  1. Endgame in SWTOR is bad. Why do you spend 95% of your time levelling to 50 through questing and story, then all of a sudden you are told to raid or warzone pvp? (ilum doesnt count as its a joke). That is the fundamental problem with theme park mmos, they cant possible keep the core gameplay going after 50, so they put you on the gear treadmill with dailies and other crap to try and keep you subbed. - Space combat is incredibly dull and repetitive. - There are only 3 warzones, this is pathetic! warhammer released with way more scenarios. - Ilum and "rvr" does not work in this game. The modified hero engine that bioware created simple cannot handle many players in one area. Infact the engine can barely handle the current 8v8 warzones. - Ilum is just 1 pvp lake which is boring, once again warhammer had more with 9 t4 lakes + 6 forts + 2 cities. - Flashpoints and ops are not dynamic gameplay, they are addictive until you get your gear then its over and you've finished with them. Not that many people enjoy hardcore raiding anyway, so why not make the endgame pve way more difficult to satisfy that crowd? at the moment its very easy. - Datacrons are not engame, they are a poor attempt at exploration mechanics. They should have copied RIFT or a game like ryzom. Players stay subbed to mmos mainly for the community, realm pride and dynamic gameplay...none of which exist in this game. However bioware chose the easy route to game design and created a gear treadmill, and this thread is evidence that people think dailies are acceptable, which is actually quite sad. The only reason this game is as successful as it is, is because the star wars IP has pulled in a heap of casual gamers who have never played mmos before. And if you are one of these people, then power to you and i hope you enjoy the game. For everyone else who has been gaming for a long time swtor was a fun ride to 50 but not worth sticking around for any longer.
  2. because alot of classes have better defensive bonuses than others.
  3. Not everyone is suppose to be able to do everything in Huttball, get over it. Some classes are better at carrying, some are better at defending. Some get range advantage on the catwalks, some classes can get to the ball quicker, or jump up ledges or do a whole bunch of things. Why does everyone want every class to be the same? is this what mmos have come to? this is suppose to be a team game, work as a team and make sure everyone is doing what their class is suppose to do.

    Purely amazing.

The story and voice overs are nice, but when you take that away what do you end up with? about 1% of what you do in this game is dialogue, the rest of the game is incredibly shallow. Fact is, warhammer launched with way more scenarios than this game and had alot more diverse gameplay with questing + pqs + rvr + scens. Rift also was better with quests + rifts + exploration in a proper non instanced world + warfronts and dungeons. The point i'm trying to make is that bioware focused entirely on what they do, voice overs and dialogue options, but the reality is that in an mmo, that should not be the core focus as its not what your doing the vast majority of the time playing the game. But swtor will be a casual audience success because its super easy to finish this game (class quest). But the casuals wont be around in 6months time keeping this game alive, its the PVP audience and to a lesser extent the raiders that are the ones to keep mmos going for years. 3 warzones and the broken open world pvp area Ilum which is the most fail attempt at RVR i have ever seen. Thats really not alot of content, and they still cant get it right.
  5. This is wrong, no one from the mythic dev team is working on dominus apart from someone from the community management team, and she is just running the forums and community events. The guys working on dominus however are massive fans of DAOC. Also anyone that thinks WAR pvp is worse than this game are completely out of their minds and obviously didn't play WAR.
  6. People need to stop saying this. WoW is not the only mmo, it came out in 2004. Its 2012, if you are trying to make a wow clone and you dont release with a full feature set then your game is going to fail.
  7. Bioware please don’t let the vocal minority convince you that they speak for everyone. Don’t let them steer you away from the vision that space combat should be a part character progression and fun. I’m confident you can do some cool things with it like turning it into a space combat sim like previous star wars games such as x-wing. Many players don't enjoy the arcade play style that space combat is now and want it to change to how it should be. Space combat sims do not have to be as complicated as some vocal minorities are saying they are on this forum. A mouse and a keyboard is all that is necessary. WASD + mouse + plus a single hotbar would be enough to play a space combat sim game. If you can control your character in swtor, then you will find space sim combat a breeze! The difficulty in space sims is from being able to shoot down different enemies and targets, learning your keybinds is the easy part. Right now space combat is on rails, one dimensional and has very little replay value. Its not seamless at all. All of a sudden i am controlling my ship with just my mouse? and someone else is flying it? what is this? aren't i suppose to be the captain of my ship? What on earth is the replay value of any of these missions when the EXACT SAME THING HAPPENS EVERY TIME. Space pvp gameplay would run for the same amount of time current warzones go for, 15mins. PVE/COOP missions could run anywhere from 5mins to 30mins depending on complexity. And if you think that is a long time, do yourself a favour and /played and get some perspective. Space combat should not be "something to do in your downtime". Space combat is an integral part of STAR WARS. It should be a huge part of the game. A fully fleshed out space game could add so much more to swtor. More crafting options, more pvp, more pve with friends and more dynamic and emergent gameplay. X-Wing, Tie Fighter, X-wing vs Tie Fighter, X-Wing Alliance and Star Wars Galaxies are all proof of the legacy that lucasarts has formed through the space combat genre. The star wars IP deserves more focus on this aspect of the universe. Keep the current on rails gametype for the people that want it. But focus development on space sim gameplay, which is what the core star wars fanatics want, what the license deserves and what will keep a huge percentage of the population subscribed for many years to come.
  8. Have you guys even been in a large scale fight yet? its a complete slideshow with crappy fps, even warhammer was way better than this at launch. Until they improve performance then not sure how they are going to improve RVR.
  9. Rifts first few months was a million times better than swtors, patches deployed in less than 30mins. And trust me when i say GW2 will NOT have the same period of fixes and tweeks. Ive played guild wars proph since it first came out and arena net are super quick at patching and there is never any downtime. Their patching system is excellent.
  10. They did, i cant remember the link but they talked about bringing in free roaming space missions with coop, maybe for pvp aswell. They also said it probably wont be like x-wing/tie fighter but more like rogue squadron. I dont think your going to be able to travel between planets with this system however.
  11. It would take bioware all of 30 seconds to fix being able to jump out of the republic spawn, but they cant be bothered to do so. IMO everyone should just keep using the exploit until they fix it. Force biowares hand.
  12. energy management system is fine, op is just a bad /endthread
  13. I grew up playing x-wing, tie fighter, wing commander etc. This on rails stuff in swtor is fun for about 5mins then it gets boring. Put in proper x-wing series gameplay and you will be entertained for a very long time, trust me. And no, you would not have to use a joystick. They could easilly map the controls to keyboard + mouse aswell like they did way back then.
  14. its not a big deal, it shouldn't even be in the game at all. It detracts from the overall polish of the game, theres absolutely no need to make the player click/press sprint every single time they respawn in pvp.
  15. Can bioware please make it so the ability Sprint stays on after you die? having to rebuff every time you die in a warzone is getting old. They could also go a step further and make sprint a passive ability and just leave the buff on the entire time. Simple change to make and it'll improve the game.
  16. This is the dumbest argument i have ever heard. There is always a gear requirement to get to the next dungeon, in every mmo. And people will always advertise the required gear or stat to enter it. Adding expertise doesn't make it any harder at all.
  17. hits 90s onboard your ship? and gets into the 20s in a warzone im guessing lol. I have an asus gtx 260 216sp, 110fps on a ship, 50fps in fleet, 20-30fps in a warzone. Im also running an amd 960t 3ghz quad, 1600mhz 8gig ram on a 990FXA board. For whatever reason, a gtx 260 will run this game like crap. I think its probably a driver issue.
  18. 590 is actually about AU$900, and getting more than 8gig of ram isnt going to increase performance.
  19. I have a X4 960T 3ghz (3.4 if it wants to turbo), and it only uses 2 cores at about 70%. I honestly have no idea whats going on its barely pushing my cpu but my fps is not so great. Video card is a gtx260 216sp, which is a 2008 card but its not slow. Can play battlefield on medium settings and be over 30fps in 64 player games the entire time.
  20. As far as im aware, swtor only uses 2 cores. Id really like to see a screenshot and system specs of your pc.
  21. +1 modding system is awesome, no reason to remove it from endgame.
  22. Ive been to ilum at lvl 25 just to check it out, capped the entire zone by myself lol. Didn't get banned, so i'm thinking the OP did some exploiting or hacking.
  23. Rather than comparing swtor to wow, i think it would serve everyone better comparing it to warhammer seeming mythic worked on that too. In that game there were immunity timers and cc that broke on damage. Those things should be in swtor aswell.
