  1. The update seemed to go fine, but when I hit play the splash screen shows up, blinks, then I'm back to the desktop. The SWTOR launcher stays in the processes list but is gone from the applications list.
  2. 1. Add in game voice chat. Turbine did it and its a great feature. 2. Allow people to Q into ranked with less than 8 people.
  3. Yes it is... but its yours. Its not the gear man. I used to think that too. I made me feel better to think that I was getting crushed because they had better gear than I did. But I know better now. I've seen people in recruit gear rule a WZ and people in full augmented WH get ruled. I have 62 ranks and 1200 expertise. I still frequently get hit for 4k+. They people who are crushing you... well they have proabably played PvP in many MMOs and console games. They have also played your class (and every other class). They know your attacks and your defenses because they were you and they learned from it. I swear some of the people I fight know what I'm going to do before I do. And that's because they do. I agree it is hugely frustrating to play against them. You die so fast that you don't even understand why or how you died. Its hard to learn from those deaths. Thats why I've been pushing for a way to rank players that works. Maybe its solo Q, 2, 4, 6 man Q. I don't know. But a way for the skilled players to have other skilled players to battle, while us PvP noobs can fight other noobs for a while while we learn some basic chops. Then we can go up a little and learn some more... etc. I think ranked is failing right now due to the 8 man requirement and that it is currently a single pool. Everything starting at 50 should be ranked (or tiered might be a better word.) At 50 you start at the bottom tier and work your way up. Most matches should be played against players of similar skill (I'm not worried about the gear.)
  4. I'll start yet again with... I suck at PvP. Even at rank 62 and more WH w/augments than BM on my character, I suck at PvP. People who are actually good at PvP will beat me while wearing recruit gear. I'm over it. You should get over it too. (Bioware has already limited the maximum gear spread to recruit vs WH. You can't do anything about people too dumb or unwilling to use the free recruit gear.) Create a system that will ultimately rank and thus group people based on their skill. (The gear will take care of itself.) I don't think valor is the way to go either. You get valor from losing. I.e. I lose a lot, but still have rank 62. To use baseball as an example, you want to get to where little league teams play vs other little league teams, high school vs high school, minors vs minors and MLB vs MLB. etc. All new characters start in little league at level 50. Use the rating scale (tbd, but maybe win/loss record) to advance. Highly skilled people will advance quickly to the top, even more so if they run in pre-mades. But the number of times they get to face roll the little league teams is limited because they will advance out of that league quickly. Higher populations will be required or people at the higher levels will have noone to play against. Baseball still applies. Everyone got to play little league where they grew up (don't tell me if you didn't... complain to your dad or mom as the case may be) but not everyone gets to play in high school and very very few get to play at the MLB level. Also note that as the skill level goes up, so does size of the playing pool. Little league is one town (server) but MLB is the whole country (cross server). Note, cross server may need to start before the highest tier. It WILL be required at the higher tiers, but not necissarily at the lower ones, though it could be done. My goal is fun for all. More competition for all. More challenge for all. If my time to play and skill at PvP puts me in little league, but I have good close matches and win as many as I lose, it will be more fun and more challenge than winning without effort or losing without hope of winning. I won't have the bragging rights of a top MLB team, but I can still have fun with my friends. (And the top MLB teams don't have to play with or against me and my PvP-inept friends.)
  5. You can get valor from losing a match, so be careful using valor as a ranking method. I have over 60 ranks, but I'm not very good and should not be considered the equal of someone who got to rank 60 with mostly wins. I agree that a better method of matching skill to skill would help PvP in this game. More tiers/ranks and allow cross server (at least at the higher ranks). Give those who are actually good at PvP something more fun to do than gank the not so good players. While its fun to steamroll to victory sometimes, the most fun matches I've been in have come down to the wire. Win or lose.

    Out of control

I'm with you, but they won't say anything past L2P. Actually helping would require character traits they do not have and if you did learn to play, could put their epeens in jeopardy. I've tried to get help here. None to be had. My guild is planning to jump to GW2. Not sure I'll go there, but I doubt I'll hang around here. The skill range in PvP is far to large to be fun for anyone. Unless a ranking system that allows people to play against similar skill level players is put in, pvp here will remain unfun and under-utilized.
  7. Sure, be mobile you say. Our instant cast abilities are not enough. I turrent and keep healing because I no there is no point in trying to CC them because they can break it (or are flat out immune) and running doesn't work because they have more than enough roots to make running useless. So what are we left with? Stand and keep healing a teammate until they kill you. Rinse and repeat. Make my long timer heals work while I'm moving and we will be on to something. Or you could just give us the same bonus to heals as you get to damage...
  8. Really? If all players want to do is kill each other, then why are there healers? Pre 1.2 a healer could survive a dps attacking them. Not so much now. Sure if the dps makes a bunch of mistakes, but one leap and attack and the healer is half dead. An interrupt later the healer is 3/4 dead. One more attack and the healer is dead before the long cast time, of the 3rd heal they tried to cast but didn't make, is complete. I assume from your name you are a BH. Have you played a dedicated healer? If you have... is it more or less fun now than in 1.2?
  9. Please add an option on the PvP Panel to check that you do not want to enter into same faction fights (simulations.) Or at least when the Q pops, have it tell you that it will be a same faction battle so you can opt out sooner if you desire. This would help prevent people from getting as many late invites from people like me who would rather not fight same faction and don't drop until almost start time when the announcer finally tells you its a simulation. Thank you.
  10. Advising folks about the free recruit gear in a polite maner is cool. But realize if someone is new to PvP they are not going to get it (mentally). I took forever for my guild to convince me that dropping a huge amount of primary stat from my full columni to recruit was a good idea. In fact, I had such a hard time of it, I started a new character just to PvP because I didn't want to jack with my level 50s gear. Now that I have half BM and half WH augmented gear, I understand, but its a hard lesson to learn. The other piece is, some people are casual in the, I only get to play a little way. Someone who only plays a few hours a week will not keep pace with someone who plays 40+ hours a week and is slumming in the normal Q. Lastly, if you play ranked and you are down playing in the normal Q for any reason, you should be polite. (Not saying not to kill people, just be polite in chat and don't intentially single people out to be mean.) You are now slumming. Don't be a jerk on top of that. Make constructive ideas, make the strategy for the team, suggest rotations if you see someone using a lesser one etc. Things like "noob", "you suck", and "don't ever Q again" don't help. In fact if you hit a passive aggressive person (I'm sure there are none of those in an MMO) you may find they intentially tank matches when they see you just because you were a jerk to them in the past.
  11. Let me prefice... QQ, I'm bad. I suck at PVP. What else... ah... I don't deserve to post and I should learn to play. Now, if I'm allowed to comment now. Is ranked working? My guild is not at that spectacular at PvP (nor big enough to consitanly have 8 PvP'rs on) to be honest and we don't run ranked so I don't know much about it. (Thus I have to speculate and ask for info from those who do run it.) What I have seen is that ranked teams are running premades a lot in regular PvP (which is, of course allowed). I had thought that ranked would pull some of the really good teams/players up and leave us scrubs to play in normal PvP. My guess is, with ranked being one big pool right now, there are a couple guilds dominating and making it no fun for the rest, so they come back down to normal PvP. Then there are not enough people running ranked to get a match, so the rest come down to normal. If this is even close to correct... what would the fix be? My initial thought would be more "ranks" or "tiers" to align ability. Kind of like major and minor league teams. The Yankees don't need to be playing against the local town minor league team. Maybe a system where when you step up from normal PvP you play against the bottom of 5 tiers. Earn enough victories or maintain a certain win/lose ratio and you qualify for the next tier. At some point you reach equilibrium where you have hard fought matches that are close because you are now settled into the league or "tier" you belong in based on your skill. Thoughts?
  12. I don't like fighting the same faction. One match you are talking strategy with a person and working as a team and the next you are trying to kill them (and vis versa, of course.) We should be working as a team and learning to work with our own faction players, not cheaply benifiting from learning their strategies while grouped with them and then playing the next match against them. The server merges have helped. And it is true that you will slowly learn and remember people from the other faction, but you have to work it out. You also play them less so that learning takes longer. You also, do not hear why they are doing something and it is more difficult to anticipate changes in strategy if you stay opposing faction. As someone who plays a healer 99% of the time, same faction sucks. People in my faction know who I am. It only takes one person to remember me, to mark me and then two people who are not stupid to remove me from the gameplay completely. Its one thing if an opposing faction player sees me healing and marks me. That player had to pay attention to his surroundings and be observant. Even an opposing faction player who remembers me and marks me, because he is learning and studing his enemy is not nearly as annoying as someone in your faction who you healed last match marking you... I don't intend for this to be a "save the healer" post, but my perspective on PvP is mostly that of a healer... so... I can only post from my experience.
  13. Its bad... I was expecting some sort of blue and yellow pattern and all we got was a dumb looking body suit... come on BW...
  14. I play on Kaas City. At launch we had queues to get on. Now at prime time the fleet will have 100-120 on. Late at night its only 30-50. This makes grouping difficult. I would welcome a server merge at this point.
  15. If this is only certain types of gear, Bioware needs to spell that out more clearly. I read as much as I could, but still got the impression that set bonuses would be on the armor piece and would transfer. So, I moved to full pieces of Tionese gear parts over to the slave girl outfit. 200k+ later in removal fees, I now have Tionese quality pieces that no longer have the set bonus... This is very frustrating.
  16. Its even in current TV shows. I thought it odd at first, then I realized they were doing it on purpose. TV show Castle, Beckett call her female captain Sir all the time...
  17. ATM, its all I can do to not throw my monitor out the window and quit this game for good, but I'll try to ask calmly... When is the bug that kicks you out of Flase Emperor and does not let you back in going to be fixed? Question 2: is there any way to get back in an loot the chest? This has happened to three people in my guild so far and it is very trying to one's patience... Even working hard to not give him an angle on you, he can knock you so far that even a slight movement by him before the knockback is often enough. Knock me off... sure that fair. Kill me... sure. Don't let me back in when the party wins... too much.
  18. So you have finally solo'd your way to 50, because its hard to find groups in this game. You've done so without any advice or anyone helping you figure out how to build your character or what gear to put on it. Now, you're just excited to finally be able to get a group because you made it to 50. Awesome you think to yourself! But really, you need to spend another month grinding dailies on Belsavis until those same people who refused to group with you on the way up will even consider grouping with you now. Oh, yeah, go do it by yourself. What do you think this is? A game where you group with people? If you can't solo it, don't group with me! So begins the "you're not good enough to play with me" wars... We would be better off if the ability to look at someone else's gear was removed. To me, when Turbine added that feature to DDO, it ruined a large segment of the populace. Yes, its a rant, but after 10 years of playing MMOs, I'm pretty sick of this elitist, bs attitude. I'll assume that the OP was even and actually trying to be helpful, but even in a post with advice, the attitude that you are wasting someone else's time in a game because you have not yet done 30 runs through the level 50 content evident. And it saddens me that it is already so.
  19. This is what I experience as well. For example, in the first city on Tatooine i can cross the sunshade and the buildings and get across the first catwalk and onto the bridge between buildings with no problems. Then when I go to jump off the railing onto the pipe section, my character does a double knee bend and falls. I don't know what its doing, it looks like it wants to jump because it does the knee bend like its going to jump and then doesn't. Second problem is getting dumped off the balloon just before getting to the datacrons. After an hour of waiting and walking on the balloon so I didn't get logged out, I'm pretty well pissed that I didn't get them due to an obvious game bug.
  20. SWG, a long, long time ago did a restart everynight. It was like 6am eastern. Even west coasters could play late at night and not be overly affected by it. I do like that they are fixing things. I don't like that it is every other day and even a Friday night just recently (which seems crazy to me, but i'm not an MMO guru, so what do i know.) I'd think that some of it could be combined. Tonights patch for some PvP things sounds pretty minor (to someone like me who does not PvP at least). Could it wait until next weeks planned Tuesday maintenance?
  21. that only affects PvP? I don't PvP, so maybe this is a really big thing???
  22. Wow... less than a day and the poll is already closed. Anyway, I dislike the new cooldown animations. I think they are harder to read and the extra flashing is annoying.
  23. 1. If I cannot use it, please don't show it on the map or in game exactly like the one I can use. i.e. On Belsalvis way up north I saw a quick travel point. I was ecstatic because i was already sick of traveling so far to I drove up and hoped off my speeder and clicked on it.... instead of registering, I was killed by the host of level 50 republic npcs. As an imperial, i should not be able to see a republic registration point which I cannot use. example #2, on Belsalvis near the tomb, there is a transport station. It is apparently a republic only location. It looks just like the transport station you can use as an imperial that you passed a long way back to get to this location. By showing it without distinction from the one you had just tought me to use back by the imp base, this becomes a trap. Maybe that is your intent, i do not know, but it also flags you for PvP while you waste your time clicking on the panel trying to activate the taxi point. 2. PvP flagging. Its happened to me on Nar Shaddaa and now on Belsalvis where to get to my quest I ended up transiting an area which flagged me for PvP. I'm not interested in PvP, so this turns out to be frustrating. 3. Quests that require a player to kill x number of a certain mob should accept them from a larger area. It is frustrating to kill dozens of a mob type on your travels but not have them count because you did not stop and kill them, and wait for a respawn at a specific spot. Please note, that I have been truely enjoying the story line of the game. What troubles me is that I played SWG for 3 years Pre-NGE and played DDO for over 5 years and still love both games. After a month and a half, I'm finding frustrations here that make me want to take a break already. That seems really fast to me...
