  1. Everyone seems to think THEIR grind / time-sink should be rewarded better than someone else's. The PvE raider does not want the PvPer to have equivilent gear, because oh noes, they didn't grind the whole raid progression I did. The PvPer doesn't want the PvE raider to have equivilent gear, because they think there was something super hard about doing the same 4 warzones over and over. Crafters like me think that MY grind / time-sink should count for something, but EVERYTHING I make sucks as soon as I ding 50. They absolutely COULD do away with the stupid "I'm automatically better than you at pvp even if I'm not really" stat, and just give the same nice gear for PvP rewards. But someone would undboutedly cry because whatever stupid mindless grind THEY suffered is automatically better than yours.
  2. I quit Aion because they did nothing to stop botters and cheaters. There were other things I didn't like about it too. BUT At least there was a sense of danger when you went out into the world that the bad guys might show up and you would have a REAL fight on your hand. This added excitement is what makes PvE much more exciting. I rolled on a PvP server in SWTOR and I got ganked once by a level 50 on Tattooine. That was it. With the exception of some planned events people staged (how carebear can you get?), I never even saw any open-world fights.
  3. Overall, your game is mediocre. It's neato because it's Star Wars. The cut-scenes are cool, especially the first time through. But game-play itself is just post-WoW, ez-moder MMO. I enjoyed your crafting and gear customization system UNTIL you get to level 50, and then it's all WORTHLESS. The worst thing about this game, and the real deal-breaker is... EXPERTISE Just because WoW does something doesn't mean you should. Just because they could not think of a better way to balance raid vs. pvp rewards, doesn't mean that you should not try. Everything is cookie cutter after lvl 50. Before that, I could do custom builds of my stats with your gear system. It was great. But can I test my build against other players? NOPE. Because they have the magic "I'm automatically better than you at PvP" stat, my build means nothing. If you don't get the ONE SET of gear with the Expertise on it, then you automatically suck at PvP, even if you DON'T actually suck at PvP. It's the dumbest thing any game ever did. Complete lack of open-world PvP (aka "real pvp" to us non-carebear, non-WoW-kiddies) was a crushing disappointment. YOU created that by giving huge rewards for grinding your ezmode Warzone treadmill, and giving nothing for open-world PvP.
  4. At least you comprehend what I'm talking about, unlike the first noob who posted here saying that open-world PvP is "casual PvP for casual players." ROFL If they encountered anything REAL hard-core, they would cry and quit the first day. EDIT: I know I won't find any "holy grail." I would have been content to keep playing this if they had just skipped the stupid Expertise cookie-cutter crap.
  5. I never played WoW. But do keep guessing. I do blame WoW, however, for dumbing games like these down and turning them into the Special Olympics where everyone gets a trophy, even if they suck. Have fun with your lvl 50 treadmill. Keep doing those same four warzones over and over. Even if you suck, you WILL still get the best gear in the game. And it will be the same junk everyone else is wearing. *yawn*
  6. You are obviously a noobtastic WoW-kiddie. Real PvP is not in little instances where nothing bad happens to you when you die and you automatically go back to the safety of your fleet so you can go get a sandwich between fights. I have never seen a more "casual" excuse for PvP in my life. Real, open-world PvP involves DANGER. Real danger of real loss to your character if you fail to be vigilant at all times. You call it "casual" because you've obviously never played a game that had real RISK or real PENALTIES for dying.
  7. I recently cancelled my subscription. When you cancel, they give you a little form to fill out. I thought I would share what I said in the PvP forum, since it was my disappointment with PvP here that is motivating my departure. __________________________________ Overall, your game is mediocre. 8. Get rid of Expertise. Problem solved.
  9. There is only one correct answer. There is only one correct build. There is only one set a gear. They designed a game with super cool customization features to the gear FOR NOTHING. Why even bother, when there is only one stat that even matters. But WoW has the magic "I'm automatically better than you at PvP" stat, so everyone else has to do it too. What a massive disappointment this game has been.
  10. Just go to the logical conclusion of all of it: Since all of this gear is just a tradmill grind for cookie-cutter gear with little or no choice or customization, just have everyone spawn at lvl 50 with all their WH gear. Why bother having choices through the earlier parts of the game, when there are none post-50 anyway. There is only one correct goal at the end anyway.
  11. They will have to either do 50-55 as a bracket, or 50-54, with 55 as a new bracket. All because of their STUPID decision to be like WoW and add a magic "I'm automatically better than you at PvP, even if I'm not" stat.
  12. "Heals should be tied to healing stance." "Damage should be tied to damage stance."
  13. Yeah... and my EQ Bard killed people butt nekkid with nothing but a drum just to prove that I could. You've said nothing of substance about my post that you quoted.
  14. NOTHING in this game is "hard." All you have to do is show up. Raiding is slightly "harder" because you have to get a bunch of people to show up at the same time (the hardest part of raiding).
  15. Here's some more, while I'm at it... I can craft all sorts of custom stats for various classes. My friend plays a Sentinel, and wanted to do a build based on Accuracy and Power. Well, guess what? The PvP gear is all Crit. If he wants Expertise so he doesn't get pwned, he has to abandon any desire he might have had to customize his character for his playstyle or to think outside the box and do something OTHER than what the crowd is doing. Once again, this aspect of crafting that was actually VERY COOL is now COMPLETELY WORTHLESS.
  16. Things that apparently never cross the minds of game developers, or self-absorbed PvPers and Raiders: 1) Don't make raid OR PvP gear SO much better than everything else that everything else is worthless. 2) Don't make your game SO gear-dependent that people who suck but have good gear can destroy decent players without nice gear. 3) PvP reward gear can be just as nice as raid gear without having a magic "I'm better than you at PvP" stat. 4) Risk vs. Reward used to exist in games like this. Raiders risked massive wipes and loss of xp/cash and wasted hours from deaths. PvPers risked the same death penalties and also being looted by other players. These HUGE risks justified the ridiculously better rewards than casual carebear play. Since none of these risks exist anymore, we now have a community full of whiny babies who feel entitled to the best stuff since they showed up for a long time.
  17. I completely disagree. What they have done, is made one path completely worthless to the other. It's not merely about being competitive. You also are assuming that I don't PvP. I'm just some PvE carebear who wants to walk into a Warzone after dinging 50 and compete with everyone. First off... If PvP is REALLY that much different, a PvE carebear cannot just waltz into a warzone and stomp everyone just because they have decent gear. (Remember, the mantra of the leet PvPer is that it is SO much more challenging.) Why should PvP be completely separate from PvE? Seriously... Why? Why should PvP gear suck in PvE and PvE gear suck in PvP? Why can't they both have nice gear rewards that use the same stats? I'll tell you why... Because all of these posers out there who think they are leet PvPers are nothing but crybabies who THEIR time-sink to mean more than anyone else's. They like to THINK that their favored gameplay is SO much more challenging and hard than anything else, when the reality is that skill PvE players can learn it and master it much easier than you want to believe. So you have to create an artificial advantage. Now... I'll tell you why I'm bitter about this, rather than just let you continue to assume you know something about me... I like crafting. I maxed out all six crew skills while my characters were all below lvl 25. I create my own "challenge" in these games by not dinging a level until I have ALL my nice gear made for that level. I deliberately level slower, because I don't care for the whole race-to-max-level-because-nothing-else-matters, and I don't care for most of the zero-attention-span WoW-kiddies who embrace that attitude. (Yeah, I'm old, and most of you are effing NOOBS). I have been doing warzones (since there is no open-world PvP to be had, because of ezmoder PvP warzones) all along. Levels 1-49, blue and purple crafted gear, along with teamwork and playing skill has been working beautifully. I started working on my super-awesome purple-critted max level crafted gear in anticipation of dinging 50. BUT Now I discover that all of my crafting was worthless. Now I am basically FORCED to buy cookie-cutter gear (you can't even do different custom builds because the PvP sets assume there is only ONE way to build the stats for your class). If I don't buy this gear - the SAME CRAP EVERYONE ELSE HAS - then I will suck. Not because I ACTUALLY suck as a player - I know better than that. I will suck because I didn't do the same grind that everyone else did. I chose to NOT follow the crowd, and chose my own path in the game. And here's the REAL icing on the cake. YOU CAN COMPLETELY SUCK AT THE GAME IN EVERY WAY, BUT IF YOU DO YOUR MINDLESS WZ GRIND YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY GET THE BEST GEAR IN THE GAME. THERE IS NO RISK VS. REWARD TO JUSTIFY THIS, BECAUSE THERE IS NO RISK OF BAD THINGS HAPPENING WHEN YOU DIE / LOOSE.
  18. Since everyone is obviously meant to wear all the same stuff, why not just issue the stuff on character creation and be done with it? This cookie-cutter nonsense is the most disappointing aspect of this entire game. That and the fact that you can completely SUCK and still get the best gear in the game simply by showing up long enough.
  19. Get rid of Expertise. Get rid of the "I'm magically better than you at PvP because I ground this longer than you" stat, and let people actually fight based on their skills and knowledge of the class. *GASP*
  20. This. I would LOVE it if I got off my ship, heard the tympani roll indicating I was PvP enabled... if I actually got SCARED a little. Nothing in this game has given me goosbumps. Not even once.
  21. I am extremely disappointed with the cookie-cutter nature of the PvP gear. Why bother having other stats and other gear choices? Why bother with even having a 1-50 levelling experience, only to have the SAME stuff as everyone else when you get to end-game PvP? Why not just roll a Sentinel, and give them the recruit gear? And why even HAVE a magical "I'm better at PvP because I spent more time grinding THIS than other stuff" stat anyway? What is the point? Why is it even needed?
