damage but ANNOYING) sniper/slinger (baw i can't rupt ) -ugh, annoying, someone take this guy off my back so i can focus properly on stuff- sorc/sage (dps) "lawl, you call that /damage/?" operative/scoundrel (conc/scrapper) AKA "ohai, meet my friends and stick your burst up yer ***" merc/commando (dps) -lol that tickles, you srs bro? -
  17. FYI damage absorbed by static barrier (the bubble) counts towards healing, so 99% of the healing of a dps sorc you see is actually dmg absorb (not only self, on however said sorc's bubble is). A dps sorc /can't/ heal. 3 sec cast healing just isn't viable, the 1.5 sec one is just crap. You have better chances at surviving just running for your life. That leads to point b. Any SI that doesn't have healing done in that screenshot, simply isn't a sorc, more likely a sin. All that said. Sorcs might need to be looked at. TBH in the 50 bracket damage is perfectly fine, the problem is when you have too many sorcs around... you're just perma snared. Hell ofr a melee. One simple fix, make the slow on force lightning go, and making roots respect the resolve bar (srsly, this is just stupid, totally screws melee) Honestly, touching the rest of their CC *could* break the class, dmg wise sorcs feel a bit slower than mercs, and definately not as bursty as slingers/snipers, they put on good pressure with the occasional burst (on low armor fellas), yet they wear light armor and have the smallest hp pool. Seems only fair to let 'em have some cc more than the other ranged ACs
  18. very similar to the build i run. I too have found backlash and elec. bindings to be kind of mandatory against any competent and geared melee dps. If i can suggest 1 thing, take the points off induction, they're just not needed with sith efficacy and especially effusion, and grab barrage, the effect on FL is bad*ss. I agree on skipping lightning spire, in this build only CL benefits from it and since it's gonna be insta cast, no big deal walking 5 more meters in and then get out. Don't underestimate dots tho, even if you're going for the CL bursts, they can put quite some pressure when you have both of them rolling and FL on top of them, and, well, since you have dots, no reason not to use them. I myself grab death mark too, DF makes for some nice damage even without creeping death and there's no reason no to use it, so better make the most out of it. Basically, since you have dots anyway, no reason not to make them roll on a target you're about to burst.
  19. nope, Pazzo (just 1 o) from Lancelot daoc (plus various alts, and a spinoff on Tristan and Galahad with different names, who** accounts ftw ), never played on kay, or GW, or WAR (euro, karak eight peaks, untill that egyptian style crap). The Good Fellas, Rush, Esoteric Warriors as the guilds i've been in during those games, altough in the last months of my daoc (a bit after that minotaur thingie) days i played mostly with Suzerain^^ we met? xD @ someone else, uhm, i wasnt talking about lightning spec sorc, *** lol, nothing i mentioned requires lightning spec
  20. a stun lasts 4 secs top. No class can dish out 16k (let's say 19kish with bubble up?) damage in 4 secs. If you die in a stun duration, you had 3 people on you, and there's no reason you should survive 3 people on you by yourself. As stun wears off, knockback, speed, cleanse if you have a snare on, snare the guy chasing you yourself, say good bye to the guy that was beating on you 'cause that's polite. That should buy you time enough to get some help / make the guy change target /whatever. If you die, you got outplayed, it's as simple as that Of couse the word "tanking" was a bit of an exageration, but believe me you can take more punishment as a healing sorc than any non tank spec'd AC, bar a mara/sentinel that pops all his defensive CDs
  21. backlash and electric bindinggs are mandatory for any sorc that doesn't wanna come to the forums and QQ every time an OP/scoundrel jumps on them. Sith efficacy and no lightning effusion means you'll have to be a turret and cast FL all the time to not run out of force. That means giving up a TON of damage by not stacking affliction and CD on /any/ guy you rage on, shock OTM as needed, the occasional heal, static barrier every time it's up, and simply means that if you need to interrupt your FL cast (as any smart experienced PVPer will often do to spike if needed, or interrupt, or pop a static barrier, or prekite an incoming threat) you /will/ run out of force. Unless you die a lot and don't have time to run out of force, which might well be the case if there's any competent op/scoundrel or sin/shadow around since you're just cannon fodder to them unless you have cc breaker up and an easy kill if you have it up anyway. 50 sorc and 50 op here
  22. i disagree. I often pvp as a healer on my sorc (roughly i go 1 week dps 1 week healer, to keep things interesting), and i think better tricks would make a corruption sorc pretty much godlike. You already have a kb, a stun, a snare, force speed, static barrier. Pretty much all you need to get the **** out any tough situation, even non considering the fact that you can go resurgence --> and double force bending big heal or big heal innervate and literally tank people beating on you if you react fast enough to interrupts or bait it earlier preparing to dump the big ones. Most of all, what keeps a sorc alive anyway is positioning and prekiting, might be because i come from the ancient era where /anything/ would interrupt a cast and /everything/ had a cast time (daoc, <3 ), but it comes natural to me, and trust me, that's your better survival's tool.
  23. it's similar to the build i run myself. Backlash and electric binding are just invaluable in pvp, and i find any sorc not using them pretty much begging to be gang***** by stealthers. I whole heartedly agree on lightning effusion too, it's the only way i don't get out of force, but i tend to get to Immortal pretty often, and i'm constantly whooping butts, so no time to stop and seethe (lol waste of time). The regen on force lightning just isn't enough for me, i often don't finish the cast for various reasons and even if i try to finish all the FL casts i find that using my whole arsenal i just ran out of force sooner or later. I don't go that up in lightning tho, i found i prefear to have deathmark (dots hit pretty hard with it), and i don't have those 2 points in corruption, but i'm planning to try it out. Also, i don't have lightning storm, tbh i find i have wrath proc CL up every time i need it. Polarity shift... i duno, i'll give it a try, but on paper i don't like it much since the only skill that would benefit would be FL and that has barrage already that makes it pretty mean. Nice build tho, i guess mines are finetunes just according to my playstyle
