  1. Apparently you and 1.5 million other people lol.
  2. They'll probly have to buff recruit gear or give away BM gear eventually... The current system of "get curbstomped for a couple weeks" won't be encouraging many free players to pay $15 a month for the exciting PvP.
  3. Story was the only unique thing about TOR and apparently it doomed it. MMO players only want instance grinds and PvP ladders... Most of the players I have encountered openly admit: "Spacebar is their best friend." You are delusional if you think they are gonna produce story content of the quantity and quality we've seen previously. The dev team got gutted. All the new content they announced for post F2P was started on well before the mass layoffs. They had a trailer for the new op and planet back at E3 and data miners found the HK companion at launch. Now that it's going free to play they aren't going to pour more money into this, it'll be all about the margins. $10 Luke's land speeder and $5 Vader's helmet are the "content" you can expect. Grinding the same Ops/FPs for 6 months until the next $20 xpac are what you can expect. After they milk whatever was in the pipeline you won't be seeing sweeping content updates. If you are lucky this time next year you'll get a new Hutt planet with neutral faction quest hubs and all the quest givers speaking huttese with you having the option to either "Nod" "Shoot Him" or "Refuse Quest"
  4. If you managed to go 8 months without finding this out it's probably not that big deal. Edit: If it's any consolation the Republic set looks like *** and the Imperial set doesn't suit any of the playable classes... well maybe Sith Warrior. But if I was a Dark Lord of the Sith I wouldn't be sporting the same armor as the cannon fodder.
  5. All I'm playing atm is alts anyway. The commendation grind got old fast. As long as the inconveniences aren't too outrageous I'll stop the sub and just finish out the story line on my last 4 alts... If they end up going with crazy restrictions like no mail, deactivate my non-human toons, or remove the legacy perks then I guess I'd pay until I finish the game with those last 4 classes before I uninstall. I'll go to youtube to see how the new (last) ops finishes the dread masters storyline from denova... assuming there's anyone left to post such a video.
  6. When I finished the class quest on my Jedi Knight there was this big ceremony. Bioware must've forgot to put up "The End" and play the credits after it, but I knew they were supposed to be there. That's when.
  7. It's fairly obvious that if they haven't been working on this by now then it's never gonna happen. They'll be trimming the budget on all fronts and I guarantee VO work will be greatly reduced. I expect a lot of future quest givers will be speaking Huttese and there's no way they gonna pay for a couple dozen hours of VO for something only a portion of the playerbase will see.
  8. F2P isn't the reason the game is going to fail.. it's admitting it already has failed.
  9. Dead Island should have taught you that fancy trailers do not a game make.
  10. Now there's a dark and bleak future for you.
  11. MMOs weren't popular before WoW. MMOs other than WoW are nowhere near as popular. The sooner devs figure out that MMO players are actually a niche market the better. The Old Republic could have been Knights of the Old Republic III meets Dragon Age Origins with the multiple class story arcs... a contender for GOTY. But instead it's just another in a long line of failed MMOs chasing after WoW money. WoW is an anomaly and the idea of MMOs being "popular" is a fad. Eventually we'll look back on it like we do Nintendo Wii and wonder what all the fuss was about.
  12. The main issue will be when they run out of content that's already being worked on. Looking back on the E3 announcement: new Ops, new WZ, new planet, new space mission, new companion... sounds like they were pushing every team to do one last round of content before they axed the whole department. I'd wager after one last super patch goes live we'll be left with 10 guys keeping the lights on and adding Boba Fett costumes to the cash shop. F2P games don't get 200 man dev teams pushing out quality content every other month. Not that they were actually delivering that before F2P.
  13. Good luck getting new WZs after they downsize the PvP team to one guy lol.
  14. Champions Online was a pretty great time... it was the first MMO I played where there was just one giant server so none of this transferring crap. They were able to do that in 2009 and I was shocked it never caught on. The multi-server model was a big factor in the death of TOR.
  15. So if I cancel/switch to F2P are you going to automatically delete all my Rakata/War Hero gear?
  16. It's my least favorite to run. You spend 80% of the time on your speeder running past stuff. Pretty sure the only chat I ever see in any flashpoint are "Spacebar is your friend" and "We can skip those" They've definitely turned into a chore faster than they did in WoW. And personally the race to the end mentality is what has done it for me. I've gotten vote kicked for not spacebarring and vote kicked for wanting to do a boss that literally would have been dead in the time we spent arguing about it. I'm clearly in the minority but I think Bioware should fix it so you can't skip entire areas of mobs (especially bosses I mean that's ridiculous). Otherwise why not just remove the trash altogether or spawn in at the final boss... or just give people BH comms automatcally for waiting in a queue once a day.
  17. There needs to be more threads about LI difficulty. Here's some suggested titles: Save Lost Island from the bads! LI L2P B4 SWTOR F2P or if you are pro nerf: OMG Stop vote kicking me because I'm melee! You already got a Rakata chest why can't I have one?
  18. That's what PvP servers are for... they can't out and out label them "Griefer v Lowbie" Presumably that's why you rolled there too.
  19. When you hit valor 40 you can buy ranked comms. But yea probably 10+ Levels where all you can do is stockpile WZ medpacks and adrenals.
  20. There's two kinds of PvPers: People who love it and people who are grinding out dailies and weeklies. After you lose 6 games there's no incentive for the second group for staying in losing games. Make the weekly games played as well and you'd probably solve the "epidemic." All a penalty does is turn quitters into afkers... put someone on follow and attack every couple minutes.
  21. After another 3 hour round of wipes to the first boss I've sworn it off. I would say the main problem is that if you can one shot this boss atm there is no reason to. You most likely already have the rakata chest or have access to EV HM gear. Even when I actually cleared the place with a group of raid geared people the hours we dumped into this did not equal the reward. Honestly the biggest indicator that the first boss needs a nerf is how comparatively easy the rest of the instance is. Reduce the droid's health by 10% and reduce the number of lightning balls so that melee dps isn't as much of a handicap and it would be in line with the other bosses. Even if you think it doesn't need a nerf I think you'd agree that lightning ball and incinerate should share a cd. That's just an incredibly cheap combo not an "interesting challenge"
  22. False Emperor and The Foundry for the story. The Battle of Ilum because its fast. Maelstrom Prison was satisfying finally sticking it to Kilran. Lost Island would be a fun challenge if not for the cheap first boss. It's more frustrating than fun atm but the last boss is the most interesting FP boss imo.
  23. Ranked gives you as many comms for a loss as a regular win so if you can do it you should. The rank is pretty meaningless.. epeen stroking and different colored versions of ugly gear.
  24. It's the way world bosses are... it's an outdated mechanic people claim to "miss" from the Everquest era. WoW's even adding a bunch next Xpack. At least the respawn is a few hours instead of a few days lol.
  25. I did it one time back when I was running in a guild. Since I'm melee I only got a spot if they were desperate. It's far and away more difficult than the other hard modes and you should not be able to queue for it until you have at least finished the story mode version so you have an idea. Half the people I've gotten are in Tionese at best and of course have never done it. I'll only attempt it once a week via LFG since if I tried it every night I'd be broke from the repair bills.
