  1. Although it's been a while, I think this is also where you pick up the Alderaan bonus series. If I recall correctly, the NPC you have to talk to is in the outermost ring, and on the middle ring (not the ring with the hanger elevators, but the one that the GTN terminals are on), there is a human NPC who now has a quest icon.
  2. These are very rare drops, as you will notice from the prices on the GTN. I've had orange bracers drop on some higher level (35+) planet missions.
  3. As politely as possible, I am thinking the answer here is 'no'. If you are RPing a certain role, you need to RP and ignore some game mechanics. Don't use the other companions, and make the story that you fired them.
  4. I started an IA, and just picked up Kaliyo as a companion. In our chat she says: "I was looking to trade up anyway...and I'm guessing I can ride you a way before you break." That's what we need: Fewer double crosses and more double entendres.
  5. I've been enjoying the Class stories (Smuggler, BH, SI, SW), but the planets are killing me. Having to do the same quests over again is seriously wearing thin. It's bad enough that every Imperial character has to go to the Colossus, but Imperial and Republic characters both have to do the Imprisoned one. I've got one character I stopped playing on Belsavis, just because I didn't enjoy the planet the first time (it seems the eptimome of 'kill X boars'). There needs to be more variability in non-Class stories. Once you've run characters that start on Korriban and Hutta, you know what you are doing for the next 40 levels. I would suggest: Have some planets other than the starter planets that are encountered by only one or some Classes Have some planets after Dromond Kass and Coruscant that are only encountered by one side Have the option to choose between two possible destination planets Have variable progression in planet story lines If the Class stories weren't tied to level, I'd just skip the planet content at this point.
  6. Actually, it worked really well. The game tanked when they made it a starting class. Oh, yeah, and tried to balance classes. Why should a smuggler be able to stand toe-to-toe against a force user? The only reason is PvP. From a PvE standpoint, if I can't handle a mob or a mission, I'll get more levels or get a group, which is realistic and in keeping with the canon. The desire for classes balanced against one another leads to the homogenization of classes, and the continual nerf-fest in games after launch. You might as well just have one class with different skins. Go play a shooter. The whole point of classes is to have different skills and abilities, some of which are useful only in some situations. That is what encourages grouping and cooperative game play. I say MORE class imbalance! Vive la différence!
  7. And, of course, Syndrome. Capes and cloaks have their place. It's just not on any of my characters. I also don't like the "shirts" with the long in the front, short in the back tails. On a side note I find it very annoying that the item thumbnails for clothes don't show whether the item has a cape or skirt. Too many items I've been on the GTN and gone "oooooh" which has turned into "bleh" when I actually previewed the item.
  8. Over the course of a character, if you did the conversation when they are scheduled to occur, you probably would gain an entire level. I've had four conversations at 12-13k each go off one after another. Beats killing MOBs.
  9. There's a thread in the SI Class board about whether you are using all your Companions. I'm not as an SI, and I didn't as a Smuggler. It's just too much work to keep them all equipped, so I wind up working just two or three of them. Seems like that's common. This creates a problem for Companion story arcs, though. If I neglect a Companion, when I go back I am only getting 5 XP per conversation. I think that the XP should be based on your level when you have the conversation, not on a predetermined conversation level. As a Smuggler when I hit my 40s, and was super tired of missions to flip X switches or kill Y MOBs, I would have been more interested in Bowdaar's and Guss's stories if they gave decent XP. At 5 XP per, though, I'd get more in Space for killing fighters. At the same time, if a conversation leads to a Mission, which will have a set level, then force the conversation(s) regardless of affection.
  10. I agree. I think you should get affection when you give them any improved gear. It seems like I spend a lot more time on their upkeep than their affection shows. It's also a problem with their stories, though. You can't keep leveling all their affections to keep their stories going at the right level. On my Smuggler I haven't player Bowdaar or Guss at all. If I wanted to go back and work with them, I'd get 5 xp per encounter (except that I'm at 50, so would get no xp per encounter).
  11. I don't. That's one of the issues I have with the companion system. It's too hard to keep them all equipped at your level. I played Smuggler and just used three of the five companions (not including the droid). As an SI I used Khem and now I use Ashara, but I don't see using the other much when I get them.
  12. I'm sorry, I forgot the name of them, but last night I bought a pair of orange-moddable plain, grey trousers on the GTN that were Sith Inquisitor only, level 39. Only pair I'd ever seen (and I routinely check armor a few levels above mine). I think these are the ones: http://www.torhead.com/item/5yDc9m3/supreme-inquisitors-legwraps
  13. I don't know. I was looking for orange armor for her, and a lot it went bare-midriff when I previewed it on her. Which would have been fine, if she weren't bandaged up like she has a terrible skin disease. Come on, Bioware. Give her a complete skin! And let's have a customization where she's red with black tats!
