  1. I'm going to stay subbed, but i downgraded to monthly a long time ago. A combination of boredom with content and irritation with bugs is really setting in. I'm going to give 1.2 a fair shake, but its the make or break patch imho.
  2. Disappointing. I like macro's. Simplifies my life. I don't like casting sequence macro systems that reduce the game to smashing 1-2 buttons, but there are sometimes things that would be nice to be able to combine together. Also the "score one for the good guys" response is ridiculous. People that want macros / combat logs / add-ons / (thing that you don't want) aren't "the bad guys". They are people that want to play the game in a different manner than you do. Doesn't make you right or them wrong, or them right and you wrong. It means that you both want to play differently. What bioware should be doing is enabling both groups to do as they wish. But, ya know, with such a polished game, they can afford to further alienate people by small increments. Now excuse me, i'm off to go see if Defending the Shipment is working today, or if the bad coding that allows ******s to ruin it for others is still there.
  3. It's affecting me too, and its really really irritating to see that it's back . I thought this was in the "solved" file.
  4. Fix bugs. Avoid nerf/buff see-saw. They've done decent at this so far, but the incoming mysterious BH nerf has me a little concerned when phrases like "balancing to bring X in line with Y" are bandied about. Make the game more user-friendly / approachable from an interface standpoint. Honorable mention, focus on 50+ PVE / PVP. On a long enough timeline, this is where an ever-increasing portion of your population lands.
  5. The official quote was something along the lines of "What makes a wookie so cool is the mystery behind them: if you can play them that goes away!" Which i call shenanigans on. What makes a wookie cool is its a 8 foot tall mass of fur, fangs, and fury, that rips off peoples arms and beats them to death them when they lose at holo-chess. And ya know Wookie roars. And bowcasters. And everything else about them, other than some cryptic sense of mystery.
  6. Another way to put this is "some people have high expectations". Which is far less inflammatory, and should be true for a game you paid an initial net deposit for access to, and then a running subscription. I expect quality out of a game i pay 50-60 bucks initially for, and then 15 a month. Because there are other games out there that deliver quality for the same or less cost range, and there are new games coming out all the time that might. I don't think this is a bad thing.
  7. I knew it wouldn't be long before the nerf-buff see saw began. Irritating. That said, i'm having a hard time wrapping my head around most of the usual suspects for nerfs. 1) DFA - yes, great damage. Also a delay time, which anyone with half a brain that is looking at the ground can avoid all but about 1 tick of the damage. Great in PVE, or in situations where you take someone by surprise. An opponent paying attention just has to interrupt. or move. 2) Merc Arsenal DPS - tracer missile. Yes it does lots of damage. Yes its a good ability. Its interruptable for one thing, and for another, if its such a problem, why the hell is just about every stack / dps buff / a bunch of skills / OUR GEAR SET 1ST TIER BONUS all focused on tracer missile ? This is a frankenstein of their own creation. Realistically i use tracer probably more than any other single skill, but not to the level that most people complain about. My rotation looks something like: (begin fight) Tracer x 3 (for stacks) Heat Seeking Rail Shot (If heat high, then i'll probably RFS, if heat low, Unload) (Whatever wasn't done above, i'll repeat) Pop Cooldown for next ability is no heat (forget the name) At this point i've usually taken aggro, so chaff flare - if i dont have aggro, Tracer x 2 unload tracer x 1 heat rail At this point i usually start interleaving RFS in between abilities to keep heat around 40% until i'm ready to blow vent heat - at which point i spam tracer to 5 stacks, blow heatseeking, blow rail shot, then unload, then if there's any room left to about 90 heat, another tracer. Vent. Restart. It's not an overwhelming amount. Spamming tracer like people allude to leads to overheating very quickly, and massive DPS loss over an entire boss fight. Its simply not sustainable, even with all the mitigation skills selected. And exactly what are we supposed to switch to if they nerfbat tracer missile damage ? Power shot ? 3) Mercs don't have an interrupt. Some may say "well that is irrelevant", but its not. DPS BH's could make big use of an interrupt and bring more to a raid, etc. 4) Bodyguard mercs - honestly, i can't see anything that is "BS" or "OP" here . They are definitely good, but not up to sorc levels. The guys i run hardmodes with uses a merc bodyguard as our main healer, and he does a great job, but its not like its easy mode - i sometimes, on hard fights, have to jump in with a spot heal here or there, etc. or a medpac if i grab aggro. I can't see whats BS here. 5) Pyro spec - i really cant speak to this, i haven't played with it enough. My understanding is that the burst is good, and its a good PVP spec, but not ideal for PVE. Yes / No / Maybe ? I'd really like to know what it is they are going to tone down.
  8. Agent operative is the closest thing she resembles.
  9. No contest. Republic's Most Wanted.
  10. Can't confirm, but if that's true, there are some very cool possibilities.
  11. Death from above is not instant. There is a delay. It is also a channel. L2Interrupt. The republic version is not instant either, but neither is there a two second delay as claimed. When either AOE pops, if you instantly begin moving, you will get out of it after a tick of damage with no speed bump (if its centered on you - if its unevenly placed, and you go towards the nearest edge, you can avoid damage altogether).
  12. Perfect summation of how i feel. In Rift, crafting did the same thing: gave you entry level end game gear (and some of it could last quite a while! the rogue leather deathbringer armor and ring could last you into hammerknell). I don't understand the decision to make crafting gear superior to raiding...... (and yes, i realize the time sunk into it). Crafting is hitting a couple of buttons and waiting, and hoping the RNG goes your way on RE. It seems kind of counter intuitive.. particularly when we know that eventually the pendulum will swing back the other way (with superior end game stuff in a future patch). Complement, don't compete.
  13. This is very well said, and sums up my opinion. Rift was alllll about endgame. I spent exponentially more time on endgame content than i did leveling. The end game in SWTOR is ... decent. But it's not the engrossing experience of some other MMO's. After a couple pieces of hardmode gear, you can run most of them except a couple. The fights aren't materially different in most aspects, its pretty much 1-2 more mechanics to watch for, no different strat, more hp / more damage output. This game is much more about the journey than the destination. Whether this is good or not depends on PoV. I personally will always spend more time on endgame than leveling, so id prefer a more robust endgame....
  14. Unless you're a bounty hunter. Finished my class quest, first strike, the whole nine yards on bel and illum. Still stuck on chapter 3. I know i'm not the only one.
  15. GW2 is going to take a toll. Maybe not "fall", but take a toll. If Tera plays half as good as it looks, that will take another toll. The combination could be a mean 1-2 punch. Add in Diablo3... Ultimately SWTOR will survive if it gets its house in order. If not, it'll follow the other losing steam (i hate to say "failing -hell people still play DC online and WAR) MMO's.
  16. I feel your pain, i feel the same way, but it's an MMO... and one with precious little grind (there's some, but not so much as others). This is one mini-grind they put in. I'm okay with it. The pieces are 120 each, and if defending the shipment works, you can get, i believe, 25 daily commendations per day. It's really not that bad for three pieces of gear. Though some of the ear pieces are even questionable if you want them, so if that's the case, then its 9 days of grinding the dailies and your done if you don't want to to do them anymore / dont need 23 grade mods.
  17. Honestly, this is the worst its ever been. I was literally angry at the end of the night. At one point, at the end of False Emp, i slung my headset off in disgust. Frankly, if i read someone posting what i posted, i wouldn't believe it either. But me and three other guildies lived it last night, and it sucked. I hope i never have another experience like that again. It was frustrating and took all the fun out of the night of raiding. Which is pretty much the antithesis of what these games strive to be. To me that's a problem ; I hope they are on it.
  18. I like the game. I have fun with it, its got a nice casual raid atmosphere where you don't have to be on your game serious f'ing business 100% of the time, make one slight mis-step = wipe. There's a lot of fun aspects to the game. There's some flaws, some major, some minor. The bugs are KILLING this game. Here's a list of bugs i encountered LAST NIGHT alone running Black Talon and False Emperor hard modes: The bot bonus boss on black talon enraged after 90 seconds on the first try. The hell ? Not even HK on FE enrages that quick. Choosing light side, the first chest with the set of four bosses wonked out and wouldnt let us loot until we LOS'd the chest came back and looted again (note the loot icon would appear when we moused over, but would not actually do anything). Note - no wipes on this pull, so i dont think its related to the old wipe = no chest bug. Using an elevator randomly put me in space and killed me. Twice. Thanks for the 20k repair bill for no reason. Tons of trash mobs in false emperor not dying when you knock them over ledges. I counted five until we just stopped and killed everything. Jindo Krey ... omg this was awful. 1st pull: cannons wouldnt fire no matter hwo many peeps we stacked on them. wipe. 2nd pull: cannons fired, but wouldn't "hit" the ship, and wouldn't force it back. Wipe. 3rd pull: cannons worked! yay! until the ship, after it is destroyed, respawned, and was immune to further cannons. Wipe. 4th pull: by the grace of god, it finally behaved as normal. Malgus: channel bar dissappearing half way through force lighting. Made actually bouncing him really hard (we did manage it, no wipes, took spamming on jet boost and pulse grenade to do it). That's just last night. This is to say nothing of the ongoing Defending the shipment bug, the fact that my BH still has chapter three showing instead of interlude for his class quest, despite having finished all my class, bel and illum series. The balloon on tat, that i had to get around with a juggy friend (thank you forums for bringing that to my attention) Te +4 endurance cron on Hoth having a step that you fall through, and when you /stuck out of it, it pops you back into the jedi enclave. ... so on and so on. Now before anyone says L2P - i've run both of these a half dozen or more times in the last 2 weeks. I know the instances, so do the people involved. They are bugs, not player fault. The bugs, more than anything are going to ruin this for me over a long enough timeline. YOu can't out-innovate bugs, or out implement content over bugs. Please fix the laundry list of bugs the game has over implementing stuff like heavy and medium social gear.
  19. A slight reduction in trash in hardmodes would be nice. I spend more time fighting trash in hardmodes than bosses. That was one nice thing about Rift: you spent a lot of time on the boss fights, and less on trash once you got to end game. I would love to see the boss fights last longer - 2-3 minute enrage timers don't make for a fun battle, its a gear check. I'd love longer, more involved fights with more mechanics, rather than just straight up stat checks.
  20. Yes please! I have 2 50 toons already, working on a 3rd. This is definitely most useful when leveling up, but would still be a welcome addition. While we're at it, let me keep whatever UI window i want up while interacting with other UI windows. It drives me nuts when i'm in the GTN, or vendor, and i can't go to my character tab, or companion tab, or whatever. Just let the user defined open windows tabs stick until the user cancels them. In the same vein: Companion is back from errand: STOP EVERYTHING. Can we cease that please ?
  21. It's not a straw man at all. You state a one line quote (which may not have been a direct quote) from game informer as solid proof that the game is "rocking the industry". I point out a possibly problem with your logic, and i'm setting up a straw-man. Right. Had you quoted 10 sources that were rocking the industry, to wit, or some actual, ya know, empirical data as fact, i'd be inclined to take your argument at face value. Using one reviewer's opinion, with one half-quote, from a magazine that is known to be in-bed with the industry (for god's sake its a subsidiary of a game store!), does not a strawman make of my counter-argument.
  22. Game informer is not unbiased. At all. They are beholden to their big advertisers too. There is no way they are going to jeopardize the big dollars that EA spends on advertising with them. Also "rocking the industry".... so you have some kind of empirical data for that ? Sales figures, subs inscreasing, etc., etc ? You know, financials from the company... ? Because otherwise such a statement is sub-anecdotal. It's a decent game, it's an mmo that is fun but with flaws. My prediction is 3-6 months after Guild Wars 2 drops, it goes FTP. Rift wasn't alive a full year before it went FTP, its how the industry is going as more studios become capable (and willing to risk!) of producing an MMO.
  23. For the love of god, yes please.
