  1. Trash every piece of tank gear and replace it with dps gear, starting with the shield. You are absolutely gimping yourself and adding close to ZERO survivability with the tank pieces.
  2. First of all for a tank to say they regularly hit 350k, then a dps should regularly hit 600k+. Both dont happen "regularly", it is more like "rarely". Because it is not every game that you are running with a pocket healer, or with a premade, or with competent and geared players. More importantly, it is not every game that runs its complete course. Show us 10 consecutive scorecards, 5 solo queue and 5group queue, and lets see that 350k game after game. People exaggerating on these forums only accomplish to create a false perspective of a class or AC. Second, I never ONCE in my 80+ valor ranks did I think of ANY tank, specifically PT/Jugg, as being ANYWHERE remotely close to being a "pain in the ***", and we have some notorious ones on my server running in full augmented WH dps gear. I am not telling people not to play Tanks. I am not saying that it is not FUN to play as a tank. I am not even saying that they are worthless. But when someone says "I play to be a pain int he ***", that's only from your perspective. You have absolutely no evidence that you are being such. In fact, all the evidence shows the complete opposite, otherwise there WOULD be more tanks playing in PvP. I cant tell you how often I go against a tank/healer combo and kill them both while ignoring the tank pretty much completely. If I experience Tanks as being such as you described, I would love nothing more than to play one (and I have played quite a bit as a PT tank). Furthermore, there isnt a single WZ that requires a tactic of being a "pain in the ***" to win.
  3. Iron Fist is not a hybrid. It is a PvP Tank spec. Parakeet WAS the perfect true Hybrid. The Maverick is a also a hybrid.
  4. Perfect reply.....lol I actually feel dumber having read the OP and, worse, the replies that actually took him seriously.
  5. There is absolutely no reason to use a shield if you are not ONLY in IGC but also if you are NOT a tank spec. I say that because there are some people running an AP spec but using IGC, or for the instances where you will switch stance to throw a guard on a ball carrier or something. The stat differences between the same tier shield and generator is huge, and well worth whatever commendations you will grind.
  6. lol, Shieldtechs along with all other tanks, are getting NERFED for PvP. We're not getting it as bad as assassins, but still, damage wise, ST will do less burst in PvP. We are getting buffed however for PvE in the ways of better threat.
  7. With all due respect, there is nothing "hybrid" about this. If anything it is a "gimped" pyro build. If you want to loose TD, which is something I wouldnt recommend after 1.2, then you're better off Taking Steely Resolve. Going short on Pyro to add a few more points in AP is always a bad idea. If you are looking for a true AP/Pyro Hybrid, then look up the Maverick. Retractable Blade, not only is it a bad dmg dealing ability (especially non-enhanced), but more than that, it forces you into the 4m range. One of the main advantages of a Pyro is being able to stay in the 10m range. Maybe it's your level or gear, but TD will EASILY do double or even triple the dmg of ED. At 50, and with 1200 expertise TD does 4-5k crits. But the best thing about this damage is the delay it has. Timed correctly with a Rail Shot, you can take someone down to 50% in 3 GCDs.
  8. wow, so do you just randomly pick a thread, look at its title, and reply? lol I think you missed the discussion in this entire thread. It's about the Energy Rebounder Talent, that significantly reduces the cooldown of Energy Shield. 25% Damage reduction is nothing to laugh at, ignore, or dismiss either.
  9. Both WH and Campaign gear carry the set bonus on the "Armor Mod" and WILL override any other setbonus. So for the 2pc PvE Supercommando you want to use BM "Armor Mods", and WH "mods/enhancements" Yes you can trade in empty BM gear for the WH. That would work
  10. The whole point is the maximize the Energy Shield. Having it at 18sec + Energy Rebounder means that for at least half the game, you have 25% mitigation. Also when speaking of what set pieces to use, that doesnt mean you keep the stock mods. With the 2pc Combat Medic you want to remove alacrity and add power/surge. With the 2pc Supercommando (PvE), you will change ALL the mods. You want to aim for the BM armor mods, and WH mod/enhancement (also power/surge when you can, if not then crit/surge).
  11. I dont think any BH relic is really good for PvP. Just get a WH one. For PvE, I would go with the absorb relic if you often tank. Otherwise go for the damage proc one. I went with the energy dmg. It adds about 2% to your total damage.
  12. No. But stacking mitigation, or stacking any stat really, should be the goal to really notice a difference. 1200expertise + heavy armor + 18sec Shield(w/40sec CD) + 4% mitigation through Combust = A very durable Pyro able to dish out and mitigate damage. The reason you want BM "Armor Mod" is it's the highest mod you can get without loosing the 2pc PvE Supercommando bonus, while still keeping good expertise.
  13. The 15% crit bonus to Railshot from the Eliminator set is nice. But I am geared well enough, and able to still burst down even an Operative Healer, that I opted for this setup to maximize my survivability against the toughest classes, namely marauders/assassins. This "Super" Shield setup, proved more valuable to me than the 15% crit. In fact, I am so addicted to it, that I dont even consider any other gear setup. 18sec shield practically every 40sec means I have my energy shield available pretty much whenever I need it. 18sec vs 12sec, means I can stay alive much longer when the marauder pops his cds, or when I go solo to cap a node vs. 2 others. Because of this, I hardly ever lose vs a marauder/assassin. There are others here on the forum who also tried it and really like it. There is a dedicated thread to it. The Super Energy Shield. Regarding Degauss, it's a personal preference. It would work very nice if you have Energy Rebounder too. I just prefer Infrared Sensors because I hate assassins and there are a ton of them on my server. It's not more efficient to run as a shield spec. I am full dps spec, constantly either 1st or 2nd in dmg/kills/medals/least death all due to this Super shield setup. I posted a hybrid tank spec that makes use of Energy Rebounder, but I would only recommend it for PvE since stance switching in PvP would be ridiculous. Here is the thread on The "Bubble" Tank.

  15. Not that I agree with the stupid changes to the ST tree, but a tank shouldnt have an equal chance of taking a dps class.
  16. STs didnt need free Flame sweeps for any reason. Their PvP dps was subpar to begin with compared to Tanksins. Their survivability is the worst among the 3 tanks, because we rely on shield/absorb which sucks in PvP. This change makes absolutely no sense. They give us extra threat generation for PvE, something that no decent ST was complaining about in the first place. I really think this patch just put the nail on the coffin for me. I think I am done giving BW $15/month and spend my time in this game adapting to senseless and absurd changes, patch after patch.
  17. Leveling up Shieldtech is the best option, followed by Pyro. You can increase your dps without needing to respec. Just put on all dps gear. That way you can keep your spec and put on tank gear, for soloing heroics or for running flashpoints. Advanced Prototype is very bad until you're in the mid 40s because all its main talents are gained much later.
  18. I agree, but that is and should always be the challenge of a Tank; managing threat. To tweak the class so that threat never becomes even an issue is more along the line of dumbing the encounter, not enhancing a class. And like I said, I never found PTs to be lacking in PvE. But they are certainly lacking in PvP, which this patch does nothing to address. In fact it probably will make them even less playable.
  19. It seems that both your PT and Marauder are either in MUCH worse gear than the rest of the raid, or they have not managed to learn a rotation and whatnot. Scratch that, even if a Sorc is in better gear, they still will end up doing less than a PT, Marauder, and a sniper. Marauder and PT should be the top 2 dps in EVERY raid. Period. Just by telling us that the Marauder comes in 4th, clearly shows that there is something really wrong going on in the raid. That makes sense. You need to practice alot on a dps PT to get decent output. AP requires practice to optimize priority on their abilities, and Pyros need practice to manage their heat. The trend in a raid is more like this: Marauder/Pyro other DPS PT Sniper/Jugg/Merc Sorc And like someone else said, Pyros only need to be in melee range every 9 sec. AP are more melee centric in PvE. in half rakata/columi, you should be seeing 1300-1400dps on a dummy.
  20. I dont see flame sweep being "part" of a rotation. It will mainly be used after a jet charge. PTs never had threat issues with single or aoe, I dont know what that buff is all about. It's nice to get buffed, and I am not complaining, but I would have rather seen a different type of buff; one that would actually make a difference in PvP as well.
  21. I use 2pc Combat Medic (PvP) + 2pc Supercommando (PvE) for an 18sec Energy Shield + Energy Rebounder synergy. But most Pyros opt for Eliminator.
  22. Pyro's in Rakatas can push over 1400dps on dummy, and closer to 1600dps with Campain/BH/Augmented. There is absolutely nothing bad about a PT dps. In fact, dps PTs can save a raid from wiping with a well timed Taunt on a boss if the tank is about to go down or in the process of being rezzed. Probably the ONLY dps class that can maintain constant dps pressure while on the move, which is very useful in many boss fights. Pyro PTs also have arguably the absolute highest BURST dps, which comes in handy in bosses with multiple phases, etc... There is really absolutely NO reason to dismiss ANY AC from a raid, let alone a dps PT. Any guild that says no to a particular AC for raiding, is not a guild worth bothering with.
  23. Powertech Ion Gas Cylinder now generates 100% additional threat while active. Shield Tech Supercharged Ion Gas now increases Ion Overload damage by 25%. While Ion Gas Cylinder is active, Rail Shot triggers your Ion Gas Cylinder on the target and up to 4 additional nearby targets. This damage does not affect sleeping, lifted, or incapacitated enemies. This generates a high amount of threat. Flame Shield: The critical chance bonus applied to Rocket Punch and Flame Sweep has been reduced to 8% per point. Flame Surge now increases the damage dealt by Flame Sweep by 6% per point and causes Jet Charge to grant 1 charge of Flame Surge per point, which makes the next Flame Sweep free of cost. This skill now requires Jet Charge instead of Flame Shield. That to me is a PvE buff, mainly to threat generation, which we didnt really need. AND a PvP nerf in a way, which is the opposite of what were hoping for. Instead of more survivability or more damage output, they give us another proc for a free flamesweep. Really shows that this AC team has ZERO connection to actual gameplay and completely ignore their playerbase's feedback..
  24. They are not the best tank in PvP, but certainly beastly in PvE. For starters, I would like to see this simple fix...Allow the use of "Shield Generator" in IGC to "SHIELD" any type of attack, not just Weapon and Range. Tech and Force should also be "shielded". Now lets move to the "Absorb", that would stay the same, only able to absorb Weapon and Range attacks. That way from a mitigation perspective, nothing has changed. But getting the chance to "shield" any attack would help the PT trigger Shield Vents and Flame Shield.
  25. Feel sorry for people who get off on putting others down. This is not a FPS. You have 1.5sec GCD, which is plenty of time to make clicking perfectly viable. If you cant move a mouse from one ability to another that's 1-3" away in 1.5sec, then you would suck with keybinding as well, since the problem is hand eye coordination. Sure in general keybinding is more efficient but by absolutely no mean is it an indication of someone's skills with his class. And so what if someone hasnt played other MMOs or is older than the avg person playing? Grow up a little.
