  1. Why should anyone have to alter them game play over an unwanted mechanic?
  2. The very first Everquest 'events' consisted of a GM controlling an essentially invincible character running around a medium level zone killing everyone while the L50's gathered to finally kill him. I am not sure how many times I was killed directly and by AoE while trying to do the normal quest line to level up. It destroyed my whole evening of play and only a very few of the L50's ever got any reward. Events like this are only fun for a select few and the "risk vs reward" has to be carefully managed.
  3. I was able to run the game on my i7 gaming laptop fairly well except with about a half second of lag when I started an action even on low. Most of the time this wasn't an issue but getting away from the female Jedi in BT was almost impossible. So I bought an i7 gaming desktop so I could raid... When I d/l 1.2 to my laptop so I could do some running around while working on my desktop I found that the laptop was now pooched, things were incredibly jerky and there was no way I could play with it.
  4. Like everything else, the issue is choice. I can't opt out if I choose not to participate. The plague event should have been flagged with an opt out choice. If they did that, all the problems would have gone away. Ultimately it is a PvP attack you can't avoid. Oh and at high levels I have no problems with credits but at lower levels there were times when I had to scramble to pay the fuel cost to get questing...
  5. True. Rift couldn't do EU/US character transfers because the servers were physically isolated however there should be a work-around. I worked for a multi-national oil company and they managed to upgrade software patch email servers etc at different times for different countries.
  6. This patch was for the free weekend... They have these amazing things called 'shift work' and 'overtime' that allow for actual work to be done after 5 PM. I know because I worked the miracle of shift work for a chunk of my life... BW should really consider splitting patch times based on where the server pop is located. Especially considering how much shift work goes on in East Edmonton...
  7. I've found 3 sabotage locations, usually one is still ok but this week all 3 are bugged.
  8. I believe they are adding dailies on Corellia in 1.2
  9. I think it's great that you are adding new dailies but don't you think you should fix the two, Sabotage and defending the Shipment, on Ilum that bug out? I understand that coding is complex but you're saying 'we don't know how to fix these' which doesn't engender a lot of confidence in your player base. As they say, it only takes one 'aw sh*t' to wipe out a lot of 'attaboys' and the bugged quests are what people tend to discuss...
  10. Silly people... the new gear will be Ludicrous Gear!
  11. I always played a tank/off tank usually a Shadowknight equivalent until I played a mage in rift. Didn't like the glass cannon aspect, i enjoy a little survivability. I chose a merc for that reason, a fair amount of hit points and the ability to survive for a bit if necessary. It's the closest thing to a Shadowknight, I like doing damage and if we are three manning Old Enemies I can take the hits while he gets dps'd down. I absolutely do not want the responsibility of healing, I play for fun, not to be stressed.
  12. I sit mine of a nice inexpensive cooling fan tray which are readily available for laptops. Heat can be managed... As another poster said, I travel for work and need something portable. I'd love to just play on a desktop that costs the same as my laptop but life always manages to interfere...
  13. I play on an HP I7 gaming laptop with a Radeon HD 6770M graphics adapter and a 5400 RPM hard drive. I run with everything set on low. It works fine for regular play but I try to raid on my son's i5 desktop. The reason being that I seem to have a half second delay between the time I hit the key to run and the time I actually move and the AoE will kill you by then...
  14. Sure, SWTOR is a newly released game. But no game is truly 'new', they are all based on previous games. In EQ1 level 1 rogues used to be able to sneak in and ninja loot Nagafen so raid members only looting systems were born. People argued over who got loot so NbG rolling systems were born. Guilds used to camp weekly spawns and fight over the boss so instances were born. People were handing out end of game to low levels so gear level restrictions were born. Guilds farmed bosses so BoP loot was born. Sincere errors get made in looting and so the ability to pass loot to eligible raid members was born. etc... etc... Unfortunately BioWare has left out too many of the things that have historically been shown to work in MMOs. They shouldn't have.
  15. I couldn't agree more with the loot assignment situation. Last night we did our first 16 man Normal modes. I got assigned a columi off-hand that i already have. The other two mercenaries both needed it. At least Rift has the option of handing loot to another eligible player within a set time frame. SWTOR should have released with the same system. It's not new, works good and should have been a no brainer. Nothing is more frustrating than to see boss loot get wasted... On hard modes it's worse. We have to go to a net based random number generator to decide who wins in tied DKP situations because there's no mechanism internally...
