  1. This is also not true. Try tanking in pt with a generator. Not going to happen. Moreover, if this were the case, then there would only be 2 true dps classes in the game: sniper and marauder.
  2. I think you think that shielding is better than it is. Most damage you take in pvp is not mitigated by shields, thus making shields significantly less important in pvp. What is so significant about igc is the raw damage reduction that it offers.
  3. IMO buy a razer. Best gaming peripheral I've EVER bought. Keys may seem a bit counterintuitive, but they're based on which buttons I get to most easily. I also have abilities that I don't want to waste or that are more strategic based on cooldowns a bit harder to reach so I don't hit them accidentally. numpad 1-10 1: railshot macroed in front of rapid shots, never miss a railshot cd 2: flame burst 3: quell 4: rocket punch 5: all buffs macroed in front of incendiary missile 6: flame thrower 7: explosive dart 8: flame sweep 9: death from above 10: vanilla rapid shots (for heat management) 11: single taunt 12: aoe taunt alt+numpad8: oil slick alt: numpad4: unload r: jet charge g: carbonize f: grapple `: electro-dart x: throw huttball z: stealth scan t: vent heat 1: determination 2: energy shield 3: kolto overload 4: medpack I'm sure that sounds crazy, and maybe it is, but it works awesome. I typically get top medals, top protection and dps within the top 3 as st/pt hybrid. I think you guys call it something to do with parrots? Dunno, I've been running it since launch before it became a big thing on the forums.
  4. iron fist still likes a dps set, so I don't know what the concern is. Alternatively you could run a deep pyro spec and still benefit from the PPA rail shots boosted by the eliminator set bonus.
  5. /convinced Thanks My big issue was the reusables and trinkets for pvp, but if some of the more interesting schematics are available through pve, then I might enjoy seeking them out.
  6. Like the title says. Convince me why I shouldn't do this. I thought cyber was going to be more like enchanting, but it's definitely NOT. I will never be able to make a level 54 mod, but they come for free in tiered purples. Booo
  7. lol neither of those posts have to do with shield tech. I think the best ST/AP hybrid looks like this: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301GkGbdRbogZMsMMo.1
  8. should swap it with oil slick and buff oil slick imo. The 31 point ability in a tank tree should be something TANKY. Make oil slick like 50% chance to miss and put it at 31, keep heat blast the way it is and put it at 11.
  9. pyro has the most ranged potential, but like the above poster said, you still have to get in close for rocket punch, since so many of PTs procs are based off of RP
  10. procs off of incendiary missile while you're running IGC, champ.
  11. Yeah I couldn't disagree more with OP. I'm playing an ST/pyro hybrid and I'm rolling face. So many awesome tactical options, crazy mitigation and heavy damage. I come out of most warzones with 9-12 medals.
  12. You're not missing anything. It's a trash ability. Better to hybrid into pyro for the 30% armor penetration rail shot that vents 8 heat and costs nothing.
  13. Ion, and you will want to balance shield proc chance with surge for those big crits and heat / rocket punch procs. More rocket punch = more railshot = more heat vented. It's all woven together, but it still rests on shields proccing.
  14. don't forget shooting them with a massive, magnet propelled round in the back of the head when they try to run away.
  15. start here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=81046
  16. The ST/Pyro hybrid build is definitely better. Gives you many more options for defensive plays in pvp like guard, and also a good balance of survivability and dps. Remember that pvp is not a dps race. It is a survival game.
  17. No disrespect, but you couldn't be doing it any more wrong. Check through the forums for some viable specs. Start here: http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=81046
  18. I fully plan on doing the ST / pyro spec when I get back to my computer post-Holidays. I'm intrigued by all the stuff that seems to require CGC proccing off of incendiary missile. Seems like a huuuge advantage in pvp for when you can't quite manage to close the gap or you're getting kited and your jet charge/grapple are on cooldown.
  19. I have a solidstate drive, and my loading screens are less than 5 seconds.
  20. It's also going to affect flame sweep. I don't know why more people don't use flame sweep. I know it has a high heat requirement, but if I land in a 2v1, it's my go to. So that 30% crit is more than just the rocket punch, it's also your "I'm going down in a blaze of glory" skill. The other thing about armor penetration vs. crit damage is that it's dependent on the type of character you're attacking. AP doesn't matter as much to light armored opponents while +crit will affect light armor more. Really though, I think we need more data and, eventually, some parsing before we can compare things like crit damage and armor penetration.
  21. big hits on those rail shots and thermal detonators
  22. @BMaster, I feel like you're giving up a lot not taking the 30% extra crit on flame sweep and rocket punch. Also, those two points for 16% armor should definitely go into either reduced cd on kolto/absorption or straight up 2% mitigation. I'm gradually being swayed by the pyrotech hybrid however, especially since you can proc all the "burning" requirements off of incendiary missile, which is also something to do from range.
