  1. If the math is the reason for the delay in the queue popping than its not a big deal. If the system is set up to prefer groups over solos than it is a problem. Regardless of the opinion of some people the term MMO has no stipulations in it that you have to come to the game with three and only three people who you want to play with.
  2. Well, I will try this again since my last response was too "insulting". I think you misunderstood the question. I didn't ask if a pug equals a premade. I asked if four people who were grouped by queuing equals multiplayer. And by the way nice assumption that anyone who plays other than the way you do is bad.
  3. Actually it is elitist. elitist is defined as (of a person or class of persons) considered superior by others or by themselves, as in intellect, talent, power, wealth, or position in society. Also, A multiplayer game is a game which is played by several players.[1] The players might be independent opponents, formed into teams or be just a single team pitted against the game. This may be what you think MMO's are designed for but, not necessarily what they are actually designed for. I am pretty sure MMO's were designed to get large groups of people to play with each other or against each other in a persistent world. If I remember correctly the first MMO's didn't even have groups or parties as we know them now. So, in summary please don't quote my post, say I am wrong just because your opinion doesn't match what I said. Since I pretty much just stated definitions of words.
  4. To think this is ok is elitist. Does four people who queue separately and get grouped together not equal multi-player?
  5. You do realize you are doing the same thing right? Totally slamming the proponents of premades in normal que and discounting anything that defends their position. Also discounting any problems there may be with separating the ques. The people wanting to spit the ques are only looking at things from their point of view as well. Having no concern for what splitting the ques would do to the folks who want to play with their friends. I think some moderation (the actual kind not the censoring of forums kind) and compromise would do the bulk of the people posting in this thread some good. On both sides. Possible solutions would be to request a system that tries to group premades together against each other. Example: if 4 premade groups are queuing up at a particular time then when one group's queue is up they automatically get matched with the next in line premade group. Then the other 8 positions get filled with pugs. Just a random suggestion I just thought up on the spot. Saying premades can only fight premades is a draconian way of solving an issue (real or perceived.) Too many issues and questions come up with that. What defines a premade? Countdown queuing. Are an example of a problem and a question prompted by the OP's original suggestion.
  6. My addition to this is this question: "If a PvP player wants BiS through only PvP can he achieve it within a reasonable amount of time?" The counter question is: "If a PvE player wants BiS through only PvE can he achieve it within a reasonable amount of time?" Given that "a reasonable amount of time" is the same in both questions, are the answers to both questions the same?
  7. I personally am not fond of the new site design. The text is less legible then the old site. That is the only major complaint I have about it. But, since I come here to READ the forums, them being less readable is pretty major. Another problem is that it now takes more clicks to do everything I want to do on the website. My other complaint is not new but, why are the server forums still the mess they are? How hard would it be to make a forum for each server? The nonsense of adding a tag to my post title is unacceptable. And being able to just scroll through my server's posts is impossible without going to the search page. But, as for 1.2 its ok I guess. edit: the poster above removed his post so I removed my reference to it.
  8. While only slightly on topic, I think that dailies are a lazy approach to game design. Forcing people to do something not enjoyable to them for an hour a day so they can do something enjoyable for an hour in order to prolong the "hours played before the game is out of content" is pretty lame to me. The good news is that none of that stuff is required to still have a good time playing. Which is good for me because I only have a very very short tolerance for repetitive tasks. If a task or game requires no thought I will soon tire of it. If at some point they (BW) somehow forces me to run their stupid dailies more than once to be able to still enjoy the game it will only be a short time (however much is left on that billing cycle) before I find a new game to play.
  9. I am confused what is trying to be said with this SS?
  10. I too would like to see that screen shot. I have done around 8 hours or so of PvP since 1.2 came out. I don't like the nerf to the amount of credits received from winning or losing matches. But, I have yet to do one match where I got no rewards. I have lost at least 50% of the matches but, try in every one. The largest group I have queued on was 2 people including me. The rewards may have dropped I don't pay that close of attention to them but in my experience they haven't gone to 0.
  11. I just wish the devs would actually answer these questions but, I guess that is too much to ask for.
  12. You do realize they have said repeatedly the are going to add rated warzones with in patch 1.2.
  13. The problem is less about this feature not being in the current patch and more about the fact they hyped a feature and failed to provide for adequate testing. If they stated why it wasn't as easy as just having a NPC with a quest they gave out enough experience for level 50 then maybe we would believe that they actual have some idea in the works to fix the problem. Even if they had to do it with several quests to account for some strange gating mechanism we don't know about it would be better than having to level a second toon of pretty much the exact same class and AC if we want to test out the stuff we care about. We are talking about days of playing content we have already done. Not only do we have to do the class quests but we have to do the others or grind xp some other way. I am not interested in grinding (performing repetitive actions to gain experience) for days in order to do the company I am paying the service of testing their software. As far as them saying they are working on improving their PTS they also said that rated PvP would be in this patch. Their honesty is in doubt right now.
  14. Lack of testing because they couldn't be bothered with creating some mechanism to allow for people to test the new feature on the PTS with a level 50.
  15. For some people (me) it was less about the different gear and more about a decent match making system. In other words playing with and against people who are performing at your level more frequently. Some people (I) don't like rolling over their opponents or getting rolled over by their opponents. I added the singular pronouns because I can only really speak for myself but, I figure there are probably people with similar opinions.
  16. 12 hours and 210 pages of comments since their last comment and no further response from Bioware. Granted I am not sure that there is anything they can say but, at this point anything would be better than nothing. The majority of the valid complaints I have seen in here are about the lack of communication. This doesn't help. I am fine with holding back a feature if it is not ready. I can't believe that they didn't know until now that it wasn't ready and won't be ready for the foreseeable future. I also am unhappy they basically pulled solo queue completely off the table until further notice. I am not rage quitting or anything but, this definitely has adversely affected Bioware's credibility. It also kind of makes me feel bad for getting several of my friends to come play this game. PvE is fine for short term play but, for all the people I play with, PvP is where the long term fun is. Playing matches against people who are similarly skilled/geared as I am is what makes it fun through out the lifespan of a character. I don't like playing blow outs. On the winning or losing side. That is the draw of rated PvP not some number next to my name.
  17. WoW's announcement of real names showing in forums had a pretty insane response.
  18. I understand things getting pushed back due to problems and such. This part of the announcement is the part that makes me mad. I absolutely hate the fact that MMO's in general cater to the large guilds. I like playing MMO's with many people in them. I don't have a problem with forming teams. I do have a problem with having to have large groups of people schedule their lives around a game. Once again the small guilds and people who solo are left out of the game.
  19. I still haven't seen an answer to why we would need a public log when the personal ones can be released for the raid leader of your"hardcore" raiding guild?
  20. Not sure why I bother but, you do realize that your "hard core" raiders are a fairly small percentage of the community as a whole right? If each person in your raid releases their information to a third party application which can then be parsed in with the groups and an output is given to the group or the raid leader then what exactly is missing? There really isn't an assumption that people will use a raid wide log to grief others. History proves that it will happen. In my opinion, the major problem is not in high performers griefing low performers. It has to do with the uninformed using the data to compare apples and oranges. Example using totally made up numbers: DPS 1's only job is to DPS target A and does 1000 DPS DPS 2's job is to DPS and to throw a heal in an emergency and does 800 DPS and 100 HPS DPS 3's job is to DPS and CC target B until target A is dead. He does 600 DPS and target B does 0 damage before target A is dead. Who did the best job? If DPS 1 is an elitist then from his/her point of view they supported the team the best and have concrete numbers to "prove" it. DPS 2 at least has some heals tossed in there as well to kind of soften the blow that his/her DPS is lower. DPS 3 is just plain out of luck because there is probably nothing in the logs that will defend his/her position. A good raid leader will more than likely take all this into consideration. After a wipe in a PUG, the raid leader with all of this information could easily draw the conclusion to drop whichever DPS has the lowest number and pick up a different pug DPS since there are generally a bunch waiting around. No questions no explanation just /kick.
  21. I like most of the ideas in the notes so far. My concern is that when the queue pops and it says this is a mixed match and I decide not to take it because I want to fight rated or non-rated specifically does it dump me out of queue totally? I would like to see a check box that allows me to only enter the specific queues I asked for (solo, group, rated or non-rated) no matter how long the queue is.
  22. Just my quick math on server pops: 1.7 million people subbed per the last number I heard. 2 hours per day average play time. 124 servers in NA. 91 servers in EU. 3 servers in AP. 1700000 * (2/24) / 218 = ~650 people averaged across all servers and all times. My conclusion is that the servers at some times not seeming very crowded is easily possible with 1.7 million people playing. More than half the servers in NA show as standard or higher during peak times (like right now.) I wish that people would get their facts or at least math straight before accusing BW about lying about their sub numbers. To the actual point of the post: I have no opinion on the first point since playing MMO's for awhile you get used to new gear replacing old gear and you will almost never get an compensation for the time you spent "working" towards the acquisition of it being wasted (which by the way is what we are actually doing in a game.) The second point I totally disagree with the OP's opinion. Anyone who has leveled a crafter can attest to the fact that it will take you a less than 4 hours to level you crafting to the point where you can make orange gear. If you don't want to do that I am sure you know someone in your guild or online friends list that has one that can make you an armor piece or set. The third point, hyperbole aside, playing around with M$ Access does not mean you know databases. If you did you would know about the insane amount of links that can be set up between different tables in a simple database. An online game (MMO or not) is by far not a simple database. Between that, queries and other possible scripts that could be set up they add in the legacy system it is not surprising that server transfers haven't happened yet. Thats not to say I would not be happy if they enabled them today. They said they're working on them. I can wait for it. tldr: Buy an attention span and read the post or skip it I could care less which.
  23. Without knowing your AC it is hard to give you any tips. An assassin and a sorc have different priorities.
