  3. -The original post is quoted in the reply above mine so im not going to waste the space requoting it- The OP as well as im sure a number of others that applied and i didnt read are likely misinformed. The OP seems to think they are making all abilities available in one way or another to every other class combination. Thats not true. They said they would be opening up an ability per class and used force choke as an example. You also have to have the ability on another character already to unlock it on a new toon. Yoda says in the movie "No, there is another" implying that IF LEIA trained to do it she would be able to use the force just like Luke. This one scene legitmizes the sharing of abilities between character because the main theme of Legacy is that our characters as a whole will be related somehow. So if my main is a sith, and i create an alt bounty hunter that i then designate as my original toon brother - why WOULDNT he be able to use force powers on a limited scale?
  4. middleware for MMOs is much more complex than for console games. the comparison would be like a car engine vs a turbine engine. to further complicate the answer, the middleware that blizzard may now have developed is not likely to find it way (legally) into the hands of anyone at another major development company like EA or BW for the simple reason that, its copyrighted. the tools and prewritten support files used to develop a game like, lets use Madden for an example, are also being used on probably every other sport game released that year as well as the year before that and so on and so forth. they are simple and about as easy to get as this is my understanding of how middleware works at least. so while your arguement may be that it costs a fraction of the amount to develop content for console games is correct, the complexity of said work isnt considered. --------------------------------------------------------------------- The easiest thing they could do to help themselves is change the character creating options on the PTS. By change them i mean CREATE them as currently to the best of my knowledge unless something has changed in the last couple days the only option people have to play on the test server is to start a fresh lvl 1 toon that will just be deleted eventually when the server version is reset. A. Add character transfer. B. Put everyone in level50 toons with identical gear. Pretty easy fix and they would likely see something rediculous like a 5000% increase in players willing to test content. I sadly dont think that is much of an exaggeration.
  5. This is obviously a biased post for proponents of Damage Meters. And yes i know they have said meters are coming eventually. Personally, i feel like if i have no way of seeing myself improve at something my motivation for working at that thing tends to drop off very rapidly. So my question to you all is... How long will you play this game without them? Is the next tier of content even worth the effort if you cant see the difference from tier to tier? My prediction is no, imo it would be a giant mistep for BW to release the next major tier of content without first properly giving the players the tools to assess their state of readiness for that content. The reason for this post is that from everything ive read or listened to on the topic has been vague to the point of dismissal. Hopefully this thread will help BW place this properly in their list of priorities. I think we have ample ways to show cds now thankyou, for the second time. --------------------------------------------------------- My Suggestion: Before going and creating a meter that will measure an entire raids output throughout an extended fight, simply add a PERSONAL meter that can be turned on by the player so they can see exactly what they are doing - not worrying about the rest of your group for the time being.

  7. This^ Thats pretty overkill for a video card but yea the bigger upgrade would be to get at least 1gig of gddr5 ram on a videocard. Id suggest looking for a card with an HDMI or HDMI mini output as it seems the monitor market is heading that direction.   8. The files on your pc are the same one everybodys pc, the variable information like what gear you have on or how you spent your talent points is all saved server side so you can play from anywhere in the world potentially as long as you have your game disk.
  9. bump, i know we arent supposed to do bump posts just for the sake of bumping but i think its probably appropriate here for tracking an ongoing in game issue. so has anyone gotten the game failure today? got it twice earlier withing half hour or so but since it seems to have stopped. This time, what were you doing when the game closed? Where were you? etc. I was in huttball both times today.

The chests in question though are just random world chests, they aren't really supposed to have anything really worthwhile... maybe making everything that comes out a chest BOP and have no vendor value would be a quick fix for the meantime. Couple other good suggestions with keys and locks and such too. Though i dont think anything is broken with this issue. Bottom line, if you are honestly being hindered by the quality or lack there of on items you get for doing absolutely nothing at all - you may want to consider a new game genre.
  11. My post was a suggestion for a QUICK way to improve something in game, not redesigning an entire area so we can play it 3 months from now. Bazouk, nobody whos JUST into pvp wants people to come farm pve gear in their area of the game for a very simple reason... I dont want to carry you. If you show up in 140 PVE gear and get you *** stomped by guys in 126 PVP gear, all youll be doing is alt tabbing to come cry some more on the forums and try to get the part of the game you dont do nerfed. Ilum is world PVP, not PVE. If you want to make the comparison to wow opening of AQ event i would at least ask that you have more than the one example that took place 7 years ago. It was cool, and i would love to see something similar in this game eventually but for that to be in the launch i think is unrealistic. Its been said a god awful number of times but wow had 0 pvp at launch. . Saying you should be able to get PVE rewards out of a PVP zone is downright ignorant. For those that dont know the accronyms they are as follow, PVP = player vs player PVE = player vs environment There was never anything worthwhile on the PVE side of alterac valley rewards that couldnt be replaced by any level 60 instance and likely some of the mid level 50 ones as well. For that matter... where my pvp gear from doing pve which we HAVE to do if we want to max biochem or really any crafting proff. There is also a ton of gear you can get for PVE from PVP for leveling purposes through the WZ system. @BW - Please add an option for original poster to lock their thread on posting. Its getting old trying to give the company constructive criticism/suggestions and having your thread jacked by everyone and anyone who disagrees.
  12. So ive seen it mentioned quite a bit over the last month or so that these forums, well, are about the most dated thing on the internet. My suggestion would be, assuming the forums get an update in the future, to create a function that allows users to mark certain threads as 'spam' or some such designation which would hide those threads on subsequent visits. This capability imo would cut down on the attention '************' posts get from people on either side of an arguement because once they decide its stupid they can get rid of it. Like i said this is a suggestion for something to incorporate in the case you redo this site at some time.... we hope...
  13. yam, the exotech adrenal thats BOE (535 stats) i talked about earlier is only 5% less of a bonus from the rakatta biochem required BOP adrenal (565 stats). everyone, i DO agree that there isnt a pvp adrenal, the people pro for this thread want a PVE adrenal to use in PVP, why dont you just ask them to put a pvp adrenal in the game that gives you... wait for it... expertise? i hear thats what pvpers use...
  14. dont worry, im sure enough crying on the forums will eventually make everything in this game boe and have no requirements to use it so we can all go outfit on the gtm and not waste time leveling a proff. Just out of curiosity though, has anyone who replied to this actually been a biochem? Exotech - 535 for 15 seconds Rakata - 565 for 15 second Anyone else think the developers have a better use for their time? If your hardcore enough for 5% your hardcore enough to run a FP a couple times in your life. All making the crafting material BOE will do is break the prof. A reasonable compromise is to make them available from the vendors to buy with an equivalent amount of pvp tokens/points that you would earn from potentially running 4 FP.
  15. Have to say ive gotten alot of good fights on ilum this week. WHAT It got me to thinking about how the zone is set up and what occurs to me is - even though we are getting more fight activity, its still basically a fight at the republics base. this is fun but its not taking advantage of the 'other' thing to do here which is collecting armaments which only spawn midfield. WHY Seems from everything ive experienced in game and read on the forums this is going to be the way it stays until the population balances itself out between imperial and republic faction. So the question for me now becomes, how do i bring the fighting midfield? SUGGESTION "Population activated respawn points" Simply put, whichever side has the numbers advantage would be spawning from a spot either in or near their base while the team at the disadvantage would have the ability to respawn much closer to the battlefront, potentially allowing the smaller to force to hold ground and make the zone competitive. This is just a rough idea of how to help balance pvp a bit more from the game side of things that can be controlled. Obviously i dont want to run across the map every time i get ganked when my faction has the advantage but its only meant as a proof of concept.
  16. just wondering how many people are still having the issue where, for no reason, the game just closes. not disconnects but the actual application just closes real fast and leaves you on your desktop. also, if on the offchance a BW admin or whatever reads this... why cant we put polls on posts?
  17. visibility of your bars is one of my top priorities as a player for optimizing my rotation. good look on that BW please please PLEASE, make an option to only show whole numbers, therese not reason my graphics need to be taxed by counting 5.9, 5.8, 5.7, 5.6, etc. not to say decimals shouldnt be included just for the love of god please dont make them mandatory.
  18. Do you have any plans to add options to customize ways to display other people names? An option to personally disable the display of other people titles would be fantastic for my framerate in pvp without negatively impacting my ability to tell whos around me. Perhaps some keybinds as well to either completely display or hide nameplates?

  20. for anyone who played wow vanilla, you have to remember too this game generates the vast majority of its projected value through monthly subscriptions, months which havent happened yet. investors typically want to see an initial return on investment before investing in a products longevity. if you played wow at launch you know what im talking about. there were x number of servers we all que'd on until blizzard starting making money at which point they put up additional higher capacity servers. the original server shortly thereafter went through a series of hardware upgrades. of my experience with wow and rift both at launch time, this has by far been the highest quality initial product release in my opinion. addition: to the arguement that bioware made a big deal about "Were keeping the design team completely intact", that not a reason to expect the team that spent years untertaking a project like this to be able to go back into the operating codes and fix every glitch in 6 weeks. im sure blizzards current staff of programers and designers is much larger than it was in development.
