  1. I bought the collectors edition when the game first came out, and never really did anything with it. Other than the digital codes for items and the game discs to install, I never touched any of the other items. I play swtor for a couple months every year or 2 on and off. I just moved to a new home and found the box and went through it and it made me wonder if it's worth anything these days. Or if its just junk. The journal book is still in its wrap, and the darth malgus statue is still in its styrofoam taped up, never been opened. Could I sell the box for anything or should I just hang on to it?
  2. I'm actually happy about the news. Putting star wars in the hands of the likes of Dice and Bioware does not make me freak out at all. I can see Dice making battlefront 3 and bioware possibly making a decent star wars rpg maybe even a new kotor game. And enough with the Madden stuff. Those are sports games, they are all the same. What more is there to do every year than to update the stats, players, rosters, etc? Theres no story, the gameplay hasn't changed, what do you expect? If any other company other than EA had the Madden license, they would be doing the same exact thing. Obviously it's something to be a little guarded about, but the people saying RIP star wars are pretty ridiculous. I for one am happy about this relatively recent spark in interest in star wars, and I think I'm willing to give EA's/Bioware's/Dice's Star Wars try. I liked SWTOR well enough.
  3. I for one love the holiday stuff. I doubt they will next year cuz its kind of chaotic, only 4 months since launch. But I bet in a year or so they will start doing that type of stuff.
  4. Unless I am doing something wrong, I cannot compare what my companion is wearing to what gear I pick up. Whenever I get new loot, I can just hover my mouse over the new item and compare it to what I have equipped. Works great, but I cant do this for my companion. Would it be possible to just have a second bar next to my players comparison that would have my companions comparison?
  5. that says everything I need to know about you right there.
  6. I would like to challenge that statement. Theres no way Alderaan loads in a few seconds. I have a new pc I built and spent 1200 bucks on that can play any game I throw at it, but loading on Alderaan still takes me around 4-5 minutes. Tattooine takes about the same for me as well.
  7. This wasn't really an issue until the legacy system, but now it's going to become a problem. How about instead of having a max of 8 character slots per server, you just have a max of... say, 20 for your whole account. I don't know if 20 would be a good number, but just for the sake of an example, lets just say 20. Server restrictions would still apply of course, but if you chose to, you could apply 16 characters on server, and have 4 left over for any other server you want to put them in. That will solve the problem for the legacy system as well as still keep a limit on how many characters a player can create.
  8. I've played a jedi guardian and now I want to move to the imperial side. But I want to find a server that I know is equally balanced. It would be no fun for me to play in a server that either leans toward either side. Is there somewhere I can see the population of each faction for a server?
  9. is there a reason for this or is it a bug?
  10. Especially when you have players rolling republic who go way dark side, it seems not that far fetched to have cross faction guilds. Also guild leaders like myself won't fret as much about losing members to another faction if we can be a guild that houses all factions.
  11. The people saying Macs aren't for gaming or aren't "optimized" for gaming are full of bantha fodder. The hardware is just as effective for gaming as windows hardware. In fact, it's probably better because all the hardware comes from the same place. When you buy a Windows PC, you are buying all different companies parts that are being put together. It is not a matter if macs are "optimized" for gaming or some bogus nonsense that some people are throwing out. It comes down to the software. Asking for a port of a game for a fast growing operating system is not a ridiculous request. Macs can run swtor just as well as PC's can. In fact, I have a friend with a windows laptop with the same specs as my macbook and my laptop outperforms his when using bootcamp. Saying Macs arent meant for gaming is a pretty uneducated statement, because when you say Mac, you really mean the OS, because the hardware is pretty much the same. The only reason there aren't as many games on the Mac is because they aren't being supported. They are more than capable to play them.
  12. Thanks for the thread! I'll be following it. I'm mostly excited about the guild features talk. Really hoping for some concrete information on guild banks as well as capital ships. I'm pretty much happy with the state of everything else in the game
  13. great thanks for clearing that up for me!
  14. Ok so I understand that in pve you are only allowed to attack others if they are flagged and only in certain areas. But in pvp can a jedi attack another jedi? or can they only attack people who are on the side of the empire and vice versa? Also another question: I play a jedi on a pve server. How come I never see any empire players on planets like tattooine which I'm assuming should be visitable by both the empire and the republic. I also didn't see any on coruscant or any other planet but I'm guessing those are republic controlled and therefore cant be accessed by the empire. I'm only a level 25 right now but I feel like I haven't seen a single empire character on my entire game experience, other than in the warzones. I'm guessing that eventually I will come across them in planets, right? and when I do and none of us our flagged, can we not attack each other, even if I'm a jedi and he's a sith?
  15. what makes you think it will never happen? They are probably holding back on some races because they want to use them in future expansion packs and whatnot. But they cant really get too non human, because that will effect the physics. You cant be a hutt or something because it just isn't realistic or possible. But being a rodarian or mon calamari race doesn't seem impossible, since they fit the humanoid body appearance.
  16. there will ALWAYS be something for the people to complain about. ALWAYS
  17. my friend bought a $450 toshiba laptop from walmart, with a 2.1 dual core, a crappy integrated graphics card and 2 gigs of ram, and can play it absolutely fine. that laptop can definitely more than handle it.
  18. your asking bioware to get rid of content? wow this game is a lose-lose for bioware. it seems every thing they do comes with complaints. EVERYTHING some people just cant be happy
  19. You do realize that the swings in sword fights are not meant to hurt the opponent... not yet at least. The point in a sword (or lightsaber) fight is to disarm the other persons sword (or lightsaber) so they can then achieve a finishing blow. It's much more effective to disarm the person so it's easier to kill them unless you see a gaping hole in a persons defense and there is no need. There is nothing wrong with the fights in the star wars prequels.
  20. I know a new live action series between episodes 3 and 4 were supposed to happen and they got delayed. george lucas said they were going to wait until technology would make a star wars tv show look good with a lower budget. so it will be a few years. but i'm excited for that.
  21. Many people hate on the prequels and say that they are an abomination that should have never happened. But almost everything we know about the jedi are from the prequels (aside from the books) If all you go by is the original, then all you know about the jedi is obi-wan who is an old man, and yoda who has a very minimal (but important) presence in the trilogy. The prequels showed us the jedi council, all the different types of jedi and they're roles and how they live. It expanded the lore greatly. It seems that so many people embrace all the nuances and foundations that the prequels gave us about star wars yet those people claim to hate the prequels. It doesn't make sense. Yes, there was an annoying little anakin, and a kind of annoying older anakin, and yes there were gungans, but even though the prequels held some embarassing moments, it left us with an general understanding of star wars that we cherish. Much of the swtor is more based off swtor than the original trilogy to be honest. Politics of the jedi council, and the sith uprising, these are all concepts stemmed from the prequels. And there is a lot more. I think people just think gungans and pod racers when they think of the prequels and forget about all the great moments those movies gave despite the not so great.
