  1. You get the best gear from raiding or pvping. None of that gear has alignment restrictions on it that I have seen. My Sentinel is full light, but after seeing that it made little difference at the end my Vanguard and Scoundrel are lightish. More light than dark, but I don't bother making choices based on a white star or black/red triangle. I do what makes sense for the situation and the character. Sometimes, my scoundrel needs to make a profit. Sometimes, my Vanguard just kills the bad guy if he doesn't have orders to take him alive. The military solution is not always the Lightside one.
  2. Tanno Vik for trooper. M1-4X will agree with any "kill Imperials" option, dark side or not. Akaavi Spar for smuggler. Also Risha if the dark side option is about money.
  3. Only 51 kills? Looks like more than anyone else. How many times do you think the opposition is going to line up to get slaughtered? I'd say 51 is pretty good, when you look at the kills everyone else on both teams had.
  4. My scoundrel has said it a few times. Always after picking option 3, which tends to be the meanest response. He's lightside. Mostly. Good is not always nice.
  5. You should have Shoot First at your level. Use that. At 40, going the scrapper route, you should get Flechette round. That adds a dot and armor penetration to shoot first and back blast. You can apply it while stealthed.
  6. I think it's one of the stock sayings, but it always gets a chuckle out of me. "You people are a whole new level of hopeless."
  7. Is there an even remotely good reason that Sentinel/Marauder and Shadow/Assassin are the only ACs that cannot use talent points to raise their primary statistic? My first character is my Sentinel. It was only after I created and played other classes that I realized almost every other single one could use points to raise their primary statistic an extra 6% or 9%, most on the bottom level of the tree, easily accessible. If not on the bottom level, then they are next one up. The shadow/assassin lack of willpower is even worse when sage/sorc get theirs in the "shared" tree. At least the +str for Juggs/Guards is in a tree Sent/Mara have no access to. I can think of a few lackluster talents on the bottom layer of the Sentinel trees that can be replaced with a far more useful 2-4-6% Str increase.
  8. Right there I stopped reading. 1 point blank aoe mez and 1 channeled stun is effective? Or the roots you need to spec for in a tree that is rarely played? How many cc's do you get as a sage or sorc?
  9. I recently picked up a D-3 Searing Disintegrator. It was a random drop. Already had a Rancor Disruptor with tank stats, use the D-3 with DPS stats. I like the look. Short scope, and 3 barrels. I like to imagine that 1 is used for hammershot, full auto and HIB. 1 for mortar volley and explosive round, and 1 for ion pulse and pulse cannon.
  10. QFT. If you can't handle merc, who gets a healer at level 7-8, you would never survive as a sentinel. You get Doc in act 2. And Sentinel aoe sucks big time.
  11. Bowdaar does okay, as a scoundrel I can drop a heal on him if need be, but with Corso I rarely have to do even that. Armormech, so keeping myself and Corso geared up is way easier for me. Just got Risha. Made her some armor. Will probably use her a lot more than either tank anyway.
  12. I might be ok with it if all classes had the same amount of CC, but when some classes get multiple stuns, and roots, and a KB, and others get...a pb aoe mez and 1 channeled stun, and roots you need to spec for in an otherwise sub par tree. At least we get a snare. But you know the thing about snares? Anyone who is snared can still fight back. Maybe not optimally, but you have options. As a Sentinel or Marauder, you are at the mercy of cc far more than you utilize it. A rooted melee with no attacks past 10m may as well be stunned if no one is close enough to fight.
  13. Yesterday my team (Republic) won a Voidstar that was 0-0. Neither team breached the first set of doors. We attacked first. The closest anyone came was when the Imperial team planted a bomb but we disarmed it. Perhaps that is a factor. I was surprised we got the win. It's probably the digital equivalent of a coin toss.
  14. I play a Sentinel. You could not miss the point more. This isn't about my target standing still or moving. This is about me being stunned or knocked around like a cue ball. Play a class with no KBs and 1 channeled stun. Then tell me how much fun Huttball is.
  15. Kira Carson, the JK companion, has a + to Treasure Hunting critical and not research, making her useful for Artifice.
  16. I quit Huttball, because I hate Huttball. It isn't fun for me. I should play a game that isn't fun? I do it right when I get in. Not mid-way through the match.
  17. You know who likes huttball? People with knockbacks. You don't get one as a scoundral, so you don't like Huttball. I play a Sentinel, a Vanguard, and Scoundral. Sent is the only 50. I don't like Huttball either. Melee without knockback are the least fun classes to play Huttball. Spend the entire game flying off ledges. I guess you can always just not go on ledges, but then you can't carry the ball or kill the other teams runner when they are on a ledge, so you aren't helping much. Huttball with the Van isn't terrible, but the harpoon and hold the line are the only things that make it worth it.
  18. 50 Zabrak Sentinel here. But with the hood, you would have to get close to know.
  19. Jorgan. He has officer training and leadership experience. His demotion was a load of crap, he ended up getting punished for stuff that wasn't his fault. He didn't defect to the Empire, and he wasn't even in Havoc so how could he know what they were up to? Colonels don't usually confide their plans to Lt's after all. Anyway, as the XO, his job is to lead the rest of the squad while I'm off doing the hero thing, and I usually take Dorne. I'm a Vanguard, heals make me happy. Not the best idea to have the 2 top officers in an outfit off at the same time on high risk missions. Anyway, it gives him a job in the squad besides shoot stuff. Dorne has a job already, to heal me. Anyway Jorgan has seniority, both in the squad and in the Republic military. Shortly after I started a relationship with Elara, and she didn't even bring up the lack of promotion. I assume she got over it.
  20. Sentinel was my first character. Got him to 50, finished all quests, PVP some, raid a bit, typical late game stuff. Started some alts. Have a 40 Vanguard and a 25 Scoundrel. Those 2 characters breeze through PvE content that my Sent had to struggle through. Part of it is already knowing the quests and mobs, of course, but they easily solo heroics that my Sentinel had no chance at. My Vanguard got his healer companion on Taris. TARIS! Between that and actual useful AoE, he is a killing machine. DPS might be lower than my sentinels was, but he lives through fights and kills groups faster, and an early heal pet means practically no downtime. As for the Scoundrel, well, I wouldn't say it's an OP class, I mean he isn't high enough to get any of the instajib skills we all know and love, but real stealth and healing combined with solid DPS and a tank companion that's easy to gear up? Yeah, that's not useful at all. Fact is, I didn't know Sentinel was harder until I saw how much easier other classes had it.
  21. They are a pretty good 1v1 class, but pvp is rarely balanced 1v1. Usually I wait until they open up on someone else, then jump in and lay the smackdown on them. Sure, it's nice to help someone in a jam, but mostly I just like attacking them when they least expect it, so they know how much that sucks. On a serious note, when you have good enough gear that your health is 15k+, you can survive the initial cc and pop some defensive cds, that should keep you alive long enough to either get help, get away, or fight back.
  22. My Vanguard is Rico. He was Lt. Rico for a long time. I admit, I find the movie Starship Troopers to be mindlessly entertaining. I read the book, too. Totally different.
  23. I didn't promote her, and I still got the romance going shortly after. Jorgan has the training and experience to be a leader, plus he is the longest active serving member of the squad, next to the PC. I'm not promoting someone who I feel is less qualified just to get some. At any rate, she seemed to get over it quickly enough. She did quote a regulation right as we started to hook up, of course.
  24. Being 4 levels higher than everything I was fighting is the only thing that made leveling tolerable as a combat Sentinel. Class quests, particularly.
