  1. yo varisite

doesn't it get annoying changing your color on everything?

I mean for one block post it's one thing, but that quote you have on the second page must have taken you like ten minutes

i'd say stop but I know you won't, but i honestly keep thinking you're some sort of forum mod. Get noticed by your words/insight/desire to play AP instead of your obnoxious text color

  2. Great thread you guys have going here, some really good info. First i want to ask which cell are you guys running with the Carolina Parakeet build, as i am a 50 Vanguard and a 20 BH. Second is there much of a dps difference between the iron fist (which i am running now and just love) and the Carolina Parakeet,or is it just more of a range deal. Also which pvp set would work best for the Carolina Parakeet?. Thanks Taugrim these are great guide's and really usefull threads running on both the Vanguard and Power Tech boards.

Parakeet is usually using ion to make use of guard, but occasionally you can swap if you're all alone. Parakeet is a more offensive than Iron fist, but iron fist is a little more defensive with the 2% damage reduction. As parakeet i'm using the supercommando set with all of the Surge mods/enhancements from the dps gloves. This works for me cause I guard a lot, but some people seem to going after the merc dps gear, the one with the 15% increased rail shot crit chance. I like my supercommando stuff though, cause i usually run with friends and i always use guard.

  3. oh my god flashpoints are one thing but never go parakeet for ops your DPS isn't high enough to warrant it

Sometimes on fights that are all unshieldable (soa etc) I go a modified iron fist spec; giving up 10% shield in favor of 2% damage reduction is awesome. Last I heard 31 ST does more DPS than the hybrids as long as you flamethrower on cooldown but I haven't seen any math behind it.

  4. I used Columi gear. It gives a bit more protection then the PvP stuff does. Not to mention a nice 4 pc damage reduction bonus.

this is the key. you can't spec parakeet and jump in the fp's with green stuff. Once you're columi you already outgear most of the hard modes so you can just gear that place and spec practically whatever you want

  5. If you haven't already make A + D your strafe keys. You can (and should) turn with your mouse. Q + E are awesome keybinds.

You should put kolto overload + energy shield on keybinds that are easy to press together, likewise for offensive stuff. Shift F and shift G for the two defensives is a pretty awesome plan. using ESDF makes tab targeting pretty difficult.

Bind a key to "target nearest enemy" (i use q). You'll thank me later

edit: I think keybinds are something you should make up yourself to be really good at it, but here's a screen shot for you http://i.imgur.com/ZD57D.jpg

  6. I have a level 10 agent and i'm split between sniper and operative. The damage part of op doesn't appeal to me I don't think, but to be honest the agent class is underplayed so I don't know much about it.

Lots of hots are cool. Healing seems straight forward. Does it work well, or is it poorly designed (i've heard that)? What separates you from sorcs and mercs? Is TA as terrible as my friend makes it out to be?

If I ever do respec, the operative is mainly a melee dps class. Does it have any good utility? I play a powertech, so while I get stealth and i'm not looking for straight up grapples/charges, do I have any cool buttons/abilities to change the tide of games? Or am I a straight up melee blow you up cannon?

also, who's got a cool SS of their operative? My char is type 3 and beefy so he'd look really lame if he walked around with his little shiv out all the time. Do healing ops carry around their shotgun? SHOW ME YA MOVES

  7. PvP we tend to be fine; that is to say we definitely last longer than other classes.

In PVE we definitely have worse defensives than juggs do, but that hasn't stopped me so far. I've main tanked all the 8 man bosses on all difficulties. My Jugg friend has an easier time during CD phases (like foreskin crusher's frenzy) but i'm no where near unhealable during them.

  8. powertech is an awesome class that will let you have fun with the pvp tanking functions.

Merc trades some survivability for a healing tree. Merc is a RANGED class whereas powertech should be thought of as a melee class until you play enough to say otherwise.

personally I think powertech is the more fun class.

  9. Parakeet isn't a leveling spec, mainly because the things that make it a good spec are impossible to get at the same time until the 40s. Level as a pure DPS, either Prototype or Pyro. ST is viable, (anything is viable for leveling), but the dps trees are more fun.
  10. Defense and Absorption, while king in PvE doesn't do much in PvP. You're better off putting the stats into DPS or End. Endurance is almost never wasted in PvP.

this is the truth. But now that I'm finally wearing my full supercommando set with full surge enhancements, my question is *** is the difference in sets? I haven't looked super close, but is the supercommando set a higher stamina with the "baked in" armorings?
