I posted this elsewhere but this seems appropriate as well. You actually CAN remove the armor and expertise portion of PVP gear. I'm not sure if it's a bug, or whatnot, but it is doable. Make sure to have a armor mod of any kind in inventory (I use a lvl 8 green I picked up for 100 credits) Take your pvp item, place it in inventory. Ctrl right click on pvp item as if to modify it. Ctrl right click your spare armor mod. You will notice that the mod jumps into the armor spot in your pvp piece (it was previously invisible). Now drag that mod that just appeared out of the pvp piece and into your inventory. You'll be prompted to pay 28k credits or whatnot, and when you accept you will have a purple armor mod that you can stick into any armor. Customize any orange pieces into pvp gear.
  2. This. EvE should be the benchmark other companies strive for in terms of open world pvp. But having a great system like this demands losses, because when there is no penalty for dying, there is no incentive to defend and win. In EvE you can lose years (hell hundreds of man years in some cases) of work in a war. War decs would be excellent. The main thing we need are totally open planets with territory that guilds can control. With sense of ownership will come the need to defend, especially if controlling said territory has a benefit. In EvE controlling territory gives easy resources. You CAN go out into 0.0 that you don't own and gather there, but you'll likely die before you can bring it back, so you mine in your corp/alliance controlled space in relative saftey.

  4. You noticrd that too? No keybinds! At least grav round isn't in every slot like some tracer missile spammers must have.
  5. I've had games with 10 or 11 people per side as well. These also usually (not always) result in not being counted for dailies/weeklies, but the valor counts.
  6. It's not hard to swap holding said points. Look at Tol Barad in WoW, you'd have battles every 4 hours or whatnot, and the zone would be flipped back and forth between factions. The Ilum quests should be either kill quests, or they need to totally revamp the system and make it worth more than a bag of loot to hold the zone.
  7. It's passable for a PvE game. I was hoping for more territory control and epicness of owpvp, which is what was advertised. Mechanics need tightening up as well, some abilities are delayed by a few seconds. WZs are fine, if uninspired. Class balance is questionable at best, but need more fully geared 50s to confirm suspicions.
  8. If you are either Republic or Empire, just use Alt f4 on Sarlacc. But it only works for Republic or Empire, anything else you have to not use it.
  9. Dude, just kite them out of tentacle range. L2P or go back to WOW.
  10. Yeah I've had this happen too. Most notably when racing to a health boost. I see myself getting there first, but never get the health. Ping is a healthy 30-40 always. Also, every so often when a match ends, and everyone gets frozen, we all get moved over slightly (1-2m) as if the game corrects positions at that point.
  11. I'm up to 9 relics. Can't wait for tomorrow.
  12. I never said it was balanced, I was giving advice on how I managed to find a solution that is suitable for me. I have no doubt pvp dmg, not just from OPs/scoundrels will be tweaked hundreds of times. It happens in every MMO.
  13. I was getting killed by the stun/opened as well. Now with 400 expertise and 19k hp I can actually put up a fight and win occasionally. When I finish off my pvp gear and have 23-5k hp it shouldn't be much of a problem. Tank spec vanguard, here is my strategy As soon as you hear the opener (those knives have a distinct sound, not sure how the scoundrel opener sounds) cc break, pop aoe stun. Gut OP to make it bleed, pop shield, pop medpack, toss sticky nade as an extra timed dmg dealer in case he stealths away. Proceed to make generous use of trinkets/adrenals/pvp buffs to burn him down faster than he gets you. If I survive until his armor penetration buff wears off, I'll win.
  14. I'm sad watching all of these crazy burst dmg videos. As a vanguard with 400 expertise, I have to wait for the sun and moon and planets align to get my 2500 medal. Most matches it doesn't happen.
  15. How long did WoW have no BGs for? And when it did there were 2 or 3 to choose from as well. There are 3 here. There are many things to complain about, there being only 3 BGs is not one of them, imo.
  16. This is a bug. It sucks.
  17. Yes of course. I roll with only 1300 HP.
  18. You could send in a ranged dps from the other side to help the acid out. This is a team game after all.
  19. The pits on the IMP side are fueled by hate and rage, and overpopulation on most servers. Of course they will hit harder. The ones on REP side care too much.
  20. You can only save up to 1000/1000 in the two marks, essentially 4000 warzone marks, with 3000 converted to the other kind. Once you hit this, you might as well spend them on something because gathering more will be a waste.
  21. Not sure what you should roll, I can tell you how I see things from a vanguard standpoint in 1v1 fights. There is too much group dynamics variables to get into what is best in a particular group setup. Just for disclosure, I have 400 expertise, and 18-19k hp (roughly depending on what stim i'm running) with tank spec and running a shield off hand. This is vs lvl 50 opponents. Sorcs - Generally easy kills as long as they are not heal spec Sorcs heal spec - even with a 6s interrupt rarely can I kill a one before help arrives. Assassin - Most are pretty bad and easy to kill. The good ones do excellent damage and often put me on the defensive. A good assassin is probably the most consistently dangerous counter to vanguard. BH/Merc/Powertech - Mirror class, I usually have no trouble killing. Tracer missile spam is a joke with a fast interrupt. Healers are pretty easy to interrupt for the most part. Not many good ones on Empire side on my server. Warriors - 1 v 1 they usually aren't too bad. They get scary when guarding a healer, especially in an area where movement to separate them is restricted (platforms or R/L guns because of LoS) Operatives Sniper - They can hurt if you're in the open, and they see you coming from full range. Storm doesn't work on them in they are in cover so you're left with tossing a nade which does lame damage. If you close in without taking too many crits you can trinket and burn them down. When I turned 50 I did run into one particularly good sniper who kept dodging in and out of his cover in melee range and he schooled me. I'd like to fight him again now that I have gear, see how I fare. Operatives Agent DPS - Until you are really well geared the (even slightly) geared agents will kill you, or nearly kill you within a stun, leaving you panicked and scrambling for medpacks or defensive cooldowns. cc break as soon as possible and shield up, and hope to weather the storm. If you catch them out of stealth they are pretty squishy. I expect once I hit that 22-23k hp range the opener will be less threatening. Operatives Agent Heal spec - Can't kill them with my spec/gear combo. No amount of interrupts and dps that I can put out can damage them enough to kill unless they are undergeared. If I interrupt on heal, they have another lined up right after, if I stun that one, they cc break and line up another heal that I have no response to. Similar to healer sorcs who alternate their two heals. Unlike WoW interrupts only stop the one skill from being used, not the whole tree, so if you stop one heal, the other heals are still usable. Annoying as all hell for me to fight these guys.
  22. harpoon = 30m range. Guard = 15m range. Not hard to split up a healer and his guard. Harpoon isn't the only skill capable of separating people. Hell, my healers sometimes just up and leave chasing a KB, leaving me swarmed with damage I'm taking and absorbing his dots too.
  23. The purple bags contain the crushed hopes and dreams of anyone opening them 90% of the time. The other 10% they bring happiness and joy to the world...until you open the next one.
  24. I don't know what the ratio of gear to no gear from bags is for me, all I know is that I've now gotten 8 relics. I don't need 8 relics, my companions don't need relics either. I can't pull mods out of relics to use in other gear. All I can do is stare at said relics and cry. Other than that I guess I've been pretty lucky. From what I can estimate I've opened maybe 40 bags, and have 2 ear pieces, 2 pants, 1 boots, 1 bracer, 8 relics.
  25. Ah yes, I forgot about TB. Oh how fun it was to run across that bridge at just the right time to get credit for the win before getting booted out. If win trading is more efficient than actually playing, win trading will happen, no matter what. It's even easier in SWOTR because both factions can see /say so communication isn't an issue.
