  1. Yes. I stopped playing Age of Conan when my main character was about lvl 35. Came back when the expansion was released and played up to max level (then quit again ... now that it's f2p, I might drop back in again). I also played Everquest II when it was released - but not for long. Up to now I've returned twice for a couple of months and quit again. Same with a couple of other MMOs. So .. I do return, but once I've quit a game, a lot has to happen for me to return AND STAY.
  2. Account has been cancelled - just some days remaining.
  3. Sorry, but I simply refuse to stay subbed (i.e. spending even MORE money) on a game that I do not really enjoy. I'm not here to "help" the game, but to enjoy it. It is Bioware's task to produce an enjoyable game - for me, they failed.
  4. They have been developing that game for ... how long? It was released like half a year ago ... How much time should we give them? Why should I buy and pay for a game that is released in 2011 that does not have the features and content of comparable games? Yes, I know ... WoW or LotRO have had years to grow, to add content ... but this is SWTOR's competition (give or take) ... SWTOR competes with games that offer much more ... why should players play SWTOR? Because it's Star Wars? How much Star Wars feeling is there really? Because all dialogues are spoken? How important is that for most players? I'm not a PvPler, I'm not even a raider ... I'm a role player ... SWTOR does not offer me much. No housing (no, don't call my spaceship "housing"), no social clothing slots, not many ways of interacting with the surroundings (I can't even really sit down in the cantina). If you want to be successful, you have to offer most features which older games offer after some years of development NOW, at release - or have something really nice and unique. Otherwise, why should people switch?
  5. I hated Taris in Beta (that's where I actually quit playing ...) ... So my toons now are mainly Empire ... I dreaded the moment when my Jedi Shadow would set feet on Taris ... but what can I say? Now I really like it.
  6. I can neither see a reason to say "thank you" nor a reason to condemn Bioware. The Devs worked hard to produce a game that people want to play not in order to do the people a favor but to get people to spend money on the game, ensuring that the devs get paid. It's more or less a business relationship. They have a game I like and so I pay for the game and for a subscription. But yes, even in a business relationship it is polite to say thanks now and then ... so how does Bioware say thanks to us (based on several threads, people do not seem to agree that Bioware has found a good way of saying thanks)? Another point: We want SWTOR, but we do not need it ... Bioware NEEDS us ... They made a mistake (or even several ones) today and now I simply have to evaluate if I like the game enough to not care about one or two mistakes (atm, I like the game enough).
  7. Hm ... I got a couple of days from Blizzard ... one or two days from Rift ... maybe even LotRO gave one or two days once ...
  8. Sometimes it just takes time ... look at Bioware and their reverse engineering of 1.2 ... 8 hours?
  9. Never left my "old" MMO ... got a life-time account with LotRO and a one-year sub with Everquest 2 ... so this one-day downtime is not such a problem ...
  10. No ... I still have 21 days from my first (free) months ... but of course, today is not a favorable impression (that said: yesterday went quite smoothly and the last 9 days in-game were fun).
  11. You serious? I remember a patch in Dark Age of Camelot that made the whole UI disappear ...
  12. I logged in yesterday, first group of thrash mobs ... DFA ... and I was asking myself "Whoa, did they nerf it in the patch?". a) The group of mobs definitely did not lose as much health as before ... and all of them were standing in the (smaller) radius. b) I did not notice DFA ticking more often c) I noticed that some mobs were knocked out of the radius of DFA so the following ticks (no matter how many) did not do damage to them All in all, this is either a (serious) nerf or a bug ...
  13. I just joined the game a week ago (played beta, did not like it, playing now and loving it) ... but this is a weak performance by Bioware ... no patch notes to read while downloading ... sigh.
  14. IF everything goes according to plan
  15. Depends ... I like the SWTOR system better - because you have to make a choice. With Rift, you can have all the class souls in the end and switch freely (at least as long as I played that was the case).
  16. Real talent trees ... LotRO does not have them and from what I've heard WoW wants to "streamline" them.
  17. Thank you all ... I've chosen a merc ... but as I'm only lvl 13, I am not far into any tree. I'm on Dromund Kaas now ... and - against many other opinions - I do not find fights too easy (maybe I'm just a horrible Bounty Hunter player ...). I have a lot of abilities on my quickslots, but do not (yet) know when best to use them ... well, experience will help I guess.
  18. Thanks, so in any case first decision sounds like merc ... and then you can respec between arsenal and pyro, if you want ... correct?
  19. Thanks for the answers, but ... I guess I'm looking for the build that is the most fun (not necessarily the "best") for somebody with my interests. And of course I know that fun is an individual thing, that's why I tried to describe what I like. Thus, while Merc Arsenal might be No1 DPS, if it's only spamming Tracer Missiles (which some people claim), it's not fun for me ... So ... based on your experience: which is more FUN to play in solo PvE: Merc Pyro or Merc Arsenal ... or Powertech Pyro?
  20. I'm pretty new to this game and my BH reached level 10 yesterday. Now the big question is of course: Powertech or Mercenary? (especially as this choice is not reversable) Please bear the following in mind: - I don't care for PvP, I'm a 90% PvE player - my first focus for this class is dps, so I do not plan on healing / tanking - I very often solo content or run in a small group. I like doing instances sometimes (but it's not my main entertainment) and I'm not really a raider - no PvP and not really a raider also means that I don't really care about min-maxing - I like a bit of a challenge, spamming only one skill is no fun to me - I personally think two pistols are cool (but I also will level up a smuggler who also can use two pistols, so I'm not sold on the dual-wield BH yet) - I'm not sure if I prefer range or melee/close range Does that all sound like Mercenary (Pyro Tree) would be a good choice? Thanks for any ideas/advice. (oh ... and for crafting: Armstech a bad choice? Would Cybernetics or Biochem be better?) Yes, I looked at a lot of info (I think), but being only level 10, I do not know how certain aspects will look in 20 levels.
  21. I just want to compliment you on that initiative ... seems like it worked. I think it's a great idea (though I guess we all have to admit that there are a bit too many servers, spreading the population a bit thin).

    Easter

I'm a bit on the fence here. Yes, it's fun ... but: - the game is not really ready for "fluff" stuff yet (housing? appearance slots?) - resources that are spent on such holidays should go into game development at the moment - please no real life holidays or disguised real life holidays ... maybe give us 1 - 3 holidays in-game, based on lore.
  23. I played Dark Age of Camelot ... once a patch made the whole UI disappear ... you could log in, but not really play as there was no UI. There are bugs in all (big) games. The number of them is not the problem, but to what extent they take away from normal play. From that perspective, I don't think SWOTR is that bad ... (Age of Conan comes to mind, where you fell through the stairs and could not get out when you wanted to enter the inn in the starting zone).
